We hired Jiffy Maids for a move-out clean of our empty house. The clean done on the house was very mediocre. I think the cost of the service - $290 for a house of our size - is exorbitant for the shoddy job they did. There were dirty paper towels left on the floor after the team left, smudges of dirt on the back door, all of the windowsills were covered in dust, and one of the rooms was not cleaned at all. A positive about this business (why I gave 2 stars instead of 1), is that their customer service responded quickly to my concerns, however, it was inconvenient for me to have to coordinate the team to come back and finish cleaning after I'd already moved across country. My landlord was not happy to have to return to the house and leave keys for the cleaners to return. The customer service told me that one of the rooms remained uncleaned at all because the door to the room was jammed and they have a policy not to force doors, which is totally reasonable. However, nobody called me or contacted me about the room. I would have said to just give the door a little nudge because it sometimes sticks. For one thing they charged more than first agreed upon. Second, the areas they cleaned, they did a really good job. The problem was i SPECIFICALLY told them certain areas I wanted cleaned and they completely 100% skipped those areas. You see, what they cleaned they did good, but what I asked them to clean never got touched. Good service - but not great. I hired Jiffy Maids to clean my boyfriends studio apartment before my stay over the holidays. I will start this review by saying I myself am a very clean person, which is why I wanted a cleaning service to come in to help me prep the place as I was sure he hadn't cleaned anything since I had last been in town. That being said, I cleaned most of the "problem" areas I knew the service wasn't going to take care of before they came in, and I then paid for just a "regular clean". Pro's: -The price was extremely affordable for the area. Most services I contacted had a minimum but I feel like they adjusted the price down for me since the area needing cleaning was no more than a 700 ft. studio. -Scheduling was made very easy and they got me in within one day of requesting an appt. -Cleaning ladies showed up well within window of time and I was even given a call 20 minutes prior of their arrival to confirm they were on the way. -Any price adjustments (in my case, I had none) were discussed upon their arrival and payment was agreed upon before the work started. Con's: -Woman who was cleaning the bathroom broke the bulb above the sink. -Cleaning left the apartment smelling like bleach. Other services I have used offered a pleasant fresher aroma after cleaning. - A lot of appliances and small items were still left dusty after the cleaning. For instance, they wiped the front face of the TV but neglected to wipe the base or back which is exposed and easily accessible. Artificial plants in apt were all still very dusty. Also, they didn't wipe all the around the appliances in the kitchen or bathroom (soap tray, toothbrush holder, toilet bowl cleaner all visibly had a lot of dust on them.) Not sure if they moved anything when cleaning or just dusted around it. -Along that same line, the ladies didn't bother to wipe smudges/finger prints off of the walls. Any attention to detail was missed and I had to point out during the final review/walk around. Overall they got the apartment clean and did a good job, but I definitely could have saved the money and done a better job myself. I used Jiffy Maids twice so far. The booking is fast and the service over the phone is great. When is comes to cleaning and keeping the costumers happy, I unfortunately can't say the same thing. In the first cleaning they didn't mop the floors - although they are hardwood and are easy to mop. They just vacuumed them. Because I had signed up for regular service, I called them to make sure that the price I got included mopping and that they will be mopped next time. They were accommodating; they apologized and confirmed that next time there shall be mopping. Great. This morning I had the second (and the last) cleaning. Although everything went great (floors were mopped, they were on time and they worked at the speed of light), after they left I realized that there are black shoe marks/stains on my shower curtain. Yes, I can even see the pattern of the shoe and could match it to the cleaner's shoe if I only had a crazy CSI equipment. I guess they stepped on it while cleaning the bathtub. Now I have to take the curtain to dry cleaning (yes, it is a dry-clean only shower curtain) and we'll see how much I will have to pay. The worst thing, I think, is not that the curtain got stained or I got annoyed. Things like this can happen but the company should accept its responsibility and try to make it up to the customer. When I called to let them know about the dry-clean only-shower curtain incidence, I was expecting an apology, maybe an offer to cover the cleaning costs of the curtain in form of a discount for the next cleaning. But no, nothing. The lady on the phone simply said "Sorry to hear that". Even when I told her that I would like to cancel the rest of my appointments