I wanted to change my hair color and I was aiming for an ashy gray or silver type of look. I wanted somewhere local in Vancouver because IF I did find the one, then I'd only have to travel to Vancouver and not cross any dreadful bridges. I yelped and found Haircolor by Deborah with a few reviews and lots of pictures. I did a quick glance of the reviews and pictures and it seemed promising. We spoke over the phone and we agreed on an appointment. The first meetup we discussed the color and length of my hair. I have dark brown hair with some previously treated light brown and dense hair that was about half my back. I showed her the pictures of the color I wanted and she started off with a cut. She cut a GOOD chunk of my hair. I was fine with that because most of it was deads and I needed shorter hair. Easier for both our ends. When it came to the coloring, she did some weaving and bleached my hair. Then lastly, the toning. This whole process took from 11am to almost 5pm (6 hours). And at the end of it, there was BARELY any difference from my old and new color even after washes. It wasn't just me, it was everyone that saw me the next day. So yes, I was not satisfied and I wanted AT LEAST a change in color if I was going to pay almost $400. Yes, $400. So I had to text her back to let her know I wasn't satisfied and I needed it lighter, at least closer to the color I wanted. I came back to her, she did her usual, but this time she took only about 3 hours instead of 6. She was able to sneak me in between her customers so it took less. This time my hair turns out "different" and with a definite change. But was it what I wanted still? Nope. I ended up with blue streaks in the front which she says it will wash out. I believe her, because color always wash out. My friends all said that. So I'll be patient and wash it out. It took almost 2 weeks for it come out. TWO WEEKS. I didn't ask for blue, why does it take two weeks?! I've had people with color like that last two weeks....... I'm obviously upset because I paid sooooooo much and I still didn't get what I want. I'm not a cheapbutt, because I came in expecting to pay a lot for it already IF I was going to get what I want. $400 to get 10 hours of color, a cut, a bottle of shampoo/conditioner, was too much. My hair color isn't want I wanted. I could have easily went to some place in Portland for half the cost and get the color I wanted. I tried to express my feelings to her and tell her this but she insisted that the other places use cheap coloring. Excuse me, but everyone that has went there have achieved the color they wanted and were left satisfied. Plus, they didn't spend 10 hours. So maybe re-evaluate your process and ingredients that you use instead? But to be fair, now that I look back at the before and after pictures, it didn't seem like Deborah would be the right fit for someone like me. So shame on me. *Pictures to be posted soon*
