We had a rather decadent kids lunch after a game of outdoor laser skirmish a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon, by ordering a few pizza's from Jimmies. Mainly because they were the only pizza place in the hills we discovered, and had we known we would've packed our own lunch. All we really wanted was a Pizza Hut but there are none in the hills...so here's a big tip for those of you who are cashed up investors...open a franchise and give Jimmies a run for their money. I will be a customer but please do a good job and no slap dash stuff. P.S please respond to my review and let me know when you do ok!! Because boy was it expensive for a wood oven pizza and feeding over 10 hungry kids and a few adults, it's enough to get a bank loan. We didn't find the pizza all that fantastic, I mean kids will eat almost anything but to the discerning adult it wasn't anything to write home about, hence I'm writing here about the negatives. So yes we had takeaway and didn't eat in, it was too toffee for a bunch of ragamuffin kids and weekend scruffy parents to go in, so yeah it's a 'meh, I've experienced better' rating. read more

A Consistent Winner of, S.A Best Pizza Restaurant in Adelaide. Located on the Main St, Crafers, Adelaide Hills, just before the Crafers Hotel. Jimmies would have to have one of the best seafood pizza's that we have visited to review. On arrival you are seated in a warm comfortable dining area. The menu gives you a number of good dining alternatives. From at least a dozen Wood fired oven Pizza's, a farm table option, to a children's menu. Three of us chose the starters, from the menu, followed by their standout Seafood Pizza, topped with oysters in the shell, loaded with prawns. Their Pizza's would have to be the tastiest, most delightful, thin crusted, perfectly prepared, we have tasted, which keeps us frequently returning. We finished with home made ice cream loaded with nuts and topped with toffee, mouth watering. Can well understand this restaurant being awarded winner 2013 & 2015 & possible 2018, for best pizza restaurant. We appreciated the BYO option, there is a corkage fee, but that is quite understandable. Outside you will find a large private purpose built alfresco area, Well worth a return visit in the summer. The service could not be faulted, understandably this is a very busy popular restaurant in the Adelaide Hills. Reservations recommended. read more

Bucking the trend a little here with a (only slightly) less than perfect rating, I know, but please hear me out.... Jimmies serves up an excellent pizza - that is no lie and the options are second to none with some delicious flavour combinations on the menu. Think a seafood pizza topped with oysters in the shell, an amazing Turkish lamb with a zesty lemon yoghurt on top, a tasty Moroccan Chicken featuring roasted eggplant - a real highlight and the delicious pumpkin and zaatar pizza, really impressive considering that vego pizzas don't normally do it for me! I was lucky enough to try all those options - plus one from the specials board that featured braised lamb and chunks of potato - it was pretty damn good too! While we were there we also ordered some chips that came with a delicious lime aioli and and a selection of dips and olives - hommos and baba ghannouj which weren't overly flavoursome but nice, none the less. Now it all sounds great thus far but there are some small criticisms. I totally get that you pay for quality and I can't dispute the prices of the pizzas- they were actually a really cost effective option when eating as a group, it worked out to around $12 each and we all had more than enough to eat! The price of the dip platter at around $15 however was a little steep - considering it was a small amount of dip, four pieces of bread and a couple of olives - a bit disappointing.... The other criticism would be the fact that our group booking was split over two tables meaning that our group spent a lot of time standing and walking between the two, getting in the way of staff (although they were very nice about this!) There were pizzas that I'd love to go back and try so I guess we'll be making the trek up the freeway again soon! read more

Jimmies used to be great, but I've had too many misses and not enough hit there in the last 6-12 months. As a local of Crafers within walking distance, it's disappointing. This is for take away pizza only though, so maybe their other dishes are better. We have been making the trip to Mt Barker for pizza for at least 3 months now or Stirling hotels pizza bar. read more

ZOMG. Om nom nom nom. We've been eating here for a few years now and can't fault it. We've dined in or taken away at least 3 times a month and never had a problem. The pizzas are thin base and crispy with just the right amount of topping. The base is EVO which takes away the sweetness often associated with tomato or BBQ sauce base pizzas. The unfortunate part is: almost every time I pick a pizza up, I drop a magazine, accidentally throw the pen at the staff or knock something over. Considering I'm not normally a clumsy person, I can only blame the excitement of knowing I'm about to devour one of their pizzas. read more

People who live in my area tend to go on about Jimmies, and so one day, I decided to branch out of Aldgate and check in to Crafers. It's ok, it's not mind blowing though, I don't think that a pizza is gourmet just because someone decided to put avocado on it either, in fact I think that just makes a pizza horrible. I found the Moroccan Chicken to be a little dry, but then I have noticed that just about every pizza place has it's off days. You can eat in, I'm not one to dine out for pizza, pizza is usually my "i can't be bothered cooking and I can't be bothered going to a restaurant" option, if you have kids though of course it's a cheaper fun way to dine out as a family, they might think the pizza is a little weird for their developing tastes though. read more

