5 stars for: food, service, hometown family vibe. They easily handled our entire (33 hungry bicyclists) group with excellent service & entrees. Their 2 lunch specials were the popular choices today. I chose the fish burger and a salad-both were very good and didn't fill me up too much before biking back. I regretted not being able to enjoy a piece of homemade pie but I bought a cookie to enjoy later. read more

Great small hometown cafe with phenomenal food. I ordered the texas toast eggs benedict and OMG, delicious, I always wish I could have a little more sauce and sometimes I even ask for it upon ordering, well I didn't ask for more but woozier!nLook ate the amount of yummy sauce they automatically put on. The has browns were done to perfection also. Now their pie I would give 15 stars to, such unique pies too, ever had a special K pie? Nummy. All there cream pies are so big, almost too much for even 2 people, and they are all homemade in house and are get this $4.50 a slice. Very clean establishment! Friendly staff I decided on a patty melt and a bowl of chili at 9 am, not from the area and figured try something different The patty melt was a good burger with fried onions and American and Swiss cheese I believe on rye bread ( didn't pay to much attention as I was hungry I guess No complaints there on the patty melt As for the bowl of chili....lets say I'd get it again Very hearty,meaty chili No complaints there for a homemade chili All in all I'd recommend stopping by as the menu had many many different options and some pies for dessert in the glass case Once again no pictures of the food I'll try to remember next time read more

I had heard good things about this place so I was quite surprised when all I could find on the menu was breakfast and a la carte fried bar food. The place is quaint, but advertising placemats at each table ruin the feel a bit. We made the mistake of asking for water with lemon but instead of telling us they didn't have any lemons, they gave us little packets of "true lemon". I'd rather they forgot the "lemon". I had a burger with a cup of soup (a la carte as they don't automatically come with sides). The burger was good as burgers go, I'll give them that. The server forgot my soup but brought it when reminded and what they called "Italian Vegetable" was really chili with noodles, no vegetables. While the flavor was good, I wouldn't call it a soup, let alone the soup advertised. My companion ordered a butterfly shrimp basket that came with fries. She got popcorn shrimp. When we pointed out the error to the server, she simply stared at us with not even an apology. Nothing special about that frozen/fried food. The pie looked delicious so we thought we'd end on a high note with a piece of cream pie, but the pie looked better than it tasted. The cream filling was over whipped and tasteless, what a bummer! For a small town cafe, it might not be that bad, but if you have a car and can get somewhere else, I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

Jill's cafe was a pleasant surprise for my family. We've been coming to Richmond for 30+ years, and even though Jill's has not been opened that long, we just now tried them. Great small town restaurant. Friendly staff and accommodating chef. My sister has diabetes and the chef happily made her a chicken cordon bleu that was grilled and not fried. I ordered the grilled ham and cheese and it was a solid sandwich. Plenty of meat! Everyone enjoyed their meal and we will definitely be coming back next time we're in Richmond! read more

This is a good home-town family-owned cafe. They have breakfast and lunch items. Not a large menu, but the food tastes good for the most part. The burgers are made with freshly ground beef which is looser than normal beef and very flavorful. The malt I got was huge and delicious! Breakfast here is also good. They have all the basics as well as a pancake-French toast combo item. Prices are low and good! Burgers and sandwiches don't come with sides but you can add your own sides. My family was just passing through town after a stop in Darwin to see a giant ball of twine. We needed lunch and weren't expecting much. Jill's Cafe was a nice surprise. It had a good small-town vibe, was full of locals and the servers were friendly. The best thing we ordered was the shrimp burger. It was sort of like a crab cake style patty on a bun, and was unique and tasty! Onion rings and tots were also excellent. The fries were a bit underdone and the cheeseburger, while big, was just meat and cheese on a bun. A closer look at the menu revealed that only the "California" burger comes with lettuce and tomato. I always thought California = avocado, but I guess out here it means any fresh produce? One minor complaint I had is that their menu and signage proclaimed that they have free wi-fi, but it did not seem to be working. I probably sound like a big city elitist with my demands for fresh vegetables and wi-fi, sorry about that. read more

For a small town this place is amazing. The burgers are the best!! Fresh from local butchers and hand pattied you can truly taste the difference. It is very small so seating is limited but any wait is worth it. Breakfast all day, all you can eat fish on Saturday nights. I highly recommend the Jack Deluxe with fries. I've been to Jill's Café at least a dozen times over the last 10 years and each time the food has been delicious. Jill's is a comfortable, small town café with friendly staff and local patrons that are quick to make you feel welcome. Their burgers are the best and soups are amazing. I don't know if they are all made at the restaurant, but they sure seem to be more homemade than packaged food from a distributor. We'll continue to visit Jill's Café when in the area. read more

I came here the other night with family, we were the only ones there when we first got there. Two girls at the front counter yet no greeting upon walking in. We sat down at whatever table since no one directed us to sit in certain spot. The waitress had far from any type of socialization and customer service skills. She was quiet while we were ordering and didn't say a single word when she brought us our food either. The restaurant was dead quiet, and the lack of conversation made us feel unwelcome. Other customers started showing up and I noticed she was doing the same thing. Extremely silent, never asking how our food was and not saying anything when she was dropping it off. A simple "here you go" or "enjoy" goes so far. My friend and I ordered a cheeseburger. Both of our burgers didn't fit on the bun. It's like the chef didn't know burgers are supposed to be round and probably the size of the bun to make it easy to eat. I don't feel as though we should have to "fix" our food before eating it, and the fries were extremely undercooked. Normally I wouldn't go out of my way to "complain" like this, but I feel as though the issues I experienced are EXTREMELY easy to fix. Like I said, I liked the menu..but the food could have been executed better and the lack of customer service should be looked into. read more
