Joey helped us install it over the range microwave. What complicated to install what is that cut out for the tile backsplash was too small for the microwave. Instead of cutting tile, Joey the idea to install some plywood in the cut out so that the microwave could be mounted to a flat flush surface. Katie handled communications in payment and was very responsive. She sent pictures and sent the receipt promptly after receiving payment. The whole process was smooth, and Jerry honored his estimate, which I think was very reasonable. Joey explained the install over the phone because I was not on site as this was a rental. Joey and Katie are now my go-to handyman team. I spent a day contacting about 10 different handymen/companies to help with hanging a wall mounted squat rack in our garage. Many of the people simply did not respond, did not want to do the service, had bad communication or were busy. Thankfully, that was not the case with Joey and Katie. I reached out through Yelp asking for a quote and Katie responded the same day. She was very pleasant to talk with, gave an accurate estimate on the project, and was able to schedule me quickly. Although I was very nervous about hanging so much weight to our walls, Katie reassured me, answered all of my questions, and made me feel confident in the decision. She also checked in the day before the appointment to confirm and sent a thank you message after, those are appreciated details. I haven't left a bad review in years because that's not my thing. This, however, requires a review. They took a bunk bed frame from us to sand, prime, and paint in their workshop. After waiting *months* with more missed commitments than I could count, they finally dropped it off. They only charged us for materials because it took so long, BUT the paint job was horrible. They missed spots, and the best we can tell, they didn't sand or prime because the paint is peeling off. read more

I contacted this service and asked if they could help me and hang some pictures in my home. I told them I was not in a rush. We agreed on a price and they confirmed by text that they would arrive on 7/1 between 4pm and 5pm. Around 4:15pm I called to see what time they would arrive, I got the VM. I texted and got a response that they had a problem with another job and would not be here today. They said the earliest would be 7/13. Hanging photos is not a emergency. I feel they should have consume and told me they would not arrive. Communication soles a lot of problems. I will look for someone else to help me hang pictures. Here's another review about the lack of following through doing what they said they would. Joey came by to look at a job at my house, and initially I had a positive impression. He said he get back to me with a quote, and, unfortunately, that's when things took a turn. Joey said he would be traveling to see & help family with projects, so when I didn't get a quote after a week, I figured it just slipped through the cracks with his other commitments. So I called asking about it. Katie was very apologetic and promised he would call me back that day. Then, nothing. A few days later I called asking about it one last time, and left a message on the answering machine. Again, no response. Very odd. Unfortunately my experience with JG Handyman was not what I had hoped for. My experience starts back in June when I called to schedule an estimate for various projects around my home, including installation of interior doors, trim, and tiling of a shower. I left a message and received a prompt call back and was informed that they were booked until the end of July. To me this was totally understandable given the current demand of home projects across the region. My first impressions were pretty positive. They seemed extremely responsive and thorough, and even provided me a ballpark estimate of what the work might cost. Fast forward to when they were scheduled to stop by my house to give an official estimate: they didn't show. We waited about 15 min before I texted to see if something might have come up. 30 min later I receive a response that they ran into a major problem at another job site and would like to reschedule. Cool, I understand that in this line of business the unexpected can happen. We reschedule for the following day. At the end of the visit we are informed that we should expect an itemized quote within about a week. I follow up about a week and half later to check in and see if there's been any movement. I was then informed that they were out of town on vacation, but I should hear back from them "by the start of next week if not sooner." Ok, again, not a huge deal. It's now been over a full month since they came out to give an estimate, and we're still waiting. My most recent interaction with them was earlier this week when I (again) inquired about the status of the quote. I guess they are now catching up from moving? They said they will send over the quote later in the evening or the following day. It's now been an additional three days out and still....nothing. I actually have no problem waiting, but what bothers me is when they committed to sending something and never did. This happened multiple times. It's annoying when someone agrees to something and doesn't follow through. I really want to give them the benefit of the doubt, because I know that life and other priorities pop up. But if this is a business, I would expect better. After multiple interactions it really just felt like one excuse after another and they didn't seem apologetic in the slightest. More consistent and proactive communication from their end could have easily solved this. Hopefully this feedback helps improve their process. read more

