First time going there, the food and service was very good. I definitely got my monies worth's, I will be back.

Really classy spot in the middle of Castle Hill...seriously, the mangu is the best I've tasted, so get that Dominican Breakfast! The portions are good for breakfast and the dinner is entrees are huge. I never leave finishing my meal, and always need a take out plate. I recommend the Pernil, and churrasco, if you want a really heavy meal. Not too sure about the bread wrapped in plastic (a little weird). Delivery is spotty at best but the experience is in the restaurant. My suggestion is they remove the tables at night and become a nice little lounge. The top level can be VIP and it could turn to be a nice spot in between some dingy bars. read more

I went for my brother in laws birthday. It was a group of 30 people. I helped set up the table with our party's decorations and sat down. The owner came up to me complaining saying that our table was "killing him".. i asked how? (We were only missing 5 more people out of the 30.. our reservation was for 2pm & it was only 2:08pm) he said "no one is here and I have people waiting" I asked him how if we are only missing 5 people and wHat time did he want us out by? He said that's not the point.. again, I asked what was his point? Did he want us out by 4pm? (We were 30 people. Two hours is less than enough time but I figured it's doable).. again, he said that's not the point and we were just "killing him" because he had people waiting. Don't know how that was even my tables problem because even if we were 2 people, we were only there for 15 minutes! My husband then interfered and told the owner to please walk away now because he didn't like how he was speaking to me. And he left. 3:45 comes, we are on dessert and he is just a standing at the end of the table with his arms crossed making us all very uncomfortable. We paid and we're getting ready to leave.. he comes up to my husband and apologized and bought him a drink. Im still standing there with NO apology. Buying my HUSBAND a drink did not make up for the way he treated me! I was highly disappointed in the service especially from an OWNER. Food was bland. Nothing to brag about. Parking was limited by they have a free parking lot a block away. Stopped by on Saturday evening around ten. The food was good and the drinks were good great. The environment was excellent there was a live band playing that wrapped about 20 min after our arrival and for the rest of the night it was top 50 . The crowd was cool age group was late 20s plus most were in the 30 to 40 range. Just my vibe. NO to small tight jean with the butt out , weed aroma and "my ni**** my ni****" every two sentences. read more

I have to agree with a lot of the previous reviews. The service is fine and the decor stands out on Castle Hill as maybe something more upscale - gentrifying the neighborhood perhaps but the food was very disappointing. The presentation of just the dinner rolls cracked me up: each roll was in an individual plastic bag inside the bread basket! My white sangria was good so I slurped that down and ordered a couple of apps: the macaroni which sounded gourmet (manchego cheese, bread crumbs etc) and some type of asian fried dumpling. The mac looked like velveeta and tasted worse: saltless! Ironically the dumplings had too much salt. It made me wonder about the table next to us: when I came in they had a gorgeous plate in front of them which got sent back a few minutes after my party settled in. This is still diner food at best. Would not bring anyone here with sophisticated taste. Better off heading to the Parkchester Applebees. read more

My Wife & I went to Jimmy's Grand Cafe on 4/26/2018 at 3:30 pm for a bite to eat. It Was Not Crowded. We sat for 25 minutes before I went to speak to Jimmy himself (I saw him there) about the lack of attention from the staff. The floor manager said he was no longer there & what's the problem (Very Unprofessional. How Bout How May I Help You Sir!) Anyway long story short...She did not seem to care about us not being served at all. The wait staff did not seem to care at all. So we left Jimmy's unserved & unpleased. So Jimmy's Grand Cafe was pretty good, but I was not overwhelmed. Firstly, I felt that the meal (which came out to over $120 for my boyfriend and I, including drinks) was quite overpriced for a place in Soundview! The first Jimmy's cafe was priced more like a diner. Although this place is super swanky, and the decorations are great, the location makes me weary of the price. Secondly, the food was good but the service sucked. I found myself searching for our waiter quite often, and at one point I had to ask another waiter to bring me a new fork and knife bc I had been waiting about 5 minutes and my server was nowhere to be found. Overall, I might return because of its close proximity to me but I'm not sure if I would give it a sparkling review to anyone else. read more

Love the atmosphere of the place. Wait time is 1-5 minutes very minimal. Service is speedy. One star off for the prices... The coconut shrimp is about 11$ for 4 pieces of shrimp and also the macaroni and cheese was terrible. Loved Jimmy's when it was on Bruckner. The new place is beautiful, the staff is good, drinks get a B+. I tried the meatloaf plate with mashed potatoes and was disappointed. Mashed potatoes and veggies were o.k. but the meatloaf was the downfall. No flavor or texture. Will go back though, can't say goodbye to one of my family's favorite places over one dish. read more

I am giving them a three star because their delivery services arent that great, I ordered a gyro and I believe a wrap or burger, i forgot which one and both came up to like almost $30. And it didnt even come with fries!! Yeah so I was upset, because I basically paid $30 for a basic a$$ gyro and wrap. smh. This place was terrible . Sat down for 15 mins and not one person approached us until I said something . Then the waiter didn't even come get our drinks it was the manager . I've always loved this place since they've opened they have amazing cheese cake! Waiters are always super nice and the place is usually packed but I've never had to wait for a table. There's flat screens all around and nice lights it's a super fun upbeat atmosphere if you're gonna go ask for John if he's there! He's awesome! read more

Wow! The Bronx needed a beautiful restaurant like this. The curb appeal is extremely inviting and once you step inside, you are blown away. The ambience is like no other restaurant in the Bronx. The menu has a variety of options that all sound delicious. I went with the empanadas to start and a Mexican dish as an entree. Both were flavorful and authentic. The hostesses and waitresses were all very hospitable and accommodating. Jimmy's will be my new "go to" place for dining! read more

So originally I was going to give this restaurant 2 stars, but the conclusion to my visit made it a 1/5 for me, terrible service, terrible food, good tasty alcoholic drinks with barely any alcohol mixed in, and inside looks beautiful. Looks are very deceiving, because the experience is the complete opposite when dining here. It was barely busy when my girlfriend and I had come in. I had the mac and cheese as an appetizer, it tasted like kraft fondu. We ordered lunch specials (during lunch) so you would think the food would be great? She ordered the meat loaf and it looked and tasted like school lunch mystery meat. I ordered the pastrami sandwich which tasted like greasy pan fried oscar mayer bologna. All of which came to an overpriced 75$. When we voiced that we didnt like our meals, the server switched them out for breakfast and a brownie desert which were on par, but still overpriced. Went here with my fiancée, service was nice food arrived quickly however, our orders were half assed.
