We had a sub-par experience with Outscape. The owner, Argel, blames everything on you. He first said he would do outdoor kitchen, putting green and travertine extension for our backyard. We signed the contract and waited a bit for the work to start (primarily on us as we take long to select our finished materials, that I understand). Once work started, his guys are very nice and did the job well. We did take some time to select tiles so his crew moved on but I waited patiently for him to give me dates. However, dealing with Argel was a nightmare. He would blame us for pretty much anything that didn't go right. After the job started he denied doing putting green saying my backyard travertine slope might lead to water collection issues. He should check that before bidding on a project and writing in contract, not in the middle once contract has been signed. Guess what, I hired a professional putting green install company and they did it beautifully without any problem. In a way it's good as it looks like he's not experienced in this anyway so not sure how good a job they would have done. But it was additional last minute work for me. He ended up not doing the travertine extension either. I had enough of him so I don't want to give him any more business. So in the end out of 3 things, he ended up only doing one, and that too was not a pleasure to deal with. I would strongly recommend to stay away from this company. read more

The owner (Argel) and crew are very pleasant, professional, flexible, and punctual. It was the best decision we made to use this company out of the five companies we were considering using because we all know remodels can be difficult, but they made this remodel as easy as it could be. We initially met with Argel to show him our space, he gave us an idea of cost, and the time it would likely take to complete our project. Once we decided to move forward with Outscape, they came by to get more details, and were able to mock up a 3D design so we could see what the space would look like (this was one of my favorite parts). They designed and put in a very effective drain line as well as installed a very nice dry well. They helped me put up a few 10' poles and hung shade sail. They also helped me fix the artificial lawn seam left by the previous contractor who did a poor job. Argel is very easy to work with. Argel (the owner) is a good guy and wants to do honest work for an honest price. He is very transparent on cost and recommendations on certain products he knows won't last. There are a lot of contractors out there which I have asked for quotes (at least 10) and they are purposefully playing the change order game when they submit you a price because that is when they make their money. Of course when they play this game they will be cheaper at first. They are just trying to get you under contract to get you to pay more for items they said we can deal with later or let's talk about it once we get started. Outscape is not like this. I know for a fact because I did a large project (6 digits) and everything I asked to be included was. Even some of the minor items that we talked about in person that he didn't include on his quote, he installed or moved because he stood by his word of what he said he would do for a certain price. I myself am a contractor so I know the game some of these other shady outfits do which Outscape is not one of them. I highly recommend using Outscape. Their work is very professional and you will be happy at the end of the day. Also they may seem a bit higher but I almost guarantee you, if you go with the cheaper guy, you will get what you pay for (bad install) or they will end up being more expensive than Outscape because they nickel and dime you with change orders throughout the entire process. read more

We had some ideas in mind about landscaping our front- and backyard. Interviewed several contractors and during that process, Argel patiently answered many questions over several weeks and helped solidifying our ideas and expected cost. The digital design that came after signing contract was very helpful for visualizing the layout. The designer did a great job, revised the design with our feedback quickly and gave us new ideas; she knows what she is doing. Our project called for demolition work, new concrete pad, paved areas, playground structure, irrigation, lights, and landscaping. Argel and his team had all the expertise, tools and equipment; his teams to worked quickly and efficiently. Team members were friendly and considerate, showed up at the same time in the mornings daily, and cleaned up the work site before they left. They followed the design closely, and discussed with us any time they needed to deviate: when they discovered existing drainage not working, or when a plant was in the way of a curve on the design, etc. When we want to make some adjustments, we discussed with Argel and, with his feedback, worked out plans to address those concerns. He also taught us how to care for some of the plants around the house; super helpful as we had asked him to get a few plants that we really liked but failed to grow previously. This pandemic meant our family is spending more time at home, and the landscaping work gave kids a more backyard to spend more time outside playing. Our yards are much easier to maintain, much nicer to relax in; ultimately much more enjoyable. Communication flowed easily between Argel and us. We engaged with Argel through a colleague referral in late February but waited until June to sign the contract due to shelter in place. The actual work didn't start until mid-August due to Argel's availability. The waiting period gave me time to work on the design. During this process, I asked Argel questions about his building approach and bounced off some ideas with him. I wanted to make sure that the work was done correctly and that my design meets building codes. He was helpful and gave me some great tips. The scope of the project entails demolishing old concrete and irrigation, removing overgrown weeds and existing dirt, and grading and leveling the elevation. Then they installed decomposed granite on half of the yard and repurposed our existing flagstones to specific areas of the yard. For the other half, they installed concrete slabs in different sizes with artificial turf in between the concrete slabs. They also installed a concrete slab for the foundation of our new shed. Finally, they added concrete slabs for the pathway along the side of the house added pebbles in between the concrete slabs. From start to finish, the work took two weeks to complete, which was what Argel had estimated. During the construction, Argel's team arrived early and left late frequently. They kept their work areas clean and tidy daily. More importantly, after they were done with the project, they cleaned up everything and hauled away the remaining construction debris. In all, the results turned out amazing. The work was done with a high quality of craftsmanship and attention to detail. You can tell that Argel and team take a lot of pride in their work. I reached out to Outscape back in February for a quote on our back and side yard through Yelp. Argel (owner) returned to us almost immediately to schedule a time/day for an estimate. During the estimate, we had some ideas for our yard, but Argel provided his great ideas that we thought was perfect and since he had many years of experience in the landscaping business, we took his word for it. The pictures and reviews on his Yelp also proved to us that he is professional and does absolutely great work! He returned with a quote in about a week and gave us some time to review the quote. He was not pushy at all and had answers to all of our questions in a timely manner. Comparing his quotes to others, we thought Argel had the best prices in town for the work we wanted. We felt his proposal was very detailed and had everything we wanted for the yard, therefore we decided to use Argel with Outscape for the job. With the contract signed and deposit provided to Argel, he didn't waste any time and had the house measured by his team the following day. In about a week, his team provided a 2D CAD drawing of our job and we were very satisfied with it. We live in a community with HOA, so this drawing was a big help for us to provide. We received approval from HOA in about 3 weeks and notified Argel. Due to Covid-19, our job was delayed for a few weeks, but totally understandable. He always kept in touch with us and provided frequent updates. When Argel and his team first broke ground on our job, I thought it would take roughly 4 weeks to finish. Argel estimated 2.5 weeks. I can't believe and still can't believe it today that him and his team finished our job in a total of 8 days. Not only that it was finished quickly, but the detail oriented and professionalism in the work that this team performed was phenomenal. Throughout the process, Argel kept us in the loop and provided suggestions on things to add to make the yard even better, such as adding low voltage lighting and electrical outlets on our pergola. We accepted the add-ons and the prices were a no brainer. Argel and his team at Outscape are professional and most importantly are licensed and insured. Everyone should feel confident in hiring Argel and his team for landscaping work. We're extremely happy with the work from Argel / Outscape. They put in about a 35'x25'+ area of pavers, as well as a long walkway in our backyard. Argel was very easy to work with - very responsive, listens well and offers suggestions / advice as to why ideas would or wouldn't work. We really liked his suggestions on the design of the fairly large area of pavers. Argel and his crew went above and beyond the paver work. He moved our 8x6x9 wooden shed and then helped us reseat it a second time. He also used the extra fill gravel to secure a nice area around the shed so all we had to do was to put down a top layer of a nicer type of crushed gravel. He also came back a few days after the work was completed to anchor our new gazebo with the proper anchors for the pavers we used.