given the situation, all she said was "Sure, I'll take care of it." Really? Is this what I get for being calm, understanding and not bitchy? If you broke down everything in the apartment would you have only said "Sorry to hear that"? A small damage is still a damage and should be treated with just as much care. Now that I calmed down, I'm back in the market for good, reliable and responsible cleaning service. Jiffy Maids customer no longer! Cleaning service is shoddy, customer service is horrible. Take your business elsewhere. I have been a Jiffy Maids customer for more than a year or so. I just canceled my service. In general, the management is horrible. The maids themselves are okay, but they put in minimal effort and really only clean the basics. On several occasions we would come home to find towels bleached. For months we wondered why, I even called to ask if they use bleach. The answer was no. Then I came home after the maids were there one day and accidentally bleached a pair of shorts, so I called again, asked if they used bleach (no real response) and I told them no bleach, what so ever. Next time the maids show up, they said (in very broken English) that they wouldn't use bleach and would use some other cleaner instead. I asked to see the bottle, sure enough, it said WITH BLEACH! Mystery solved, but with several bleached towels and a pair of shorts in tow. We also asked them repeatedly to clean our vents, which they never did, always dirty, very visible, never cleaned by the maids. They'd vacuum our couch and make the bed, which is nice, but the rest was just lazy dusting. I could do that with minimal effort. These folks have one job to do and they don't do it well. Expect them to show up either early or late and complain to you directly about having parking trouble or having to pay to park. Not my problem. I park in my neighborhood for free and its never really an issue. They could even use our guest lot which costs $3, not the $20 they say they spent. Its a hustle for an extra tip I think. I could deal with all of that until our experience last week and my call with management this morning. We had our service come on Friday while my wife was home from work. While they were cleaning the bathroom, my wife heard them drop some stuff, which isn't really a big deal. As far as we knew, nothing broke. However, about five minutes after they left, my wife noticed her razor had gone missing (nothing expensive, just a regular, non-disposable razor) so she called the management (since we don't have the maids' personal numbers) and left them a message. No return call, so she calls back hours later towards the end of the day. They say that they have it and someone would come by on Saturday to drop it off. Fine, whatever, why they took it, who knows? If it was broken, it wouldn't be a problem, we just wanted to know so she could go buy a new one if she had to. Didn't ask for money or a refund or discount, just the razor. Saturday rolls by, Sunday, Monday... Tuesday we get an envelope with someone else's name crossed out with my wife's name written below. Inside we find a disgusting, used, rusty men's disposable razor with what looked like pubic hair stuck in the blade. I called them last night and they returned my call promptly this morning. Simply, I canceled my service. I told them why and that I thought it was repulsive that they handled this situation as they did. The manager insisted it was my wife's razor and acted like they were doing us a favor. What if we had cut ourselves with it? Tetanus? HIV? Throughout this rather simple ordeal they didn't apologize once, offer any explanation, or act professionally in any sense of the word. They made a big problem out of something simple which is why I have taken to yelp for my first ever review. Please do not support this business. You can find other services for the same price in the same area that have better customer service and do a better job cleaning. I was a long time customer that couldn't take it anymore. I might still be coming down from my came-home-to-a-spotless-apartment-and-didnt-have-to-lift-a-finger buzz (yes, a week later), but Jiffy Maids really was fabulous and the entire process was a breeze start to finish. I filled out the form on their website Tuesday morning to get an estimate and maybe an hour later Tammy emailed back with a price and answered a couple of my questions. Wednesday morning I emailed again to see if they were available to come out before the weekend. No problem -- they could be there Thursday. Tammy faxed me a credit card authorization form and I was booked! No hassle, no waiting, done. I didn't even have to be there when they arrived since I could leave a key at my front desk. I purposely kept my expectations in check because I'm pretty picky and didn't want to be disappointed when I inevitably found that they missed something or it wasn't perfect. Not necessary. I walked into my apartment after work and felt like a million bucks (as my Grandma would say). Floor? Shining, spotless, dirt-less, dust bunny-less. Windows? Sparkling. Blinds? White! I didn't even know they were supposed to be white since the grimy boys that lived here before me left them so gross! They