Turnaround time is MONTHS, not weeks or days. 3 months later and I'm STILL waiting for a seemingly simple heel and/or sole repair job. Unless you have an endless supply of shoes/boots, I'd recommend choosing a place that can at least do the required repair work in a resonable amount of time. I have a few pairs of Louboutins, and being in Buffalo, that means no one else is able to "vibram" the bottom (putting on rubber sole bottoms to prevent slipping) and still retain the special red color. I was told by a friend that Transitown did them and has the red color paint to match the Louboutin red bottoms so that they look nice. I've brought 3 pairs there so far and they have done a pretty good job. My problem with this place is that they seem to always jack up the prices when it's a pair of expensive shoes. I know they jack up the prices for Louboutins, because they require a special color etc., that's fine. But when I have brought other shoes there to get the rubber bottoms put on - I would get one price over the phone (because i intentionally do not say what brand they are, i simply describe them as black leather flats, or purple leather wedges etc). The first time I questioned it, they explained it away that since they were louboutins, they cost more because of the special paint etc. OK... fine. The second time I questioned it, they said that whoever took in my order misquoted me, hmmm ok. Well, last week I took 3 pairs of shoes there (a pair of Chanel flats, a pair of Louis Vuitton pumps, and a pair of Ferragamo wedges). I called ahead to get a quote, and was quoted $30/pair for the rubber bottoms (black and nude, no special colors), with $10 for waterproofing. So I figure, $90 for the vibram/rubber bottoms, and $20 for waterproofing since only 2 pairs needed waterproofing. So it should have been $110 total. But nope, when I showed up today I was charged $130. I just paid without questioning anything and left. 3 strikes and they're OUT. I would rather ship my shoes somewhere else and know the costs up front. read more

Nice small local business. They have met all my needs fixing my shoes and don't seem to be expensive. Their pricing seems reasonable enough. I normally get new stoppers on the bottom of my heels and they cost $15 for the pair. They also have a shop dog that is adorable! She is a golden retriever and is so Nice! read more

I have known these folks for years. They used to fix stuff for me when I worked at Eastern Hills many years ago. I recently came "home" to the area and I was pleased to find 1) them open 2) still in business 3) Still owned by the same family. I took a pair of my Bostonian dress shoes in for repair. I admit they were in bad shape, I didn't expect to see what I saw when I picked them up on Saturday morning. They looked like they just came out of the box. So, after taking my shoes there for quite some time and at a significant expense, I was generally pleased. We always support small local business. Unfortunately, we will now be taking our business elsewhere. My wife was charged $15.00 for a simple screw for her purse. When she was surprised and questioned the price, she was told "You Could Go Somewhere Else". We will now be taking our shoes "Somewhere Else". The ridiculous charge came with the equally ridiculous explanation that "Well, I had to wait on you twice" - once when she brought the purse in and once when she paid. Very disappointing. Gouging losses business in the long run! Almost as much as rudeness... completely uncalled for. read more

The same little dog of mine that likes to chew through leashes, also likes to chew through shoes. Despite my best attempts to keep my shoes out of her reach, sometimes my shoes suffer a casualty. I had a brand new pair of Toms that were left on the floor and lil' pup chewed right through the insoles leaving 2 gaping holes where the arch supports once were. I thought they were toast and was ready to toss 'em in the trash while mourning the $55 I had just spent on them. Then someone suggested I see if a shoe repair place could replace the insoles. Enter Transitown Shoe Repair Service... True, their hours don't pair well with the standard full time 9-5 work schedule but they are open until noon on Saturdays. Within no time, they had put new insoles in my beloved Toms and I could wear my precious shoes again! YAHOOOOO! They did a good job and it only cost $15. I was so grateful that my shoes were saved from the trash. Same doggy also had an incident with a leather sandal. Chewed through a strap. They matched the color of the leather as best they could and repaired my sandal! Another pair saved from the landfill!! If you have shoes that you're about to chuck because they've been chewed through or maybe the soles have been run down, or some other issue, bring 'em to the shoe repair place first. You might be pleasantly surprised at what they're able to fix! read more

I've had many shoe and purse repairs done at this shop and always been very happy with the work and the people there. If you check the Google reviews of this shop, you'll see that most people are happy with it until something goes wrong and then the experience completely changes. I had new soles and heels put on a pair of leather shoes. After wearing them on vacation for one full day walking in Paris, I noticed that I was slipping on the sidewalk because the nails that held the new heels on had worn through in just one day of walking and the upper had separated from the sole (it came unglued) in about a 1/2" section on the side. Luckily I was able to find a cobbler in Paris to replace the heels, and then I took the shoes back in to get the small sole repair redone when I got home. I told them about what happened with the heels but didn't ask for my money back or anything. When I picked the shoes up, there was gunky black glue the whole length of the side of the top portion of the shoe (about 3 or 4" long) going up onto the leather upper of the shoe. They looked terribly sloppy when the original resole looked perfect. I said that I didn't like the way the sloppy glue looked so they took it in the back and when they brought it out again, it looked exactly the same. Then a guy came out - Don, I think - and made fun of me for not accepting the way it was. He said he would fix it but as I turned to leave, he said something like, "this will go on and on - you'll never be happy after what happened to you in Italy." What?? Wrong location - and totally unnecessary to make any kind of comment. It ruined my day and I won't be back. I went back to pick up the shoes and the glue was better along the sole but still up onto the leather. read more

Even though I read the bad reviews I was going to take my uggs in to have the button sewn back on. I was just about to leave and I hear the woman at the counter staple the ticket to my boot. I turned around and ask if she just did that and she started barking at me. Making statements like you think that staple is putting more damage in the boot. You made more damage with the ripped button. I asked for my boot back and told the woman, "I am paying for a service; I don't need to be barked at". read more

Always professional no job seems too big or too small the value of service never goes in appreciated . I always seem to find shoes I love and just a touch of stretch in the toe box makes them even more comfortable! Took a hockey skate in to be evaluated Evans Shoe Repair. It was missing some stitching and the toe was moving. The worker said it could not be repaired. He didn't recommend any other shops. I then took it in to Transitown Shoe Repair. They fixed it in a few hours for $20. New skates would have cost me at least $300. I highly recommend this store for hockey skate repairs! read more

We took a leather jacket to have a zipper replaced, 3 pockets replaced which they claimed they could do and talked me into having the coat reconditioned as well. 3 weeks later I still had heard nothing and called them to find out the jacket wasn't ready. One hour later they called back saying the jacket was ready. When we arrived the zipper was merely re-tabbed, 2 of the torn pockets only stitched not replaced as promised and the jacket was never sent out for reconditioning. When confronted about the discrepancy the owner proceeded to shout at me and denied the original promised When I replied "I could have done this my self" he shouted some more. Fort he ordeal I was charged $35. Rudest service I have ever encountered, payed with a credit card, If any unwarranted charges are on found I will call a lawyer. read more

My husband and I have gone to the Transitowne Shoe Repair for a very long time. We always receive fast, quality work. The owner and staff are also very accommodating with our hectic schedules. We have had shoes and boots repaired and re-soled. They have shined and reconditioned many items for us. I have had purses repaired and new zippers put in. They have also repaired our leather jackets and replaced the zipper once or twice. Everything always look like new. We highly recommend them to all our friends. We will never go anywhere else!
