We used George and his crew for 3 projects. They do excellent work. George is very flexible and is a good communicator - keeps us informed along the way. They re-built a water damaged balcony, a bathroom remodel, and drywall repair due to a leaky pipe. Their workers are diligent, considerate, and perform quality work. Scheduling was a little bit of a challenge, but I imagine that's the case with most contractors these days due to Covid. But once they start - they're locked in and completely committed to the job. We had our home remodel done by Jorge and his team at JGR Constructions after checking out his work firsthand from a referral. We evaluated almost 10 other contractors for our remodel but picked Jorge because we liked how thorough he was going though the details in our first meeting and made us comfortable that we were dealing with someone who was quite experienced. He and his team did our front entrance remodel, brand new kitchen, 2 new bathrooms, installed new hardwood floors, did a whole house electrical panel upgrade and installed a brand new HVAC, water heater and kitchen/laundry appliances along with painting the entire house over 3 months. His team did the majority of the work and he brought on a professional set of specialists to do HVAC work, counter top fabrication and gutter installation. His team was quite professional and his brother was a big help, picking up all the material required for the project after I had ordered it at the various stores in the area. He also readily fixed a few minor issues as we got to the end of the project to ensure that we were 100% satisfied. I didn't have to be present at any inspections from the city since he coordinated them very well and made sure they passed without any problems. At the end of the project, he delivered on-time (worked around delays caused by city for permits) & on-budget as written on the initial contract (except for any extra items discovered as the project went on). If there was one area that I would pick on that wasn't perfect, it would be that he could have given us advance notice of material or stuff he needed for the project rather than us having to scramble at the last moment. Given the local real estate market here in the Bay Area these days, it's quite tough to find good, reliable licensed contractors that deliver a quality product. Don't be surprised to contact Jorge for your project and be told to wait for 4-6 months to begin. read more

We contacted JGR Construction back in March of this year for a 500 ft extension. He came out the same day and while here he gave us some recommendations on our project plan. We really loved some of the ideas he had so, when we started working with JGR, we did incorporate those. The payment plan with JGR was predetermined, so there was never any problems/questions with payments. Once the team started the work, we realized how detailed they were. A few times Jorge would have his team redo something because he wasn't happy with the work, this left no room for any complaints from us. We were on a tight timeline and they were able to finish the work. We also really appreciated how they kept the work space clean and also cleaned the backyard/work space every Friday before leaving. A few times, we told them not worry about cleaning LOL. All of the employees of JGR were very nice and professional. Had an appointment for 11am today with Jorge to get an estimate. When he didn't show, I sent him a text asking if he was still coming. He apologized and said he hadn't looked at his calendar and asked if I was available later in the day. We reset the appointment for 5:30pm. It's 6pm and he hasn't arrived. When we made the appointment, we noticed that we had an appointment a couple years prior for an estimate. At the time, we had a leak in our roof and water damage and had decided to do some remodeling along with the repairs. I looked back at my notes as I was wondering why we had chosen a different company and all that I had written down was that Jorge had come by our house and seemed nice. I couldn't find any record of ever receiving an estimate from him (though that doesn't mean there wasn't, it's been a while), so I'm just not sure what happened there. ** (see my update below) I want to be fair, which is why I've shared that from our previous meeting in person, he seemed like a nice guy, however, I think it's safe to say that I wouldn't be able to recommend JGR based on the two no shows today and disregard for my time and schedule. Update: Jorge called at 6:10 to apologize. I told him that I wasn't mad but that we wouldn't be able to do business. He does seem very nice and I appreciated the apology. He also texted me later, and was remembering that we didn't get an estimate last time from him because he had recommended an architect to us first and as we didn't have plans at that time he wasn't able to give us an estimate. This seems a good possibility as to what happened. We ended up deciding that we would do the immediately needed repairs and wait on the addition until a later time. read more

We purchased our current townhouse from its original owner of 30 years, and it needed a complete overhaul. I recently employed JGR Construction to replace my redwood patio arbor. From the offset, I was very impressed with Jorge's approach. He came on the same day as I made the enquiry to see the project. He was courteous, professional and knowledgeable, proposing a few options and showing me examples of the work the company had undertaken. I felt immediately at ease and had confidence in him. Jorge's professionalism continued - he was prompt in supplying an estimate (which was extremely competitive) and then followed up by telephone to answer my questions. He didn't keep me waiting when I contracted him to undertake the work. Throughout the project Jorge's team reflected his approach - they were punctual, polite, professional and very hard working. As with any large scale project, I had to make a couple