Today I walked from my office to Jimmy John's! My go to choice today was the Turkey Tom. This sandwich, features turkey, tomatoes, lettuce, but you can add a bunch of items from the freebie menu. So to customize my sandwich, I chose cherry, peppers, cucumbers, pickles, and cheese! I chose to make it a combo which peak which features a drink and chips. The restaurant was very clean and had other coworkers stopping in to get a bite. The service was fantastic, and the gentleman told me about the rewards club, which I was not aware of! My sandwich was so fresh and delicious! I enjoyed my sandwich when I got to the office outside with a coworker and she ordered the Italian which she stated was also very delicious! read more

I forgot to bring my lunch to work on a Monday and was looking for something really quick and easy. Jimmy John's is quick and easy because you can order your food online and just run in and pick it up. I had never been to this downtown location and I was concerned about parking once I got there but decided to give it a go. I ended up parking at the top of the block 1/2 in a space and 1/2 in front of a hydrant. I dashed in and thankfully once I spotted the shelf the order was there and ready. I grabbed in and dashed back to the car. If I had to be here any length of time though this wouldn't have worked and there would have been nowhere to park on the whole block even for just 2 minutes. That said my order, a veggie sandwich add bacon came out correct even with lots of customizing. My pickle was delicious and perfectly quartered as requested. I wish I would of read the reviews before coming here...i read some after the fact with them having high prices and reducing their portions. anyways, I was just stopping in for a quick bite for my little nephew. he was starving, we were downtown and it seemed like every 'fast food' like place was already closed. jimmy johns was still open (didn't know they closed at 8, went in at 7:45). i ordered the turkey sandwich and i was floored on what they put on the sandwich...it was just turkey, no lettuce, mayo, nothing but just 3 slices of thin turkey with the bread for 5$. I could of went to culinara and got something quick for that amount. i gave it 2 stars because the store was super clean inside. oh and that smell that everyone complains about...it's the cleaning supplies they use. unfortunately, it's something they can't control or they could...but at least you know it's cleaned inside. read more

It's my favorite sandwich maker on earth.. yes a high claim but if you've been waiting for years to come to this side of the country for a #4- turkey tom and a big juicy n crunchy pickle then you know what I'm talking about. I was in town right after Xmas for the famous Urbana09, and ordered my long awaited sandwich to go. The moment I've been waiting for is up on me as I walk in the cold back to the exhibit hall I was working, I unwrap the sandwich for that incredible dreamy first bite but... YIKES.. the sandwich was not a #4... it was something else... with stuff in it (onions) that would be a disgrace for exhibitors as they talk to students for hours...sigh. Such a sad lead-down. Jimmy Johns as a business concept is awesome. Delicious, simple food fast. You won't find any of that with this location. I ordered my simple, off-the-menu sandwich with one alteration, no tomatoes, at 1:45pm and didn't even see the delivery guy until an HOUR later. This might be understandable if I lived far away or somewhere that was hard to get to, but I live literally 4 blocks down the street near Bailey's Range. I could have gone into Bailey's and eaten an entire delicious meal with good service in the time it took them to bring me my food. I actually recommend that as an option instead. When I called the store after 30+ minutes of waiting for "freaky fast" delivery, the woman who answered the phone blatantly LIED to me, and stated that "we've been calling you" to let me know that the driver was somehow nearby? I had been carrying my phone with me since I ordered to make sure I'd hear it, and I hadn't received a SINGLE phone call since I placed my order; I mentioned this to her, and she played it off saying that my sandwich was "out for delivery" and I would have it soon. It took another 20+ minutes before I saw the delivery guy, whom I waited for in our lobby. When I finally did get my food, the guy apologized for the delay, but offered nothing else. There was no receipt attached to the bag, and it looked like it had been dropped on the ground and stepped on. To top everything off, they got my order wrong, and the toppings on the sandwich weren't right. Sure, they didn't put any tomatoes on there, like I asked, but it was also missing onions, oregano, and Italian vinaigrette. So I'm left with a skimpy portion of meat and cheese, dressed with limp, sad, lettuce. This location is obviously VERY understaffed, if it takes them more than an hour to delivery a sandwich down the street, and it is clear that the staff they do have are poorly trained, especially to the point where they condone lying to customers about the status of their delivery order. Save your money and go to one of the other sandwich places nearby, or what a few blocks over to Sauce on the Side, or even any of the restaurants on Wash Ave. This place isn't worth your time or your frustration. read more

I've grabbed subs here a ton of times, but finally felt inspired to write a review. And yes, that means I finally have had a couple of Jimmy John's experiences that ticked me off. It's not really fair -- what about the one guy who all but treated me like a long lost brother every time I ordered? But really, I can't help myself. That "Hi, welcome to Jimmy John's" was nowhere to be found (honestly, I've never gotten that). But, I have gotten "hi", but the last time I went in, I didn't even get that -- more like "what the fuck do you want?" scowl. To top it off, the sandwiches just weren't as well made as their normally are. Add to that tonight's experience. In a fit of dual household sickness and a sliver of laziness, we placed a delivery order. It took over an hour (probably closer to 75 minutes) for it to show up. Sure, the delivery guy said that they were slammed, but at the same time, when you've seen hundreds of those stupid Jimmy John's commercials where they act like they show up seconds later, 75 minutes is just too long, regardless of the number of orders. So I'll take my prior 5 star experiences and these recent 1 star experiences and give them 3 stars. I'm sure we'll get subs from them plenty of times, but I'm never getting delivery again. read more

