Something told me that David was shady and we had some negative interactions, but the loan was already too far along to cancel at that point. They set up my equipment lease for quarterly payments, which I didn't know quarterly lease payments even existed. I never asked for quarterly and was not happy when I found out, but again, it was already too late by that time. I even questioned him about it, but he said something along the line that this was their typical practice. Now 6 years later, at the end of my lease I learned the real reason why they did this. I recently contacted Balboa because, per my records, I had paid 1 extra installment that I thought they had somehow misapplied. I paid "prorated rent" at the start of the lease just short of $30k, which I was told amounts to 1 full payment plus some other fees. Back in 2019, I just assumed that is was my first installment because of the timing, but 6 years later I am being told that NONE of the "prorated rent" gets applied towards the loan--it is a completely separate fee--and that the fine print allowed them to charge me a full installment and then some. So basically, I paid an additional $30k for my own machine! David was able to scam me out of 3x more money by writing my lease as quarterly than if it was written as a normal monthly lease. Even the Sales Manager who helped me look into this matter admitted that I was scammed and he was very apologetic. He said he would never have written a lease like that. He tried to see if he could get me some sort of compensation, but Balboa refused. This David White scammer is still with Balboa today and is still a supervisor.

Her combination of practical financial knowledge and thoughtful understanding of our family's goals allowed us to plot a path forward that we hadn't been able to achieve on our own. We've already passed her name on to a few friends looking for some financial therapy. Can't recommend highly enough.

With each meeting, we made meaningful progress. Michelle helped us see clearly where our spending was going and guided us in creating a realistic, sustainable budget that still allows us to enjoy our lives while saving toward our biggest goal--purchasing our dream home. What once felt far off now feels achievable much sooner than we expected. Perhaps the most valuable part of the experience was the confidence and clarity Michelle helped us build as a couple. Our conversations around finances are now more productive, aligned, and positive than ever before. We're only a week out from our final session, and already feel the impact of the work we did together. I'm excited to look back in 3 months, 6 months, and a year from now and see how far we've come thanks to Michelle's guidance. I can't recommend her highly enough.

The most concerning points of my experience: * Neglect During Crisis: In March 2023, I explicitly disclosed to Laurie that I was facing a severe health crisis and a high-distress relocation. Instead of the "extensive monitoring" required by the SEC for vulnerable clients, I was met with total silence for 36 months. * Administrative Failure: When confronted, the firm attempted to blame a "marketing unsubscribe" for their three-year disappearance. A true fiduciary's duty to monitor a client's life savings is not a "mailing list" option--it is a legal requirement that this firm failed to meet. * Zero Accountability: Despite an internal audit showing nearly $1,500 in fees taken for unrendered services during a massive market shift, the firm (and their compliance partner, GWN Securities) refused any settlement or restitution, forcing me to escalate to FINRA. Bottom Line: If you are a high-performing professional who expects active management and integrity, look elsewhere. You may find yourself paying for a "partnership" that doesn't exist once the paperwork is signed. I have moved my assets to a new firm to ensure they are actually being watched.

I was very impressed with my free evaluation consultation session with Daniel…read more I have always been hesitant with financial advisers because I've experienced a few of them who are "pushy" and are always trying to upsell. Furthermore I was a little concerned that this eval would turn into a "buy a full financial plan from me" type of thing. This was not the case with Daniel at all. He asked a lot of great questions, he took a lot of notes and gave me a great idea of where I'm at in my financial planning adventure. For me, I've done a lot myself and he was great to bounce ideas of things that I have been thinking or what I can do better. We both agreed that it probably wasn't time for me to dive all in to a full financial plan due to where I am at in my life and what I have been doing on my own. He was forthcoming in that he doesn't think that, at this moment, he would add significant amount more value to what I have already done on my own. He recommended that he can be available to bounce ideas off of in an hourly fashion. To me this is huge. I was half-expecting to not get any ideas/thoughts without signing up for a full financial plan. That Daniel walked through all my finances and gave me great ideas and recommendations. Then for him to say that I probably don't need him 100% of the time shows that he tries to understand his clients first rather than try to just take money from them. Greatly impressed and I will definitely be coming to him for advice and when my life changes where I would need his full services, will be coming to him again.
