She was upset, but I remembered seeing this place on Yelp and suggested I try to bring it over for repair. I brought it in and Joe let me know "not to expect too much," but that I wouldn't have to pay anything unless he fixed it. He also said to give him about a week. I call him a week later and like magic..the boot is all fixed and it only cost $10! He has a friendly attitude and really provides a great affordable service. He'll do it -- and for a reasonable price. I recently received a beautiful pair of sandals as a gift and they were not staying on my feet properly. I am actually very sad that I didn't have the same awesome experience that everyone else seems to have here. Maybe I set my expectations too high. I came to Jimmie's to get 2 pairs of boots fixed. On one pair the sole needed to be glued and on the second pair one some scuff marks needed to be fixed and "traction" needed to be added to the soles, so I guess re-soled. It took 3+ weeks to get this done. I literally went every Saturday for 3 weeks in a row to see if my shoes were done since Jimmie said that it should only take 7-10 days. $33 and 3+ weeks later I have boots with good soles and scuff marks. I have this favorite pair of shoes that I wore, to death. I took it into Jimmies shoe repair on hertel, hoping he'll be able to help me revive it. He took one look at it, and said the shoe couldn't be repaired and proceeded to SHOW ME the reasons why. He also explained that years ago, his father would take the whole sole off and replace it but it is not worth it today because that will probably cost more than the shoe itself (and unfortunately it will still not last). While I love my shoes, I truly appreciated his honesty. More often than not, I come across businesses that put themselves above their customers. My first impression is that this is a TRUSTWORTHY business. Plus, it seems they've been in this business for years so they are experts in repairing shoes. While I did not get my shoes repaired here today, I would definitely recommend bringing your shoes here, if you don't want to get ripped off. (Sadly from the last funeral.) They were fairly new boots and I just wanted them looking spiffy. Jimmy took one look at the boots and told me that I could clean them myself. Stopped in here today hoping to gain some insight on how to revive a couple pairs nice shoes that have suffered from 3 winters and their salt. I was kindly greeted by "The Shoe Doctor". After stating that I was interested in saving some money by treating the shoes myself, the doctor graciously gave me 10 minutes of his time to explain step-by-step how to accomplish the task. I left the shop with two tins of polish in the appropriate color and a new found confidence to bring my investment of footwear back from the grave. The best part of the dealing was when I asked if I could pay with plastic to which he replied, "I only take cash". I really wanted this review to go to the shoe store at Walden Galleria that sold me the cutest pair of Dansko soft leather Mary Jane's for more than 50% off. But after wearing them for less than a week and realizing how tight the stitching was on one shoe (causing the skin to tear above my big toe), I had to face facts: I got got. After unlodging my foot from one of the Mary Jane's to show someone how it was literally cutting into my skin, I was immediately referred to Jimmie's Shoe Repair. When I stopped by to show the owner my shoes, he knew exactly what to do, gave me a three-day turnaround time, and quoted an incredibly low price. I had to come back x3 since my shoes weren't ready... despite his reassuring me he was going to work on my shoes right now (but he forgot). Each time, I was very polite, but on the 4th and last visit, I decided to wait there until he finished the work as I was done with this place. Also, he used black materials for my tan shoes/wood heels. I mean, I didn't specifically ask him to color match, but my original heels were brown, and at other places I've used, that was just done automatically. I didn't realize that the store does not take credit card, and I seldom carry much cash. The owner gave me my shoes and just told me to come back and pay him later. It was so kind of him to trust a total stranger to come back with the $ that was owed to him. I of course made it a priority to go to an ATM and went right back to pay him.