Actually love this company even though it's the first time using them. Problem with our front door was immediately fixed by a knowledgeable professional handyman (Joey) in a short time with no issues. Door now opens and closes better than before and even locks properly! Even Joey's wife who did the scheduling went above and beyond getting us scheduled ASAP so that the door issue would be resolved. The husband and wife that own this company are fantastic and some of the nicest people! Will try to make a long story short... I started in on a car project to put new roof rails on. Looked simple enough watching YouTube videos right? Wrong!!! I basically had my roof in pieces and was stuck at 830pm at night with pieces strewn across my garage. I needed a couple pieces of plastic notched out and I did not have the correct tools to do so. Almost cut my finger off! I was scrambling to get this done, as I couldn't drive my car until I completed this. I called Home Depot, Lowe's, Michaels all to no avail. Finally, I turned to Yelp and came across JG Handyman. What a Godsend! They answered my call after hours and actually let me stop by their place to complete the cuts on my trim pieces. In the end it turned out to be 2.5 days of work but they still charged me for two days. I felt the work was good quality. I needed someone to finish up what thought was going to be a quick remodel of our 60 year old tiny half bath & laundry room. After considerable prodding from my wife, I reached out on Yelp to schedule someone to come out. No surprise for Seattle, the bids for hanging 4 sheets of drywall, with mud, tape and sanding were off the charts. We only live by Microsoft, we don't have the same stock option plan as our neighbors. I then reached out to Joey from JG Handyman. At first I was hesitant because he didn't have any reviews, but I was glad I did. Joey was on time, clearly explained what to expect and did a great job. Even came back on a Sunday to check on the job and to make sure that I was okay with his work. He was great at fitting the drywall and helped recommend some solutions with some of our electrical issues. I plan on having come back out to do some siding work in couple weeks. This sorry excuse of a business deserves nothing more than a big fat ZERO star! When Joey started his business last year, I was according to him, his very first customer. To help him get going, I gave him several small jobs around my house and always tipped him generously. I was really rooting for him and even gave several referrals for him on Nextdoor and Facebook. One of the people that I referred to him came back to me complaining about Joey's constant last minute cancellations and how unhappy he was upon completion of the job. I felt bad for putting him in contact with Joey as he had also cancelled a couple of my appointments at the last minute due to a cold or some other minor ailments. I was a little annoyed but what can you do when someone is not feeling well enough to show up? About a month ago, I hired Joey for a project that him and I had discussed last year but I never got around to until recently. I ordered all the materials he asked me to buy (almost $1,000) and his wife gave me an appointment for October 15th at 9:30am. It was the only day Joey was available, so, I had to move another appointment to accommodate this one. Guess what? Yes, you got it right, Joey was a NO SHOW! And this time, him nor his wife even bothered to cancel at the last minute, he just didn't show up. I sent a text to his wife at around 10:30am letting her know Joey had not shown up and was already an hour late. She ignored my message but a few minutes later Joey sent me a text stating that he was not planning on showing up as he has a frozen shoulder. Really??? Have some respect and let me know ahead of time. Your "frozen shoulder" did not kick in right at my appointment time. Not that I believed him as he's pulled this kind of crap before and I saw a clear pattern here. I don't think he ever planned on showing up or something better came up. If you read his other negative reviews, you'll see the pattern I'm talking about. It has been 4 weeks since my appointment and he has yet to reach out to me to apologize or reschedule my appointment, not that I would hire him again. I'm done with him. Joey (or your wife), do NOT even think about posting a reply to my review to try and save face because I WILL post an update. Save it! I don't need to hear it. I don't know who died and made you king of the handyman population. You do not run a niche business. You are just handyman. You are easily replaceable. You should be ashamed of yourself!! read more