of unforeseen decisions but Jorge guided me through the options, conscious of my budget and came up with solutions. On the last day of the project, we had heavy rain and it was impossible for them to complete the work. I knew that Jorge's team were booked on another large project the next day, but he organised things to ensure that my job was completed before they moved on. My new redwood arbor is a beautiful addition to my patio and I am very impressed with the craftsmanship and quality of JGR Construction's work. We renovated our kitchen through Jorge and we are beyond pleased with the stunning result. They tore out the old cabinets, installed new cabinets, new countertop , backsplash, new flooring, new electrical outlets. Jorge's attention to detail and design decisions were noteworthy. This review is overdue. We have done several renovations before and to be honest, it's a hit and miss with the contractors you work with. This particular project we were quite nervous because it involved a structural element and was not just cosmetic. We met with several contractors including contractors our architect had recommended. We decided to go with Jorge because of his attention to detail and an overall comfortable feeling we had when we met with him. Luckily for us Jorge was able to work with our schedule. With any project there will always be unexpected surprises. We hired Jorge to add a room in our house. He started work within 3 months after I talked to him. He also recommended very good engineer to do design. As promised , he finished the job within 1 month. His crew are very good and listen to our concern. They come on time and keep the place relatively clean even during construction. We interviewed four contractors we found on Yelp to remodel my house. All of the reviews for JGR Construction were great, but we had no idea that Jorge would become our hero. He has such a great personality and is a very intelligent person with integrity. We had plans from an architect but Jorge suggested changes that improved the project immensely. He was always patient with us and always had an idea to deal with the bumps that arise with a 62 year old house. We truly can't thank him enough. Our project turned into a total house renovation with two small additions. Jorge changed the plans to remove little walls and further open up the space and he put the heater in the attic and turned the space into a large pantry for the new kitchen. He improved the ceiling in the kitchen and the sunroom that raised the ceiling. He added an eave on the house where a previous addition was done incorrectly. He handcrafted a beautiful mantel and added a gas fireplace among the many other improvements including new bathrooms, tankless water heater, roof and so much more. His team was fun to work with and we enjoyed them very much. They were dedicated to doing a good job and making us happy. We had no idea how to get ready for this huge undertaking and I would recommend that you purge everything you wouldn't want to put in your new home, in advance. We didn't and his team moved our stuff from place to place three times to work around. For that we apologize. And lastly, we know that Jorge will be there to answer any questions we have about anything. We built our home 3 years ago and couldn't be more happy with the work Jorge did for us! He did almost all of our inside finishing work including 2 complete bathrooms, installing kitchen cabinetry and countertops , custom laundry cabinets, travertine tile work, hardwood, and trim. I don't write reviews that often but I must say this recent project urged my attention. We recently bought a house in Gilroy and planned some unique remodel to the property. I had been consulting other contrators in and around the surrounding area for potential estimates and I must say Jorge's quote was not only reasonable but within our budget. He brainstormed with us on new plans and even helped us choose the right material by going with us to the hardware store. Although due to an unforeseen tragedy within our family we had to stop our project in the middle and Jorge was very kind and gracious enough to understand our situation. Although, we did request him to finish our patio project since he already started on it and he was not only ready to work on it but he did an extremely phenomenal job using the existing material from the demolition and finishing all the work in just ONE DAY!!!! Jorge and his crew recently (Oct 2015) finished a fabulous job on our new backyard! We got 4-5 quotes; he wasn't the cheapest but definitely not the highest. Jorge is very honest, patient and professional which is HUGE in my book. He takes the time to address last minute changes without any push back and worked within our budget. We were able to discuss every aspect to get the results we wanted, sometimes after the fact to redo and sometimes for additions. We added French drains, artificial grass, travertine, a bocce ball court (70 ft.), two custom built planters and much more. It was a total backyard overhaul and we couldn't be happier. We went through an estimate process with Jorge on a sizable remodeling project. We didn't end up using his service because we went with someone else who we worked with before. Jorge did hardscape and landscape make-over of our backyard. He was competitive and very reasonable in his quote. He finished the entire project well within the promised timeline. During the construction, Jorge and his team, were nice to work with and were mindful not to be too noisy (we had a newborn baby). During the upgrade, we encountered several unforeseen roadblocks (our's is an old property - where the backyard was a mess of concrete, stone and gravel). Jorge was very efficient in coming up with solutions and work-arounds, keeping them within our budget. Our backyard now, has something to offer everyone - play structure for my kids, party/BBQ outdoor entertainment gazebo for us, fireplace, and water efficient soft scape.
