I moved to the neighborhood a little over 3 years ago. I found Valley View by chance and haven't even thought about going anywhere else. I had been going to a place in Brooklyn, CT. They had been the in laws go to for decades. Fair cost, great work. But Frank and Valley View are hands down the best. They've treated my fiance and myself like family and have never once price gouged or done lackluster service. I've had all manner of work from transmission, brakes and rotors, to simple oil change, and every time it's always top notch without hurting my wallet. Finding them has been a literal blessing and I would recommend anyone that has the need, please do yourself a favor and trust your vehicle to Frank. You won't regret it. read more

I have gone to Valley View a few times for service on my car. This last time I went I had to get a new radiator. Got it fixed. A day or two later I saw antifreeze dripping. Brought it back and I was told it was a hose and that supposedly got fixed. My car was overheating yesterday. Temperature gauge jumping up and down. As a woman I'm putting my trust into someone who I was referred to by a coworker, have had work done before and been satisfied but with the new issues I'm starting to question. In a short amount of time I shouldn't have to keep going back and forth for the same issue. Nice guy but it's getting to be too much right now. read more

Valley View has worked on my (and other family members') cars for over 20 years. The main benefit is honesty and integrity--Frank will not do unnecessary work. The labor rates are very inexpensive and the quality of work is outstanding. The one drawback is it may take some time to get an appointment, which is the case because of Valley View's excellent track record of high quality, low-cost service. Highly recommend. It is VERY difficult to find an honest person to take a look at your car. Frank will be upfront with what needs to be fixed and what can wait. Prices are also fair. Yes, sometimes you have to call multiple times to get someone on the phone but that doesn't bother me because I know my car is in good hands. Other mechanics will rip you off and convince you into getting repairs that aren't even necessary. I started to experience a lot of problems with my 2007 Honda and was convinced I needed to get rid of it. Frank reassured me that was not the case. The turnaround time was quick as well! read more

Frank and his staff are a huge boon to us drivers of old American cars! I mention this great little shop whenever friends move to the neighborhood. More often than not, the work I have done costs less than the up front estimate and it's always done right. They'll offer you a ride home or to work whenever possible if you need to leave the vehicle for an extended period. And it's located adjacent to Shaw's Supermarket so you can even get your groceries while you get your oil changed. This mechanic shop is awesome. It's tiny, so you definitely feel like a person instead of a dollar sign. I went for a tune-up and was going to wait for my car, but the guy offered me a ride home! Totally saved my day. When they called me later to tell me my car was ready I said I had to find a ride to pick it up, and he was all, Oh, we can drop it off for you. Frigging customer service up the wazoo. To top it off, the guy that dropped off my car was pretty easy on the eyes! I've been going to Valley View for years and as I write this review, my 2001 Nissan Maxima sits at their shop being worked on as we speak. I've brought my current vehicle, and previously owned vehicles to Valley View for oil changes, tune-ups, brakes, headlight bulb change, clutch leaks, oil leaks and battery problems. He offers very fair prices and he's extremely honest; he won't fix anything if it doesn't need to be fixed just to get money out of you. Frank and his staff are friendly and reliable. They'll offer you a ride home if needed and you don't live far away. The only gripe I have, is that they do work a little slowly but I imagine this is because so many people utilize the tiny little shop because they are so fair and honest. It would also be nice to get a call when my car is ready instead of having to call them for a status. However; I DO understand that they're consistantly busy. I wrote about how I had been in search of a local mechanic, and was horribly failed by Jiffy Lube. Well this is the place I had been searching for. Valley View Services is absolutely fantastic! I called VVS after seeing a few great reviews on Yelp, and went in for an oil change first thing in the morning on a Friday. Unlike some of the other places I called around to, they didn't make me feel like I was an inconvenience to their schedule by making an appointment. When I got there, all of the bays were full, so the mechanic did my oil change right in the lot, jacking the car up and bringing out an oil pan. He explained everything along the way, not in a 'I'm dumbing this down because you are a girl' way, but instead telling me 'We're going to have to wait a few minutes because I had to call in for a new oil filter'. I was in and out in about 20 minutes for $30 (extra $$ due to a pricey filter...silly newer models of Corollas!). I am beyond pleased, and highly recommend VVS to anyone remotely in the area. read more

After I got my brakes done, today I had to buy new rotars and brake pads. It's less than a year and I have to pay another $300 at another car shop. I'm a bit torn with Valley View. The rotars were so worn down that I had to replace everything. I'm not sure if the mechanic saw that and didn't advise me or he was just lazy and wanted to finish the job. I still think it may be a good place but beware, ask the right questions about the car. read more

I brought my 2004 Jeep Cherokee Laredo in because of a check engine light..I had already replaced all 4 oxygen sensors. Bruce and Frank were personable, professional,accommodating and reasonably priced. They found and fixed the problem promptly. I highly recommend this service station. So my family insisted I give Frank at Valley View a try. Will never do business with these unprofessional people again. It took much longer to repair my car than neccessary. The owner Frank refused to call me back with any updates, and got mad when I showed up to check on my car after 2 days. Needless to say despite my family being clients for 20 yrs, I am taking my business elswhere where I am treated with respect. It is rare nowadays to deal with real people who don't hand you a clipboard and process you like you're waiting for treatment at the ER. Frank and Bruce are down-to-earth honest people, who do things the old-fashioned, honest way. They are friendly and sympathetic, know their business inside and out, and incredibly hard-working. They are a workingman's garage - they can do a repair that will last without doing "extra" work that isn't really required. They also charge a more-than-fair rate for their work. If you have a Lexus and always go to the dealer to change a bulb, this may not be the place for you. However, this is where my wife's and my Hondas (not new) go for work. Today, I had a catalytic converter heat shield dropping down to the road and banging around as it hit the ground. Frank did a little brazing and the car is as good as new. The charge for this service was about what I pay for a large Twins' pizza - enough said! read more
