Well, here I am 9 years later and still a loyal customer. I have not had anyone do my hair other than Jyl in the last 11 years. She is an artist with hair! I literally have an appointment tomorrow. Every time I leave the salon I feel renewed not only physically but mentally as well. I made an appointment for a haircut wanting a major change from my long hair. I think the stylist was fresh out of cosmetology college. She really didn't know how to cut short hair without using the clippers. I didn't want that, I wanted a soft wispy neckline. I wanted a funky asymmetrical pixie/bob. I think she underestimated how much hair I have and she doesn't have much experience with a razor to remove some of the bulk. I don't blame the stylist, she's a lovely person. I blame the salon owner as I texted a picture of what I wanted when I was making the appointment. After 2 hours in the chair, I left so upset! I don't remember ever crying after a haircut. I used to be a licensed cosmetologist and I usually cut my own hair because of instances like this. I'll go back to cutting my own hair. read more

I was in town for Christmas to visit my parents. I am going through a major transition: separation, baby, dogs dying, school almost finished, new job opportunity, etc. Major life shift stuff. I went in to get my hair dyed, which hasn't happened since I was a hair model almost 10 years ago. I was thinking of something fun for the Kindergartners I would be teaching in January. I made an appt with Jessica. She gave me peacock peek-a-boo, so while my hair isn't radically a different color, you can see purples and blues when my hair blows in the wind or I toss my hair back. She evened me out and did whatever my bangs were in desperate need of. It is the best cut and color of my life. I love it. Enough to consider flying back every few months to always look (and feel) good. My toddler loves to brush my hair now. Also, I brought my toddler not totally thinking about how long it would be, everyone was pretty patient with her. She was kinda well behaved...for a 2 year old. As a Japanese American male, western stylist typically are not able to cut asian hair properly. I drive all the way from Beaverton to see Jessie because she gets it and cuts my hair like any Asian stylist I've known and had in past. She's an amazing stylist that is super friendly and sweet. She's very attentive to what I'm asking style wise and always makes sure I'm happy with my cut. I never have an issue with getting in, I shoot her a text and she makes a time slot that works for my schedule. Saving my bang mistake. That I did to my teen. Yep, I'm THAT mom. Nothing makes a teen girl feel worse than a horrid hair-do. I called the salon this morning after my kiddo practically cried trying to fix her hair for school. The salon itself is small but very well organized, and it has a charm all it's own, as does all of Camas, really. I thought the prices and the service were amazing! It usually takes 4-5 hours minimum to do my hair because it's so long, but my hair got ombré color in an hour, and I was out of there in two. (My time is valuable!). The outcome for the effect was phenomenal and I got a lot of compliments on it. I highly recommend the salon! read more

I had a terrible haircut at this place. Got about 4 inches chopped off but after I got home, found some long strands remaining in the back. Very unprofessional. And I showed a picture of myself with the same cut a few years ago, and this one is nothing like it. I have very thick hair, and it needs to be undercut to get that look. I decided to give Jyl a chance and I am 100% happy that I did. I have been coming to The Wild Hair for about 10 years. These gals are so talented! Every one of them. Jyl, the owner always up for a hair challenge. She has owned this shop for over 25 years and is a local gal who's roots go back a few generations. I used her for many years. Jennifer is who I see now. She is always coming up with creative ideas for me. I trust her to do what she wants with my hair and I am never ever disappointed. She does a great job on my highlights and I get compliments all the time from friends and strangers alike. Natalie has done my hair as well and she has such a gift. She also does fabulous vivid hair colors on males and females. Every time I come in, someone is creating a vivid color on a client. I can't wear the vivid colors at work or I would give it a try. They are the best in town in my opinion and they don't charge an arm and a leg. A haircut still only costs $25 here. Don't let the low price fool you, these gals are good at their craft and they always listen to you. They all have clients that travel from various parts of Oregon and Washington so give them a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

One particular stylist is really obnoxious. Almost insulting with her over use of recommendations and what sounds like babbling nonsense. Wanting to use extra this'n that. Ultimately it felt like she wasn't actually capable of the job. Which was a very simple cut and a few foils. I took a photo. She just kept stating the obvious. She seemed really annoyed when I asked for bangs. She didn't deliver and still charged a shocking $115 for really nothing. I've gone to her before a few of yrs ago. I said to myself I never would again. But I didn't recognize her until it was too late, because she plumped up a bit after she'd apparently quit smoking. Which BTW was one of the reasons I didn't like her then. She kept running outside every 10 min to puff and then would put her stinky hands in my hair. Plus she just didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. I know the Wild Hair has some great and talented hairdressers. But choose wisely. You'll know her as soon as she opens her mouth. Being new to area I chose this location based on Yelp recommendation. Friendly people but my money would have been better spent at Great Cuts. Not at all salon quality skills or aesthetics. A small shop that appears cluttered, unkept and dated, very uncomfortable waiting bench and over priced for the service I received. read more
