Never heard of this place. Met some friends who have been here several times. Definitely a hidden gem. See the photos for its history, etc, but there are cute cabins to rent , an outpost ( food, drinks, souvenirs and bait sold; I had a root beer float); nightly entertainment, and plenty of chairs for relaxing. Saw a few carloads of ? College aged kids parking and getting ready for some early evening fishing. Just a fun and relaxing place to visit. read more

If you're expecting some high end yacht club, head somewhere else. But if you want a laid back, comfortable, old school Florida spot to come relax with a beautiful lake, a winding river, and amazing sunsets, you found the perfect spot. The Old Braden River Historical Society (which I was part of and so was Denise, who runs the Outpost) worked with Manatee County to restore and rebuild Jiggs Landing, in honor of Al (Jiggs) and Agnes Metcalf, who purchased this place in 1944 and started the fish camp tradition. It now has great fishing, a stellar boat launch, a handicapped canoe/kayak launch, snack bar restaurant (with full menu including adult beverages), rentable rustic cabins, fishing dock, floating dock, pontoon boat river tours, playground, picnic tables and even live sunset music pretty much daily. Can't say enough wonderful things about this place, so head over, crack open a cold one, and enjoy the beautiful nature of Florida. read more

Ok yea. So here's FYI for you all. Workers not all that friendly nor helpful. The one good thing is sceneries we nice and relaxing. But the food situation is not correct the pricing is off u are charged more than the menu shows I paired 4.20 for a 20oz bottle of coke. Menu shows 2.50. And hot dog on menu is more on menu we had so yea I asked cashier and stayed I want the difference back. She said no she can't do that with a little attitude. But once she seen I wasn't gonna go away with out saying a little more she stayed what do me to do I didn't want any food or anything else from her. SO BECARFULL. AT THIS PLACE. ALSO THE PRICES R NOT CHEAP. I MEAN 8 or 9 dollars for just a hotdog and kettle chips there's no wait staff or anything. Come on I can go and buy a pack of the sabrretts hot dogs they use So I can't vouch for how food tast. Cleanliness needs work. Food sub par. Prices above average for the area. Too bad because its location is great.

The area looked pretty and there were absolutely zero patrons to the outpost. We packed a picnic for my elderly parents, myself and son. We approached several picnic tables with zero signage as to any restrictions. Upon nearly finishing our sandwiches, we were met by the most rude lady telling us there was a sign up by the building (facing the opposite direction) that said what tables belonged to the business and the park. We were hurting their business by eating a sack lunch and called me a liar when I told her there was no sign from parking around the building and to the tables. Evidently two of the many picnic tables belong to their business....maybe gave your sign to where people will see it better???? We had planned to purchase a sunset tour to see alligators.......I wouldn't spend a nickel to support this rude woman. read more

ONE Star for the fact that the shared showers and bathrooms were the furthest away from Cabin 1, which were the accommodations. Four stars for the cleanliness of the cabin. Cabins are bare bones: bed(s), chair(s), lamp, small table, hooks to hang things, window a/c, TV with Roku which continuously lost connection except for the last day when check out is 11am. Five stars for location on the Braden River. To awaken to the sounds of native birds at sunrise and walk on the boardwalk with fresh air in your lungs was invigorating. The Sarasota Bicycle Club stopped by on their morning ride. In the evening there's live music to unwind as you enjoy the sunset. Plenty of retail stores just West on SR 70, so no need to panic if you forget your toothbrush like I did. Location is close to Sarasota; only about 15--20 minutes to downtown. The drive to Bradenton beaches seemed longer than the drive to Lido Beach and Siesta Key. Rates are $80/night, $65 for Manatee County residents. Not too shabby if you don't mind having to walk a bit and share bath/shower facilities with other cabin dwellers. read more

This is a wonderful venue. Cool breezes off the water. Great seating close to the performers. Bring your camp chair, or if lucky get one of the Adirondack chairs on site. A great 3 hours of relaxing. Check out the comings & goings of the resident Osprey family. The musical performers range from very good to so-so. They perform for tips. Cover charge only on Friday and Saturday-- $5 per person. You can't beat this. Drinks are cheap--Example: Jai Alai Beer , and Cayman Jack margarita is about $11.85 total. We love this place !!! It's our go to place after a round of golf. They have to hire another person to help with the beer and food ordering. They have to streamline the drink ordering. Separate the food and cabin rental/kayak rental, cruise tickets, Nothing worse than standing in line for drinks, really needing a drink, when a Mom, finally at the window is trying to determine which of her kiddos wants popcorn or chips and maybe a hot dog. Two windows---drinks only, and food and all other purchases. Their drink sales would increase by at least 30% . That's where the profit is ! Yes, we visit frequently during our month in Florida. Love this place and location. I regularly workout here in the mornings. It's tranquil, has a good vibe and is usually pretty much my private sanctuary along with the other 3 people here during the weekdays. I did once have their Jiggs Landing breakfast sandwich and it was meh...only so much you can do with an English muffin, egg and piece of cheese. Give it a go. I'm confident you'll enjoy your time at Jiggs Landing and their offerings are plenty. read more

The bathroom and shower were filthy with old bars of soap with hair on it and wet toilet paper all over the floor, and the garbage cans were overflowing. They were told they were dirty, and they still did not bother cleaning them. There was poor lighting at night; you had to walk to the bathroom in the dark. read more

YES * Tips? Bring a pillow case/blanket, maybe some sheets and maybe an egg padding for the beds. This was a pretty cool place. It was a place to stay for a quick trip. We liked it and thought it was cool. The place was piece mealed for their cabbins. The bed sheets and stuff look like they need to be restored, since there are a few stains in them. Be prepared to use a public restroom for shower and bathroom needs. They are individual and lockable, but only two for 5 or however many cabbins there are. They seem to be nice and have a cool little shop for fishing and breakfast. If youre into a cool little very minimal outdoor get out of town place this might be just for you. We went with some friends recently and had a good time but if you eat and drink watch your receipt. They automatically add a 20% tip and also have a tip jar sitting out by the order window. My husband put money in the tip jar not realizing they had already added it to our bill. If you go to the window to order they also add $5.00 per person as a cover charge and give you a wristband. Jiggs Landing is an old fish camp that Manatee County saved by turning it into a park. It is under new management and offers boat rentals, boat tours, kayak and canoe rentals. There are a few rustic cabins with a great view of the reservoir, and like the name implies they share a public restroom. The shop now carries REAL ice cream and sells a variety of beer. We were there on Veterans Day for live music and happy hour drinks. It was a great way to wrap-up the day! read more

The cafe is OPEN!!! They are just getting going, so the menu is limited... pancakes & eggs and a number of tasty variations... At this point more concession fare+ rather then a true restaurant... but pretty darn good! If you ever have had breakfast at the county beach on Anna Maria, it has a similar feel, but without the crush of people. They have covered seating, great views and a quick nature walk for when you are done... if your looking for no frills good food and a little relaxation this is the place. read more
