Highlander Cold Brew &. Banana Cream Muffin

I heard that this coffee shop was under new ownership and happened to be in the area over the weekend, so figured why not! The aesthetic of the shop is great, such a unique addition to the community. They have a little gift shop off to the left when you first walk in in with a variety of gifts and handmade items, as well as loose leaf tea and canned local brews. Behind the coffee shop, there is a boutique shop in the detached garage filled with beautiful home decor, handmade products, and clothing. Their coffee menu is pretty extensive, they have a HUGE list of flavors to choose from. The baristas behind the counter were really friendly and patient while we decided what to order. I went with their Highlander cold brew : vanilla, caramel, and buttered rum with cold foam. My companion tried their featured flavor Peaches & Cream in an iced latte. We snagged one of their banana cream muffins, it looked so good sitting there in the case! The drinks were very good, I really enjoyed the buttered rum flavor in mine. The muffin had a nice crumb and the banana flavor was there, the cream in the middle was a little thick and flavorless for my tastes. Next time we visit I am going to try one of their sandwiches, they sounded amazing. There is plenty of outdoor seating, both on the front porch and out around the back. The exterior of the shop could maybe use a touch up, but again that could just be part of the aesthetic. The house would really make an impact painted all black. This coffee shop with its updates is a great addition to the small town community and I would love to go back again soon to try more of their flavors!

Drove by initially without noticing the business, despite it being easy to spot once we realized we were looking for a house turned business. Homey feel, friendly people and good coffee. We didn't order any food. Highlander was fantastc & the Milky Way was aptly named. Roughly $9 for the 2.

Huge fan of this place. It recently changed hands and one of the biggest changes is that the owner roasts his own coffee so your getting a flavor unique to this place. This is such a wonderful local place where both the baked goods and coffee are just fantastic. Whether you're passing through or local and looking for a place do yourself favor and visits this absolute gem of a place.

I ordered the monster melt and an iced caramel latte. YUM! Super cute little coffee shop. Much prefer this over a big chain like Starbucks.

Yummy dairy-free coffee and breakfast sammy. Thank you for being a place I can safely hang while my doggie has dental surgery!

It's tucked into a great…read moreshopping area, which makes it the perfect place to grab a drink before browsing nearby stores or to settle in for a productive afternoon. The atmosphere strikes a really nice balance between modern hipster café and work-from-home headquarters. There are plenty of people chatting with friends, while others are focused on laptops, creating a relaxed but energetic vibe that never feels too loud or too quiet. The coffee itself is where Kingdom Coffee really shines. Their menu feels thoughtfully curated, with drinks that have unique flavor profiles without trying too hard to be different. Even their standard blends stood out--they had a natural sweetness that was smooth and balanced, never overpowering or overly sugary. It's the kind of coffee that lets the quality of the beans do the talking. The staff was welcoming, the space was comfortable, and the overall experience made me want to stay longer than I planned. Whether you're looking for a quality cup of coffee, a place to get some work done, or just a relaxing stop while exploring the area, Kingdom Coffee is absolutely worth the visit. It's a standout coffee shop and definitely one of the better spots to check out in Minneapolis.

The drinks were absolutely worth the wait! I ordered the iced blueberry vanilla matcha, and it was phenomenal. The mulled blueberries at the bottom were such a great touch! Super cute place. They have some indoor and outdoor seating (tables and booth) available. I appreciate how the menu is displayed so you don't feel rushed to read it by the time you order. There is a small selection of baked goods, including gluten-free options. I also really appreciated how clearly the menu labels which drinks and foods are gluten-free and lists what's in each drink. I would definitely come back again!

We rolled in a little before 1:00 PM and had no trouble finding easy street parking (huge win!). The vibe inside? Mixed. While the space was cute, relaxed and inviting, the service was... not so much. The guy at the front counter barely looked up from his screen, and let's just say, enthusiasm wasn't on the menu. Definitely not the warm welcome we hoped for and very unfortunate. BUT--shoutout to my bestie for treating us to a coffee date, because the drinks were solid. I had the piña colada cold brew, which was super sweet at first, but after a quick stir, it hit just right. My bestie went with the strawberries & cream cold brew and a matcha lemonade. Both were surprisingly good, but the matcha lemonade really stood out to me; so refreshing and unique. All in all, Backstory was a convenient and tasty pre-concert stop. If the service matched the drinks, this would've easily been a 5-star visit.
