Fishing: plenty of structure and you can expect to catch mangrove snappers, sheepshead, sharks, lady fish and your standard pier baitfish. Decent current that flows under the ringling overpass. The bait shop live shrimp was decently priced and the convenience of proximity is worth noting. If it's low tide you can head down to the oyster bed and pick some mud crabs and mangrove crabs for bait. 2. Waterfront playground: Super clean and padded playground area. Plenty of benches to watch the sunset. I believe some adults also try to use a section for exercise. Oldest bait shop in sarasota! This place seems run down, but thats because its as mentioned, the oldest bait shop in sarasota. This place sells bait that fits the fishes likings here! I get so much catches using the baits, mainly shrimp. It is so convenient when fishing at the Tony Saprito Fishing Pier, along with a observation deck behind the shop, which i always see huge snooks and other fish lying behind. 5.25 for a dozen of live shrimp which I think is pretty solid. Hart's Landing is a fishing spot right before the Causeway Bridge in Sarasota. There is a bait and tackle store, also a nice dock where boats up pull into. I believe you can have fish cleaned and filleted here as well. On the other side of the bridge at Causeway Park, there is a huge fishing pier, check that out as well! read more

Actually this is my family business that has been around for a very long time. My Uncle Demus was the original owner and my father Bill Hart grew up in Sarasota helping with the business, later the business was run by my nephew Dennis who passed away too young. This is by far the BEST bait shop available in Sarasota!!! And the staff is wonderful. Most of the employees know the products, and if they don't, they get the answer quickly. They know what's biting, what they're hitting on, wether they're in season or not, and legal weights and lengths. And they teach you the anatomical landmarks on the fish so you know where to measure from. They keep you abreast of all new laws as well! read more

Went on a fishing charter with Captain David. It was awesome! He was so accommodating and patient with out group. We had a blast and caught 2 sharks, one 8 foot nurse shark and one 12 foot nurse shark. We would do it again in a hear beat. read more

Super beautiful place to watch the sunset . 4 ladies from Illinois who braved the cool Sarasota temps and a vice presidential motorcade which shut down traffic over the bridge and Dan was so kind and kept us company. trash. dont even rent their poles because half of them are broken or have no line on them. they dont issue refunds even when they were the problem. easier to go buy cheap poles than have their garbage. read more
