Went in needing an appraisal with the hopes of selling two rings. Was told that they "never bought something until an appraisal and offer had already been made". I was supposed to get the appraisal and an offer someplace else, come back with the offer in writing and then they would pay a higher price. Serial numbers on case and works. Elgin Works from 1915. Jaccard's Saint Louis on face. All I was told was it would be more expensive to repair than it's worth. Smug. The so called jeweler started on it and broke the band. He said to came back tomorrow. I went back 5 days later and still not done but we agreed on the battery being changed for no charge due to him breaking band. I returned 3 days later and still not repaired and he said he couldn't get open to change battery... so no battery and a broken band. lol These guys are a joke! read more

I needed a watch band re attached to the housing and they kept it overnight and then charged me for the repair only to pick it up and find out the job wasn't complete. I ended up taking it to a jeweler in Ballwin on Manchester who fixed it in five minutes for free and apologized halfway through the repair for taking to long. You would think a business that buys silver would understand makers marks on sterling silver. After telling the guy the two spoons were sterling silver, he took a quick glance and said it was silver plated. That the lion mark has one paw up and that meant plated. He said sterling had both paws on the ground. I went to another dealer and he confirmed it was sterling silver and even gave me the silversmith's name. I went in to sell some silver jewelry...with spot price per ounce at 22.50. The guy behind the counter said he would buy at 15.00. Everything was .925 (sterling) but there were some rhinestones, etc. so I agreed. It was weighed at 72 grams which he told me was about 2 oz...but when I got to my car and checked 72grams was over 2.5 oz...I was being screwed over. The jeweler explained I would need to contact Seiko to order links. The links arrived about a week later. The guys welcomed me back and added the links and replaced the battery in less than 5 minutes! They also shared insight on where to find a copy of manual I needed to learn more about my watch. My wife and I have had the pleasure of visiting Jewels On Hampton several times. She has been able to sell quite a bit of jewelry to the store at what we always have considered generous terms. Al and his son, I'm going to say AJ, always are pleasant and polite to us and always give us the feeling of being welcome. The conversations that we get into with the staff and customers are the most delightful of diversions from a busy day. To be sure, the store has not been interested in every item we bring in, but I don't expect them to. Do NOT take ancient coins to this shop. They do not know how to properly clean them and will use very abrasive chemicals, a process known to corrode fine details on your coin. I am not giving them a single star only because they sized my ring properly and (fairly) quickly. The staff was kind enough, but their jeweler is poorly educated on how to preserve the details and quality of ancient pieces. The owner towered over me LITERALLY and followed me around like I was gonna steal something. Next, I began naming my items and he quickly told me no, no,no, and it was one thing he said he'd take a look at but by then I felt disgusted and disrespected by his dismissive attitude that I decided not to go. I went in Clayton to another dealer who was very respectful and bought several of my items. Very pleasant experience. I see this dealer is very judgmental.....Humble yourself because arrogance gets you nowhere! You should never judge a book by its cover....