I've normally had good experiences at Jimmy John's but this location had shockingly poor customer service. Typically, Jimmy John's does have "freaky fast" deliver but this location took close to an hour to deliver a sandwich a few blocks away. When he arrived, he realized he forgot to bring the soda that was ordered. He said he would be right back with it and offered another bag of chips or something for the inconvenience. I was surprised, and said how about a cookie, as I had already ordered a bag of chips. He said sure thing and that he would be right back. He returned about 30 minutes later (somehow it takes that long to grab a soda from a few blocks away) with the soda and another bag of chips saying that he was told the cookie was too expensive to give away for free. The cost of a bag of chips is $1.29 The cost of a cookie is $1.50 Normally something like this wouldn't bother me, and I wasn't even going to eat the cookie, I was going to give it to a coworker, but the excuse they gave just really rubbed me the wrong way. I work at a hotel where I refer several people to nearby places to eat every day. I can say that I will never refer a customer to this Jimmy John's location due to their lack of common sense and poor service. I should have read the other comments on here as I see poor service is a trend at this location. read more

Welcome to Jimmy John's! Do you really have to say it every time I walk in? I know they don't want to say it and it only makes me feel weird when they say it. Jimmy John's, mmm, so fast, so good (I've seen some freaky stuff in my life, so I won't consider this freaky). This place is so much better than Subway or Quizno's and the workers are so much friendlier. Why do they have so many people working (usually 7+)? Shouldn't it be a requirement to be able to make change if you are going to handle money? Not at the Jimmy John's Affton location. I purchased a chicken wrap for $10.04. I gave the cashier (and I use that term loosely) a $20 bill. She told me they were out of one-dollar bills, and she would have to give me $9 in quarters for change. I handed her another dollar and said just give me a ten and 96 cents change. 21-10.04=10.96. She couldn't speak English or do math, so she called over her masked manager who couldn't add or subtract either and told me by giving me a dollar it wouldn't help (see math). I cancelled the order and just said give me my $21 dollars back. That's when she accused me of trying to pull a money switch, called me names and didn't give me all my money back. I tried to explain again, and she got aggressive and belligerent, so I left. I filed a complaint at JJ corporate with no response, so I let the MO AG know about it. Took over an hour to make a delivery that was 4 blocks away. I called 4 times, every 15 minutes and each time was told it had left the store. I could have walked over there and picked it up if they would have just been honest. During the last time I called, I asked for the person's name and she just hung up on me.Just like the other yelps, this store does not care about the customers. OMG, I SOOOO miss this place!!! I live back in SoCal now but when I lived in St. Louis, I would make it a point to leave my class at UMSL about 20 minutes early to get the Metrolink to Eighth and Pine only to run down Pine to get to this Jimmy John's, order my Italian Nightclub with banana peppers and some Jalapeno chips and my medium soda, wolf it down, and run to work. My first and only experience here was terrible. Called in my order.. first they didn't deliver to my location ( i live 3 blocks away). Guy on the phone said they don't carry spicy mustard anymore. When I arrive suprise! they have spicy mustard. I paid for peppers on my sandwich, but luckily i asked because they were not on there. Had to get them on the side. Guy who took my order over phone, rang me up and was very rude and unattentive. Did not offer me a bag or give me my cup for my drink that i paid for. Another solid Chain restaurant downtown that knows the meaning of "I have 30 minutes for lunch". Seriously, go here if you are short on time. They get you in and out in under 5 minutes. The staff is great but the only problem I have is, the guys making the sandwiches usually ask me what I want before I get to the cashier so sometimes maybe I feel overly rushed. I know it is a busy lunch spot but I don't need to feel like I'm being forcefed my sandwich from the queue is all. They just raised their prices $1.10 per sub and cut their drivers pay in half. As you can see in the photo, they have significantly reduced their portions on the tuna sandwich. The only unique thing about this restaurant was the sprouts which they got rid of. Snarfs down the road offers a much superior and more delicious product for less. read more

This place has it down to a science when it comes to customer service. You will not wait longer than 8 min to get your sandwich, at noon during the busiest part of lunch, and with 5 people in front of you at the same time. Yep that is right. There is a lot of hustle and bustle but they know how to serve the customers. I cant comment on the type of sandwiches because they taste the same no matter which Jimmy J's you go to BUT they were not sloppy, lacking ingredients or rushed looking at the speed that they are made. I'm addicted to the #4 Turkey Tom. I have never walked into this location, but have had delivery dozens of times. The delivery guys are always super prompt and courteous. I've had moments where they've had my order to me in under 10 minutes of placing it online. The one time I experienced where they were running behind, the manager called me to update me and make sure I still was interested in waiting. That's great service! I only wish regular mustard was available on the sandwiches and not as a packet on the side, but that is the deal with all the locations apparently. read more