swept, dusted, mopped, scrubbed, did my dishes, they even cleaned my bathroom ceiling! The price for a onetime cleaning of my studio was $75 and I paid $25 extra to have them clean my large windows and wash my massive set of horizontal blinds (Tammy called AND emailed with the estimate when the cleaners arrived at my apartment Thurs, so once again I could quickly and easily respond "go for it!" and they were on their way). Their deal for Yelpers entitles you to $5 off your first three apartment cleanings, so I took advantage of that and ended up with a spic and span apartment and gleaming windows and blinds for $95. I called Jiffy Maids last Tuesday and wanted them to come and clean first thing Saturday morning and they were very accommodating. Many other maid services don't even operate on Saturdays so I was just pleased that they were able to come in, even though I had to pay a Saturday fee. Despite the fee, the price that they quoted me over the phone to clean my townhouse and clean my carpet with scotchguard was very reasonable and competitive. They were pretty professional and even gave me a courtesy call the day before to confirm the time they would arrive. I would have liked to receive an email confirmation, especially since I had to give them my credit card information over the phone to book my appointment, but it wasn't such a big deal. The two ladies who cleaned my house were so quick and efficient! Another gentleman came in a separate car when they were almost done to clean my carpets. Honestly, the ladies vacuumed my carpet so well that I almost considered cancelling the carpet cleaning! There were a couple times when I had to remind the ladies to clean a nook or cranny here and there, but they did not give me a hard time about it. My house looked sparkling clean and had that "clean" smell by the time they were done. I was unsure how much to tip, so I called the office to ask for a suggestion. The gentleman was pretty honest and told me that the majority of people don't tip, but I decided to tip anyway. They definitely deserved it. I will be using them again! read more

We're moving out of our rental townhouse and wanted to have our light-colored carpet professionally cleaned. I went with Jiffy Maids based on the the reviews here on Yelp. I'm pretty disappointed after my experience though. I called earlier in the week and scheduled them to come Yesterday. I was quoted $185 for our master bedroom, two smaller bedrooms, the hallway that connected them, and all the stairs in our townhouse which added up to 28 steps. on the day of arrival they arrived one hour late. I had made multiple calls on my own before they arrived to keep getting the status. The late arrival wasn't too big a deal, I can sympathize with dealing with DC area traffic on a Friday. But what really annoyed me was that when they arrived they said that they were told to do only one set of stairs not two. They said it would be $30 extra. I called the company and was told by her that she only accounted for one set of stairs. With my final walk through today, I had no choice but to pay it. And I tipped both of them $10 each on top. This whole thing could have been avoided if there was some sort of written confirmation of services requested that were sent out. And even then, if you're arriving an hour late then just let it go. As far as the quality of work, the carpets look pretty clean. That's the only thing that kept them going down to one star. read more

I recently moved out of the DC area, and I went back to Jiffy Maids for my move-out cleaning. It was just as good as I remembered. I got different staff this time (a year later, no surprise,) but they were just as on time, just as polite, and just as thorough. To be honest, I actually caused some confusion; my movers were there at the same time because I had had a difficult experience with my original movers, and the second moving team was scrambling to get in and help me in time. All the same, the Jiffy Maids managed to work around my confusion, they got the place spotless, and they were just as friendly as I remembered. Our office used them 5 times and 5 times they either showed up on the wrong day or showed up at the wrong time. It was extremely frustrated dealing with Tammy by phone and by email. She would confirm a time and in later emails she would deny being able to send a crew at the confirmed time. I think the cleaning crew was great, but it was a nightmare dealing with the management. Just used Jiffy Maids for the first time this week based on mostly positive reviews from Yelp. We have an eleven month old daughter, and pretty much when she was born was when I stopped being able to clean my home as well as I would like. The quote I received for my four-bedroom home was on par with other quotes in the area, and we were able to schedule the cleaning within days of my first contact. I really appreciated that I was able to do all of my contact through email--responses were quick and informative. My date of service came, and the team members were friendly. We were surprised at how fast they worked, and we were very happy with the results. The only reason I am giving four stars instead of five was because I expressed interest specifically in having my hardwood floors mopped, and that does not appear to have been done. Maybe that is too much work for a first-time cleaning? I'm now on a monthly schedule, so I will comment further if they mop next time. read more

