So, was happy with them for some things and not so happy with others. The good: They did clean a lot of things I didn't anticipate; and did a fantastic job on the owner's suite bathroom tub, caulk seal, and grout. The meh: Their dusting was just ok - a lot left in the blinds. The ugly: They turned my side table around to clean behind it, and things weren't returned to the state they were in. The drawers were facing the bed so they wouldn't open, the power cord management box was behind the side table vice beside it, lamps were unplugged. Also, we have those "Indows" plexiglass window inserts for sound isolation. They pulled one of them out (to clean the window i guess) and managed to scratch the plexiglass in the process - about a 4-5" gash, and did not put the indow back in. I mean, I thought they didn't do windows anyway? Why wouldn't they ask how it worked or if they should clean the window? I think if I were to have them back I'd have to supervise, or set expectations for them not to touch windows and to return things the way they were. read more

House smelled so good and I didn't want to cook or use the kitchen at all because it looked so good. Pricing is fair and the work is phenomenal. The team from E&G always leaves our house immaculate and gets to areas (oven, floor spots I didn't notice) much better than we ever do. We have 2 cats and they did an amazing job of successfully vacuuming as much pet dander as possible (as we have guests visiting soon who are allergic). I had no idea how gross our apartment was until I moved out. Where the bed and furniture had previously been was piles and piles of dog hair, random chargers, water bottles, etc. The inside of our cabinets were also pretty gross. Thank goodness E&G Housekeeping came to the rescue. Setting up an appointment with a few days notice was super easy, and the owner was very responsive to questions, both via yelp and via email. I wasn't home when the maids came, but checked in after and let me tell you, it was FLAWLESS. As if we had never lived there, and the two years of dirt and grime had never built up. Every cabinet was spotless, and there was literally 0 dog hair left. If you ever need a powerhouse of a maid service to whip your place into shape at move out, these are your ladies. Xenia and her team are great! They do excellent work, but most importantly for us, their scheduling system is great. We have a dog, who has to be out of the house for cleaning, and Xenia does a great job of pre-scheduling our monthly cleaning with a 3-5 day advance email to confirm arrival times/dates, etc. She's been very consistent and I've never once had the cleaners still be around when doggie and I return from our little jaunt. Their work has been excellent with only one incident where something was broken, which they quickly flagged and corrected. We've been very satisfied with their work and think the price is fair. With picky company (my mother and grandmother--haha!) coming into town and no time on my hands, I needed help and a deep cleaned apartment fast! After reaching out to a couple of companies, Xenia responded nearly instantly and said she had availability for the next day. From there, she made everything easy, asking for all of the necessary information right up front and leaving any instructions for me (how to pay, leaving the key, etc). When I returned home from work the next day, my apartment was SPOTLESS. It smelled delightful and the air felt clean. (Which made me question the normal quality of my air...) Nothing was left untouched. Even my dog's bowls had been cleaned!! I walked around for probably 10 minutes (jaw dropped) inspecting everything that they had touched. I spoke with the owner of this company via yelp and then via email regarding having my condo cleaned before I moved in. I provided Xenia with my location and what I wanted done at my property. We finally were able to agree on a date for the cleaning, and she asked me to email her to figure out what time would work well for them on that day of the service. Unfortunately, when I emailed Xenia she let me know that they didn't service my area and would be unable to complete the cleaning. I found issue with this, because on this company's website it says they service Washington DC. If you know anything about the geography of DC, the city is only 15 miles from top to bottom, so for a company to say they do not service a a particular area in DC seems fishy to me. It was shocking to me that if there was in fact a logistics issue for that day (as Xenia tried to back track and say after I called her out SMH) that the owner did not try to offer an alternative day when it would make more sense for her team to complete the job. I'm left to assume that this company provides false advertisement, and horrible customer service. read more

Although Xenia is a very nice person, I would not recommend E & G Housekeeping for recurring service. I was referred to this company by a woman who used to clean for me but decided to close her business. I then talked with Xenia and explained what I needed, including my preferences on number of people coming to clean and the various cleaning products. We then agreed to price, date and time every two weeks, etc. The first cleaning went as expected and was great. Then each week following, Xenia began changing things, including time of arrival. New "trainees" were then included with the primary cleaning person and time spent at my house became shorter (although my price stayed the same). I finally texted and emailed Xenia to talk about what was occurring, but she did not respond. The cleaning crew then just did not show up at the next appointed time. I was left hanging with no explanation. E & G Housekeeping may be good for one-time cleaning, but I definitely would not recommend them for recurring visits. read more