Um hello - yes... I've had Jimmies takeaway - is this no longer an option? I agree that these pizzas are some of the best - Morroccan Chicken and garlic prawn are staples for me. Gourmet is the word, but I love a little variety and Jimmies has always had something a little different and adventurous for me. Like a seafood pizza, with oysters in their shells on it - I am undecided as yet but have met more than a few fans. Today we were at the famous Jimmies restaurant in Crafers. It really is in a gorgeous spot in the Adelaide hills but good luck trying to get parking there! It was a sunny but frosty day in Adelaide but the restaurant was deliciously warm as we walked in. It was quite full and I was trying to get a sneak peak at other diners plates as we were led to our table. We were seated by a window which gave us a nice view It was nice to sit there sipping some wine and any chill we may have felt soon was gone. I noticed they had decorative birdcages in just about any corner and in fact also had a feature wall with bird wall paper on it. I would have liked to have known if there was any connection to that and the name because there didn't seem to be any. Because we were seated in a room around the corner with only a few other tables, it seemed like we were pushed out of the way however I couldn't see any other way they could have sat us in that place. Still, the view was nice... It just felt like the room was not as special as the menu sounded - if that makes sense... So onto the food! I chose one of the specials - Blue Swimmer Crabs Linguine with tomato sugo, cherry tomato, baby spinach, basil, garlic and chili. Hubby chose a Lamb Calzone We also ordered some fries to share while we relaxed with our drinks. I believe Jimmies is primarily a pizza place because there were a lot of pizza's on the menu and in fact, looking around at the two large tables next to us, they all had pizzas. The pizza's were served on wooden boards. I'm not a fan of wooden boards as I can just imagine all those little germs growing between the cracks and waiting to attach to any food I might eat. The pizzas we saw were very thin crust so if you like that kind, you'd be happy here. I prefer a thicker, airy crust myself. The fries looked pretty good when they came! I mean, fries are fries right? But these were presented nicely and they looked really fresh. That paper they're in is made to look like a front page of a newspaper and was titled "Food Review" or something like that, with cute little articles about food. Those sauces the fries came with were amazing!!! I can't remember how they were described on the menu but the tomato based one seemed to have a Mexican taste to it and the other seemed like a mayonnaise with garlic aioli and perhaps some other seasoning in it. That one was my favourite! We did have to wait a little while for our mains though. The server came up at one point to tell us they weren't far away now but it would have been nice if she'd offered us another drink for our patience or something like that. )I couldn't help but be disappointed with the size of mine when it came. It just looked like a little heap on a big plate. The taste however, was something else. Every ingredient in there was fresh and bursting with flavour. The sugo was delicious. Although I couldn't see a lot of crab, the taste was strong throughout. Unfortunately I also got a bit of shell in my dish which really spoiled it for me. I'm normally weirded out by seafood but really wanted to step out of my comfort zone by ordering this dish and that shell didn't do much for my bravery! However up until that point I had really been enjoying it. Hubby was really looking forward to his calzone as it had been a while since he had one. Yes, it was served on a wooden board. You can't see it in the picture but there was also a large crack on it - that's where the germs live - at least, that how I saw it. To make things worse, an ant came up out of somewhere, crawling along the edge of the board. Those are the type of things you have to put out of your mind when you're hungry. As for the taste... the filling was delicious! The sugo was divine! the pastry? Well that was uncooked. As soon as I saw it I could tell but I tasted some also and it just tasted like completely raw dough. Now THAT was disappointing for a place that is supposed to be serving quality food. They had made us wait for that food and honestly I would have waited longer, that would have been ok, rather than have food that is not cooked properly. Although it sounds like I'm having a big whinge, there were lots of things I liked about Jimmies. I think the chef is on track, he, or whoever is preparing the food, just needs to pay a little more attention to detail. The quality of the ingredients and food is undeniable but shell in your food and raw dough is unacceptable. I hope this doesn't put you off going there though and I'd be inclined to revisit in twelve months or so to see if anything has changed read more

Jimmies Restaurant was a lovely place to go for dinner with lovely cuisine that would amaze the taste buds. I found that the Pizza that I had ordered that night a lovely pizza (Morrocan​ CHicken) which I found bewildering with a hint of charred flavor which many people enjoyed including me personally. The team that attended that night were pleasant and polite people making you feel welcome to the establishment. overall the night was a success we had an astounding night with my Family.​ read more

I've never met Jimmy, nor do I have any idea if he actually exists, but I will name my first born son after him because his pizza is of life changing capacity. The pizza's made in traditional wood ovens, so it has that earthy, authentic quality when it comes to chowing down. Yet, the recipes themselves are refreshingly new and interesting. Gourmet's the word. My favourite's the seafood pizza. Nom, nom, nom. Prices are totally reasonable for what you're getting here, and the staff are equally accommodating and kind. If you bring your kids along, expect colouring books and pencils to come out for their amusement. The setting of this place is great too. Even though Jimmies is just off the freeway, the noise of roadtrains rolling by is unspottable in their pristine garden dining. If only Jimmies did takeaway! read more

Booked 3 for dinner for 7.30pm Arrived on time. Staff ignored us at the door for over 10minutes, as smokers came in and out. Finally greeted by a waiter, who informed us another waiter will see to us. Another 5 minutes, to be told our table will be ready in a few minutes. I mentioned we'd booked ages ago. Another 10 minutes of discussion by staff behind the counter, and the decision was to put us 3 on the massive 8 seat table by the takeaway waiting area right next to the takeaway gelati fridge. Over a half hour waiting for our 'booked' table did us in, so I asked for the manager to explain we're not staying. He (distractedly) tried to convince me he'd 'really look after us personally' if we stayed , but the thrill-was-gone. Once again a visit to Jimmies' was rewarded with full tummies and warm smiles all round. 8 sleek feeders satisfied with hummus and eggplant dips, wood fired flat bread, sea food pizza, pumpkin and zatar pizza, walnut and rocket and yummy gooey stuff pizza, chips, salty peppery squid and a very fine margarita. Finishing with very good coffee and some adventurous dessert choices. My companion had a very tasty dessert except for some saffron ice cream that tasted of chlorine. The most surprising dessert was the smear of salty sesame seed molasses between a very good sorbet and a smooth tasty pana cotta. Interesting. Thought provoking. Ginger pudding was the hit on the day but that molasses leaves a lingering question and I think I will have to try it again next time. We all enjoyed the outside under the big plains trees and our delightful host Kaitlin, worked skilfully around the obstacles of inattentive customers, food allergies, changed orders, added too orders and the distance we parked our selves from the kitchen.