My story is somewhat long and I love to write/talk, so I'll try to be as somewhat brief. I recently moved into an apartment with two other girls. We're all busy and sadly none of us were born with the impulsive need to clean. We decided to get a cleaning service to regularly clean our apartment. Being slight cheapskates, we called and got a rate for a very cheaply priced cleaning company. I knew it probably would be, but it was a HUGE mistake. I happened to be home while they were cleaning, but I stayed in my room to give them space. They were there for 2 hours, but barely touched the apartment. They cleaned a couple of surfaces and vacuumed. And I'm pretty sure they didn't clean the bathroom. On top of that, they would ask me for the occasional cleaning material. I complained... they were incredibly rude and promised they gave "sufficient service." I'm rambling, so...long story short, I was back on the hunt for a cleaning company. The next day, I called Jiffy Maids. The woman I spoke to was incredibly nice and understanding and said they could send a crew out the next day. The two ladies arrived on time and were very friendly! I didn't want to make assumptions based on the first time, so I stayed out of their way. When they said they were done, I was nervous to say the least. But they did amazing job!!! Honestly, there are not enough exclamation points that can convey my satisfaction. The floors were sparkling, the bathroom was clean enough that I could eat off it (that is if I would ever eat off any bathroom surface). My apartment didn't even look this clean when I moved in (despite management saying they had a cleaning company clean it). So that's just the beginning of my long tale, because we signed up for weekly service. So now along with a clean apartment, there's less tension between my roommates and I ! They left the spray to clean the oven in the oven, they left the solution for the fridge in the freezer, floor was streaky, they used water on wood floors, light fixtures were still dusty. I just purchased a new home and wanted it to shine. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. I called the office while my place was being cleaned and still the maids did an awful job. The window panes were still dusty. Not to mention the manager is RUDE and condescending. He will not be of any assistance. He answered the phone ready to argue when he knew I was on the phone. They were very fast and thorough with the house cleaning. It's a little more expensive than some other options, but they were professional and fast. The carpet cleaning went well. You do need to make sure you tell them where to clean under furniture, or if you have a carpet on top of a wall-to-wall carpet to clean underneath. But overall a great experience. read more

I needed some last-minute help with a deep cleaning before the holidays. I emailed Jiffy Maid on Monday, and they had teams available for the next day! I booked a cleaning for two days later (today, the day before Thanksgiving). The team of three arrived ten minutes early and did an absolutely beautiful job! They were friendly, professional, and fast. This was a first time service on a 4 bedroom, 3 level house, and they only took 3.5 hours for a VERY thorough scrubbing. My kitchen and bathrooms are sparkling, my furniture and rugs have never been so clean, and my hardwood floors are gleaming like new. 4.5 Stars - Highly recommended. I try to keep my house neat & clean but no one in the household had the time or energy to do a really deep "Spring Cleaning." We also just had wood floors put in and needed some help maintaining them. I went to interview a few companies and checked Angie's List. I choose Jiffy Maids because 1) They had mostly good reviews 2) They covered my area, whereas some other companies did not want to come out even though I am not far from Washington DC. I was more concerned with quality over cost, but their prices are quite fair. I chose a 12-3 time and the ladies showed up at 3:15. They got right to work and cleaned up A LOT of areas both upstairs and downstairs. They also made the bed, which I have trouble doing myself as I cannot get the sheets properly tucked into the waterbed. The ladies were able to do it and the sheets have not popped out like they often do when I make the bed. There were a few little areas like the cabinets where I saw some crumbs where they wiped and I am not sure if the rag they used wasn't clean or if it's just my cheapo cabinets flaking off stuff, but overall they did a wonderful job. I can tell the difference when I do my light cleaning that areas and shelves just look better now. My refrigerator has never looked so clean. They were able to get the crisper drawers perfectly clean which I was never able to do myself. Bathrooms looked & smelled great. My newly carpeted stairwell (which we hate to clean) was free from pet hair & debris. I decided to have the ladies come in once a month to help with baseboards, polishing, and mopping, so I may update this review