I received quality repairs and fast service. They seem to have good knowledge of how to fix my issues at a reasonable price.

I have been there a couple times, once for a pair of expensive boots & another time to repair the strap on my leather purse.

Unless you have an endless supply of shoes/boots, I'd recommend choosing a place that can at least do the required repair work in a resonable amount of time. Nice people, but they need to improve punctuality of product turnaround.

I have a few pairs of Louboutins, and being in Buffalo, that means no one else is able to "vibram"…read morethe bottom (putting on rubber sole bottoms to prevent slipping) and still retain the special red color. I was told by a friend that Transitown did them and has the red color paint to match the Louboutin red bottoms so that they look nice. I've brought 3 pairs there so far and they have done a pretty good job. My problem with this place is that they seem to always jack up the prices when it's a pair of expensive shoes. I know they jack up the prices for Louboutins, because they require a special color etc., that's fine. But when I have brought other shoes there to get the rubber bottoms put on - I would get one price over the phone (because i intentionally do not say what brand they are, i simply describe them as black leather flats, or purple leather wedges etc). The first time I questioned it, they explained it away that since they were louboutins, they cost more because of the special paint etc. OK... fine. The second time I questioned it, they said that whoever took in my order misquoted me, hmmm ok. Well, last week I took 3 pairs of shoes there (a pair of Chanel flats, a pair of Louis Vuitton pumps, and a pair of Ferragamo wedges). I called ahead to get a quote, and was quoted $30/pair for the rubber bottoms (black and nude, no special colors), with $10 for waterproofing. So I figure, $90 for the vibram/rubber bottoms, and $20 for waterproofing since only 2 pairs needed waterproofing. So it should have been $110 total. But nope, when I showed up today I was charged $130. I just paid without questioning anything and left. 3 strikes and they're OUT. I would rather ship my shoes somewhere else and know the costs up front.

He asked if I could wait two weeks as he wasn't certain he had the correct materials. Turns out he pulled off both pairs in two weeks and the service requested was completed with a high degree of quality. The value of having it done local is much better than shipping the boots back to the manufacture for warranty repair as well. I wear my boots everyday and walk a lot so it was important to me that the service requested was done correctly and quickly. He was able to accomplish the job on both.

BUYING NEW SHOES IS FOR SUCKERS…read more Why on Earth would anyone throw out a pair of old shoes because the soles had worn when the Village Cobbler can fix them for you for dirt cheap, and possibly even improve them? I brought in a pair of Merrill hiking boots I use for work. I love these boots. They're comfortable, lightweight and have a Gore-Tex liner in them. I have had them for years, and the soles where run down so thin that everywhere I walked you'd swear I was walking on banana peels. Village Cobbler was able to removed the stock soles and installed for me -- get this -- rocket power boot soles that allow me to fly around like Iron Man. Ok, they don't sell rocket powered boot soles, unfortunately, but I did get Vibram soles installed for $50. Not a bad deal, right? More importantly, they look and feel great. I was so impressed with the work that I immediately dropped off another pair of boots for another re-sole job. I plan to drop off a third when there finished as well. So, for now I will scratch the rocket boots and stick with the Vibrams.... At least until my FAA license for rocket boots gets approved, and I can afford to pay off the loan on my coffin.

For example: in London alone in the early 70s, I walked 10miles to see the Tower Bridge, then walked back to a rented room. In Mallorca, I took the tren to Puerto de Soller, saw a mountain, then climbed it and snapped a pix, then discovered, oh, there's a road! I've been wearing Keen boots for more years than I can remember. So recently when the lug that holds the shoelace cracked in half, I looked high and low online for a shoe shop that could fix my boot. Finding this little shop wasn't too much of a problem, and after giving him the shoe, he looked at it, then simply asked when I wanted it done. If you want it fixed tomorrow, then it will be done tomorrow. WoW!! I was impressed! I'll be picking it up in a few days. Will update when it's picked up in a few days! UPDATE: Perfect work done and very quick! I told him when I dropped it off that I'll pick it up over the weekend, about four days later. He said okay. Actually I think I went during a chore to pick it up on Wednesday; not only was it ready, it looked as good as new! Impressed and happy were the emotion felt upon seeing the shoe!!
