I've FINALLY found a new auto mechanic whom I can trust to not take me for a ride; in the figurative sense, not the literal sense. Thankfully, I haven't had much reason to visit a mechanic in a few years but of course, these lucky streaks don't last forever; my 2006 Mazda was making some loud noise when I turned and I was told that it was a wheel bearing by a friend. Also, reaching speeds of 65 mph or greater, my car/steering wheel begins to shake and pull to the left... plus I figured with the mileage (87K) I probably needed a tune-up. Jimmy was great with calling me and keeping me up to date with everything he was going to do, before he was going to do it. After he assessed that it was, in fact, the passenger side wheel bearing that needed to be replaced, he quoted me full price with parts, labor and tax to make sure I was comfortable with it. He also told me he'd check to see if I truly needed a tune-up before doing one and that he'd let me know before he did any further work; it turns out that I didn't need a tune up and won't for at least another 20k miles or so. He was very transparent in the fact that yes, I did need an alignment but more importantly, I need 4 new tires so he suggested I not do the alignment and just get the new tires before the winter time which would take care of all of the issues I'm seeing with the pulling and shaking. Folks, you won't find honesty like this with a mechanic all that often, trust me... I've done the leg work. He was very friendly, quick and efficient. I will FOR SURE be bringing my car back to Jimmy for any future service needs I have. read more

Jimmy has been doing my work for 40 years since he was 14 years old doing oil changes for his cousin at his cousin shop. I still go to Jimmy after all these years. I stopped in for an inspection sticker. Great, fast, friendly service. No nonsense. In the past I have made the mistake (once) of going to Midas for inspection. I ended up needing $900 in repairs that they kindly offered to do. It ended up being a fuse and an exhaust repair that costed a lot less at another shop. I went to 3 shops for an estimate to have my brakes fixed. All were recommended by friends. Jimmy's Auto was $400 lower than one shop and the other shop tried telling me things were wrong with my car that were fine. I brought my cat to Jimmy a few days later, was done in 2 hours. I've found my auto body shop! I chose Jimmy's after reading their positive Yelp reviews and this business does not disappoint! I have a 2006 Honda Civic and my ignition broke. I took it to Jimmy's for an assessment and they ordered the part for me and quoted me a reasonable price for the job. After they installed the new part the locksmith that came to reprogram my keys realized the old part could be fixed. What I would've expected is for an auto body shop to leave the new part in and avoid the hassle. Instead Jimmy uninstalled the new part and replaced my fixed ignition, saving me $300! I am so grateful! This shop is easy to communicate with and they take the right approach even if it isn't the easiest for them. read more

I had my check engine light come on for a EVAP code and tightening my gas cap didn't fix the problem. Benny's didn't have the equipment to diagnose the issue so I took it to Jimmy's Charles St Auto based on positive comments from a reddit thread. I told them about the light and that I was going on a 1800mi road trip the following week so I asked if they could give the car a full check over. Friends told me I was crazy for saying that and that they would take advantage and suggest all sorts of expensive work. That was 100% not the case. They told me my gas cap seal was cracked and the check engine light was fixed with a $20 new gas cap. They said otherwise my car looked good and filled up my fluids for me. I was extremely pleased with the good service and the friendly staff. When I asked questions about the work they were doing, they gladly explained it to me in full detail. Their pricing was fair (way cheaper than I expected) and they did good work. My 03 corolla made the road trip with zero problems and is still running fine. I will definitely be going here with any future car issues. My only small beef with them is that they are not open on weekends or later than 5pm but it's worth juggling my work schedule around to go to a trustworthy mechanic. read more

I went to Midas on Mineral Spring to get an inspection sticker after realizing it was about to expire..They rejected my 2008 Honda CRV saying I needed rotors brakes and quoted me $804!!! with 6 ,month free financing of course...lol I decided to have Jimmy look at it on the recommendation of a relative .He agreed the brakes and rotors should be replaced but .He did the work for $525 and that included the sticker!! Saved me a bundle..He's honest and efficient an I highly recommend him! I know from now on hes my go to mechanic! read more