later to reflect that and maybe even change the rating to 5 stars. I took off one star because they came after 3 which was probably not even their fault and for the few little areas which considering how much work they did, were not that big of a deal. Overall, they worked very hard and I am very happy with their service. Customer service is also very friendly and helpful. Jiffy Maids has exceptional service all around. From start to finish. This is my very first experience using a cleaning service so I wasn't sure what to expect. My husband and I are moving from DC to Ohio tomorrow and this week has been crazy crazy busy and made worse because I've been sick. Since the husband's company is giving us $2K towards relocation, we decided to splurge and go with a cleaning company to do a one time move out clean. I called Wednesday morning and spoke with a pleasant man who made arrangements to have two employees come by between 8:00AM and 8:30AM Thursday morning. He put my credit card on file and that was that. Fatao and Maria called me when they arrived and were so pleasant. They greeted me and divyed up the apartment. Fatao got started in the kitchen and Maria began in the bathroom. I was embarrased about the state of my apartment (and a tiny bit embarrassed that I am hiring someone to clean my apartment....I haven't told my mom yet and I'm sure my great grandmother, who cleaned houses just to scrape by would roll in her grave...or at least roll her eyes. If she still had any and they weren't decomposed....) Anyhoo, they were great. They were so fast! We went across the street for breakfast and it was clean before we were done eating! It took a little over an hour. I definitely had my reservations about hiring a company for carpet cleaning that did not specialize specifically in carpets. But our entire apartment looks better than it did when we first moved in. I can't sing their praises enough. Please, if you are trying to bring the magic back to your carpet, (or at least just get your security deposit back) hire Jiffy Maids. Fatao and Maria were PHENOMENAL. My husband and I looked at each other and sighed yesterday when we moved the bed. The carpet underneath was a mess. We have a 1 y/o puppy that likes to drag things under the bed. There was a throw up stain (gross I know. don't judge us we didn't know it was under there!) and black spots from the coal he stole from the fireplace to play with. In addition to that there were two places where he didn't quite make it to the puppy pad in time and we didn't quite get to the soap and water in time. The carpet looks BRAND new.I admit I was skeptical when Fatao busted out a hand held steam cleaner with a cute little backpack attached. I expected it to look decent, acceptable. Just enough for our landlords to go to the bedroom, purse their lips, look around, pause and go "meh"...then send us our security deposit. I swear this pair of hard workers revived it to its original form. In fact, ...I would seriously work them into the budget if we were going to stay in DC. I used Jiffy Maids for a tenant move-out in Bloomingdale, DC. And it was a nightmare tenant. There was "party time" confetti all over the floors, stained walls and it was clear someone had gotten sick in the apartment at a party. The place had not been cleaned in months. These women were disgusted, but prepared to handle what they knew would be a bad scene. 4 hours later my condo was impeccable enough to turn over to a new tenant. The price was worth it, and I can't recommend this service enough. read more

Excellent cleaning service. I had a moveout cleaning for our condo, and planned to purchase a new fridge and stove. The crew cleaned both so thoroughly they looked brand new, and I didn't have to replace them at all. read more

I just began having our house cleaned (this was the second time ever). Working parents with hectic off kilter schedule, which why we justify a once a month cleaning. This is one of two services I've used, I like to compare and contrast before a long term commitments. Well long story short this business swung and missed. My headache from the chemicals used is nauseating, shoddy payment method (no receipt given, so I had to take picture with my phone), misc piles (pic attached). Upon arrival (on time) I welcomed the 3 ladies into my home, no friendliness, I tried to give them layout of place but they barged and charged ahead of me. Overall awkward encounter. I hired them a few months ago for a cleaning then my Candino watch went missing. I called to let them know and Lawrence (refuses to tell me his last name but claims to be the owner) got very defensive and rude, which leads me to believe this isn't the first time this has happened. Really wanted to give Jiffy Maids 5 stars because the office staff (Tammy) was able to send a crew to my house last minute without an appointment. However the subpar cleaning job overshadows the initial great customer service experience. When I initially spoke to Tammy to request a cleaning, I explicitly stated I wanted the kitchen and bathrooms to be a priority, and that I was looking for DEEP cleaning. Unfortunately I was not able to be present for the cleaning, so my mom (who speaks limited English) was