My husband and I moved into our condo back in July of '15 and have slowly been getting to place up to snuff so we can start having get-togethers. All this time we haven't really kept up with the cleaning and our furniture was starting to get dusty with the kitchen faring worst of all (we prepare 3 meals a day in it most days). When we got married, we decided to save a little money and host a small reception at our dirty condo. Through a little digging (and many questionable businesses), we happened to find this 5-star rated cleaning service. The cleaners did an amazing job and we're so happy we hired them. They brought their own supplies, 3 ladies, and were done in a few hours. The stovetop looked cleaner than it did when we moved in. All surfaces were gleaming. The entire condo just looked brighter. On top of that, when it came time to pay, we were asked to pay even less than our quote was, which was already a bargain! We had a schedule conflict right before the cleaners were to arrive, but Xenia was very responsive to email so I could get her new directions. We're so happy with our experience, we may end up having them clean on a regular basis. We certainly need another cleaning post-reception (our guests were a little messy). E & G Housekeeping was absolutely a godsend during our move. After moving all our belongings and packing, I had absolutely no desire to clean our small one bedroom rowhome apartment. I have been using E&G for about six months now, and have zero complaints! They were my first hire after relocating to DC, and I fully expected to go through a few before I found the right fit. Their regular cleaning service is phenomenal-- they are professional, never miss a thing, and take their time. In addition to the deep cleaning, they put things back where they go. I never walk in and feel like the job was rushed. I work from home which can be tricky to manage but they are very respectful and always on time. I am writing this review about half an hour after the team of three left. My house looks great! I have way too much stuff in my house which makes it difficult to clean, but they really did a good job. I am especially excited that they moved things on surfaces to clean under them. (You'd be surprised how many people won't do that-even when it's just a book or two). My kitchen and bathroom especially are spotless. They dusted each of my five panel doors! (Again this never happens.) They said after three cleanings my house will look better so I can't wait to see how clean it will be in the future! (Because it looks pretty amazing to me now!) Excellent service! I'm a bit of a neat freak and have been disappointed with some of the cleaning services I've used recently. E&G Housekeeping far and away exceeded my expectations. It was very easy to make an appointment with Xenia. The crew showed up on time and were extremely professional. But it was the actually cleaning that had me impressed. The crew was extremely efficient and easily worked around me while I was working from home. Throughout the cleaning, the question that kept popping into my head was "They clean that too?!". For example...I don't recall many (if any) cleaning crews that wiped down all the runny residue from the shampoo/soap bottles in the shower or cleaned both sides of the kitchen trash can lid. And there were numerous other things they completed as if it were a given, and didn't require any prompting from me. After the cleaning, they asked me to inspect their work and let me know if I wanted anything addressed. I can honestly say everything was perfect. In fact it was so nice, I was afraid to touch anything for fear of messing things up. LOL. Bottom line I'm sold on E&G and will definitely be using them again and again. read more

This review is for booking E&G's services only because... I'm in need of a house cleaning and, seeing the rave reviews just yesterday (~530pm) I requested a quote online for a cleaning. I waited 30 minutes - nothing. In fact, no response for the rest of the night (and their posted hours are until 10pm). OK, well people get busy. Right now, it's 2pm the next day and still no response. I even just tried calling 5 minutes ago and got a random, unmarked voicemail. It's too bad because I wanted to try this service out from all of the great reviews, including other companies I've used that are also listed here on Yelp. I bought the Groupon for Maid2Be. It was very easy to set up an appointment - I made one for this past Friday, two days before my wedding and a ton of guests. Although our maid was 40 minutes late (understandably it's hard to park where I live), they did a great job cleaning. They really did go through a comprehensive checklist - cleaning my most important priorities: cabinet facings, baseboards, dusting, etc. I would definitely use them again next time I need a cleaning. I contracted for a deep cleaning--kind of move out, but with me staying in.Three women, who I can only call miracle workers, arrived and cleaned my one bedroom/den apartment well beyond my expectations. They took a little less time than the projected four hours because I had one space that I hadn't cleared. As I watched them, I was able to get some pointers that I can use between cleanings.
