A comedy of errors. Their outsourced passport photo printer printed the wrong photo size for my daughter's student visa and their hours are so limited and they don't have an answering machine, so could not get new ones printed in time. Refused to refund her the $30 and she had to pay Walgreens $37 to get new ones taken in time. Do NOT use them for visa/passport photos! read more

Only a few parking spaces out front, but when I went during a weekday afternoon, there was only one other customer who was leaving as I was coming inside. There are a few chairs inside to sit while you wait. I needed a watch battery replaced, and it was done while I waited, probably took less than five minutes. Only cost me $10. I went in to get my passport photo taken and I was blown away by his skills. The whole session did not take long but the whole photoshoot set up was well planned. From the lighting umbrellas, mirrors, and a shelf nearby for personal belongings. The resulting photography reminds me of one I used to get at a professional photography studio near my old home. Could not recommend higher. Also, the entire store is super adorable. Although you are surrounded by clocks, it felt like time had been stopped and transformed. Finally, I'd like to comment on their excellent COVID response. They had a protocol in place where you would not have to be in the shop with other customers. There is a parking lot in front of the shop and the proprietor came out of the store and instructed me to wait in my car until the previous customer finished his purchase to properly social distance. Fantastic place to get your passport photos. The actual image quality and lighting are a LOT better than what you'd get at a place like Walgreen's. The owner knows what he's doing and is knowledgeable about USA passport requirements. I was very happy with my passport photo but when I got home realized that there was a bit of shadow of my hair over my face. I was worried that this was going to get my passport application rejected, and I called About Time to ask what they thought and they just had me come back and retake the photo, free of charge. Amazing customer service and I really appreciate the dedication to getting it right! Also, if you need a copy of actual photo file, you can pay a little extra to get it burned onto a CD (or bring your own USB drive), which is useful! read more

This place is a gem! We got our family's passport photos taken here. Two children - aged 1st grade and a toddler. He was fantastically patient with them and made sure to get them right. He cut them and knew all the rules about what would and wouldn't be accepted. Very affordable. I stopped in here today because I found a coupon for a watch battery and my favorite watch has been sitting in my car for weeks needing one. The owner helped me and couldn't have been nicer. He was efficient and friendly and worked on my watch while I waited, I was in and out in 10 min. He also gave me another coupon. They moved from their previous location they are now in Webster Groves but Yelp has not updated this. Just FYI. I will be back as soon as I need another battery! read more

Observations on a series of watch repairs and passport photos by Dan Hoadley, proprietor. Dear Yelpers, I always enjoy finding a hidden treasure. "About Time" is certainly a hidden treasure. It is the only watch, clock, and photo studio I have ever visited. Located in Webster Groves, MO on Big Bend Road, it is like going back to a time when people took pride in their craft. I watched Mr. Hoadley repair a few wristwatches from the 70s and 80s while waiting for my photos. I heard him say that, "he is there for people are old fashioned enough to care" [about their clocks, watches, and photos]. We have become a disposable culture in these United States. It is soul renewing to dwell among someone who actually loves clocks, watches, and photos and can repair them rather then send them to a landfill. His shop is right out of a novel. It is clean and well loved and just a little bit quirky. It is part museum, part workshop, and 100% interesting. Mr. Hoadley has a patient bedside manner and can thoughtfully and politefully answer all your questions. His knowledge is encyclopedic on several subjects, including passport photos for a hundred countries. I was there to get official photos for Canada. He has binders that document over 40 years of experience in the various and endlessly changing requirements for international document photos. Need a passport photo for Morocco? He has you covered. What are the exact dimensions of the face and is the right ear showing on the Canadian Residency photo? That is right, he has it within quick grasp and it is current. I usually don't like to wait around while getting something repaired. I would make an exception for About Time -- you will be thrilled you did. Gary and Dan are honest and dependable and provide a service that is hard to come by. As a city dweller, their location is nice and convenient. Walking into the store, you're surrounded by artifacts of the 20th century: vintage phonographs, dozens of wall-mounted cuckoo clocks and a full array of repair equipment. (Daylight Savings Time must be a colossal undertaking). I've brought watches for new bands, new batteries as well as cleanings for mechanical watches and they've taken care of me. We went here to get our int'l passport photos done and they did a great job. The photo taking didn't take long at all and neither did the printing. The owner showed us with a ruler that the photos were the correct size.