left with the task of explaining what exactly needed to be cleaned. When I came home, expecting a fresh and clean house, I was confused as to why the oven had strange debris, stovetop/hood were still grimy, and shower tiles/toilet appeared untouched. Of course I immediately started snapping photos (see attached) so that I could call Jiffy Maids the next day. Also, the cleaning crew apparently had quite an attitude with my mom whenever she requested for something to be cleaned a little more, and they repeatedly demanded an extra charge of $125 for anything more than "standard" cleaning. I don't know if there was a miscommunication between Tammy and the cleaning crew, but I DID specifically request for DEEP cleaning services...so not only was I upset about the incomplete cleaning, but also upset that my mom was subjected to rudeness. It seems even the stuff listed as "standard" cleaning on their website was not done thoroughly. In the end, I decided to forgo having cleaners return to finish cleaning the house because I'd rather do it myself, even if it's hard work, than to have anyone be rude to my mother. The supervisor I spoke to (Lawrence) did eventually give me a "discount" but I still paid $300. Overall not worth the money and all the headache/stress caused. 2 stars only because initial service was great and I was provided with some compensation in the end. However I will not be using Jiffy Maids again. read more

I admit, they haven't even cleaned yet, but I'm overjoyed that they were able to accommodate me last minute. After getting a no show from another maid service (ahemMaidinDcahem), and then them not being able to accommodate me before my out of town guests arrived Friday, I was desperate. I called Jiffy Maids, explained the pinch I was in, asked if they could do a cleaning tomorrow and the lovely girl on the phone said "of course!" She then proceeded to outline what the standard clean was, get my information, asked all the relevant information when I told her I'd be leaving a key in the lock box out front, and took my card over the phone for payment. So easy, thorough, and convenient. I am really looking forward to the clean tomorrow, and hope it's as good as the customer service! read more

I live in a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment in Van Ness. You would think that unless we live in a penthouse apartment, were we to have a party, you wouldn't be able to fit more than 15 people comfortably. Well we did have said party. And I couldn't give you exact numbers on how many people we had in the apartment last night, but judging by the disaster zone my apartment looked like afterwards... well, have you ever seen Animal House? Ok well that wasn't our place, but it was too close for my liking My roommates and I were in no mood to clean the apartment this morning, but we were in a little bit of a bind because my roommates' parents were coming into town Saturday night... For some reason they are doing Thanksgiving at our apartment? Anyway, we just graduated, we put ourselves in situations like this. Regardless, anticipating this situation happening, I looked up some services on Yelp, made a calculated gamble, called Jiffy Maids late Friday and they had no problem booking me for this morning. They left a few hours ago, and without going into every little minute detail of things they cleaned and fixed, the bottom line is that I was very happy with the service. As a new graduate, I try to save money here and there as much as possible, but with how incredible the apartment looked after the service I had no problem calling them right back and opting into getting a biweekly cleaning, it looked that good. Roommates parents definitely called us out for getting a cleaning service to come (they knew we were not capable maintaining this clean an apartment). Definitely recommended. read more

I visit DC often since I moved away recently, and I have a friend from college that I've always stayed with. I've known her through multiple apartments, and they have always been messy! In fact, I think messy is an understatement because I'm sure there are things that were on her bathroom floor for at least 6 months. Now that she has a roommate and no longer lives in a studio, I don't mind sleeping at her house. Hopefully she doesn't see this, sorry! On my last trip to DC two weeks ago, her entire apartment actually looked clean, I was shocked! No more make-up or random toiletries on the bathroom floor, and all that dust and grime that had accumulated in the corners were gone. The rest of the apartment was sparkling, but it's usually pretty clean anyways. The carpets definitely looked cleaner than before though. But I have never in my life seen her bathroom and room that clean. She's also about to graduate from medical school though, so I'll give her a pass. I usually have a hard time hiding my expression, so my friend immediately asked me what was going on. I said her apartment looked amazing, and she said that Jiffy Maids had cleaned it. Seriously, anyone that can make her bathroom look that clean deserves 100 stars, I could lick the bathroom floor! Clearly I didn't.... I had to restrain myself and contain my excitement. They did a fantastic job! read more
