I just don't know what to make of the place, self full filling prophecy? Perhaps. Lousy business sense, more like it. We stopped in to buy 16 dozen shrimp, brouse the store, pick up some lures, the usual vacation crap. Now I'm not one for a lot of attention, but a how ya doin, whatcha need, need any advice, first time here, would be nice. It was pretty clear we were area newbs. Oh well, shrimp in the bucket and out. We did chuckle about the prior reviews. All that said, we were back over the next several days, not many choices in the area. Our group probably spent a couple hundred bucks in there, and not much changed with the owner. Not one where ya been fishing. Maybe he doesn't fish?? The one ray of sunshine was a young employee. He had more interest in the 2 seconds we met him..then....ugh. The one thing that really aggravated me, the kid started to share a fishing spot with me, after spending 50 on bait and stuff and the owner shooed him away. Customers were waiting for shrimp...wtf. It's called good business, guarantee the customers were ALL listening. I shrugged it off, but it was aggravating. Stopped back one more time to find just the young employee running the shop, whole different feeling in the place. Hmmm. Now about the shrimp, after buying dozens throughout the week, so many were unfishably small. Not sure why, lots of possibilities. Just check the tank before you buy. read more

Don't even give this tackle shop a chance. We've been coming here for years and have tried them several times. They are rude and act like they don't give a sh#t about your business. They never say hi when you enter and don't offer any assistance whatsoever. They tried to charge me $43 for some tiny shrimp and a block of chum. When I said $43? Are you kidding me? He said $23 and his excuse was that he didn't hear so good. It doesn't surprise me that the reviews are the same. Read how the owner doesn't try to fix the problem and goes on about how hard it is to get good shrimp. Also he has the nerve to tell the reviewer to not tell him how to run his business. What a jerk! Go to Lower Keys Tackle. It's about a block away. The staff is great and they treat you right. read more

The poor quality bait (that was placed in a commercial livewell by the way) wasn't my biggest issue, it was the rude service I received from one of the two males that was behind the counter working. As a fellow business owner the first thing I would have done was to ask the complaining customer about the situation after receiving the negative Post (not respond. With a post over 5 months later) and I would have talked to my employee about what happened. Not try to make a public post telling me how to transport bait and blaming the customer. I spent several weeks in that area fishing and I was glad I went to your store first as after the terrible experience with your bait store we had great luck down the road at your competition who really has a classy store and his employees are well trained and act like professionals, maybe you should stop in and take some notes. read more
