I'm very disappointed with this place. My family and friends have been there numerous times for dinner and had a few parties on the second level. So this really took me by surprise. I had placed an order of cheesecake for Thanksgiving. I paid over the phone with a credit card and until that point there were no problems. The next morning I called to cancel the order and that's where the problem started. First, I spoke to Joseph, I believe was the name. He said I had to talk to Abby because she took the order and she wasn't there that day. I called the next day at the time they said and Abby wasn't there so I had to call later. On day two second call I finally got in touch with Abby. I explained to her that I needed to cancel the order . Now she said that the person that can refund me was not there at the time and that when she came in they would process the refund and call me back. I didn't get a call back so I called again. Now the person that could do the refund was not coming in and nobody else there could do a refund. REALLY ??? Impossible that in such a place no one else can do a refund. I work at a place where we deal with peoples credit cards and if we have to do a refund and no manager is at the location at the very worst we can call any of them and we can do it over the phone and then all problems are avoided. I believe I got a huge run around and still have not received a refund or a phone call to process the refund with the only person that can do refunds. I'm sure that person has been back by now , it's been about 12 days. Beware, if you're paying with a credit card and there's an error make sure the ONLY person that can do refunds is there. read more

Went here once for a dinner for my boyfriend and another time for a birthday dinner for some friends. The food isn't exactly the best. It lacks a lot of flavor BUT the prices are very good. I am not a fan of the bread in their own little pouches it is extremely tacky to me considering the fact that the place looks pretty nice. The second time I went the valet crashed my friends car into the managers car while parking it. When we brought it to the attention of the manager she was very kind and understanding. I would have thought that she would have offered some type of compensation but she didn't. Nonetheless she was still very kind about it. However I went for dinner once with my boyfriend and the waitress messed up my order for starters and I noted I have two allergies to the dish I ordered so I asked her to have the two ingredients removed. I WILL NEVER GO TO OR RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN!!! A night of celebration was ruined by their vale, horrible service, and damage to my vehicle. I watched the vale driver slam my driver side door into another vehicle when I was ready to leave. He acted like nothing happened and didn't even apologize! I spoke with the manager of Jimmy's, who was unapologetic as well, and did nothing when I told him about the situation. When I told him what the valet driver had done (and the valet driver owned up to what he had done) and that I witnessed it and that he didn't even apologize all he said was "that is how he is, you need to contact his manager". ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! When the manager of valet arrived (20 min later) he proceeded to tell me that there was no way the damage on my vehicle could have been caused by him slamming my door into another vehicle. Abby & Wendy, event coordinators did an excellent job, they are easy going, reachable, and offer a great follow thru. Wendy was present during our event, checking in and making sure all was well. We chose the brunch menu, the food was plentiful and delicious, and the staff made sure it was refilled many times. Our guest raved about the food and how beautiful the room was set up. We had requested that the speakers be shut off during our party and the music that was playing downstairs did not interfere with our presentations and speeches. The location and valet parking was convenient too. We had a few choices in the Bronx for our Mom's celebration, and I am so happy I chose Jimmy's Grand Cafe! Job well done!! read more

The food wasn't bad its the service that was bad. Do not pay with your debit card in this place. I was there with a group. The waitress struggled to take orders... Then when the bill came it was a split check part was on the card the rest cash. The card was charged the full amount and the cash was kept. Then when I called I was given the run around to get the issue resolved and its almost a month later and the money has yet to be returned to me..... I was told it would take 10 business days to return my over $100... After 10 days the money still wasn't returned. This was after calling back 3 or 4 times and still never being able to speak to the proper manager... I was simply told it was a mistake and I should get the money back.... This place has amazing food. I went there a few weeks ago and it was amazing. However, when my mother tried to place an order for pick up, the women who answered was rude. The lady didnt understand her when she was placing order so my mother said to put someone who speaks spanish, the lady responded by saying "we live in new York ". Meanwhile this is a Spanish restaurant. Then they put my mom on hold for 20 minutes. My dad had to call and place the order in english. Then fries were soggy, the quesadillas were soggy and they forgot the wings we ordered. I am writing this review because of their horrible customer service. Its too bad. read more

I have visited this place several times and find the food to be very good and portions are just right. The place itself is very nice, clean and spacious. Parking can be a bit challenging even though they do have a small parking area, now here is the opportunity, the service. Each time that I have come here they seem understaffed and disorganized. You will find yourself waiting too long just to get a cup of coffee. They are not staffing nor training there team effectively. It is almost as if they throw there employees on to the floor to fend for themselves. This must be addressed soon since this is not a newly opened restaurant, customer attentiveness needs to be PRIORITY ONE, especially since they are not the only game in town. Happy there open. The place is nice but unlike the old jimmy's which service was great and fast this one is slower even though they have more staff. I've come in so far 13 times thinking it would get better and I've come to the realization that maybe I just need to come here if there's no other option. other then that when the food finally comes and it's cold it's ok. This place is the original diner Jimmy's Diner at Bruckner plaza, and of course I was thrilled to learn that they re-opened at another location, And let me tell you that it is better than ever!! I have been going to Jimmy's for 13 years and it is the epitome of what a traditional Greek diner should be and now Jimmy has added that modern flair and twist to the place and the menu! Staff is amazing and on point, nice new uniforms that make them all look so professional. The food is amazing, I tried a new item this weekend...Huevos Rancheros: DELISH!!! This place is essentially an upscale diner and I don't mean that in a disparaging way. They have a full menu and a warm staff. Full disclosure: I live literally a block away. Generally my wife and I do breakfast here which is always great but I've also done dinner here on a few occasions. (Get the pernil/roast pork...thank me later) They have a full bar and the drinks are also good and reasonable priced with most ringing in at about $10. There are also several TVs that can be viewed from most vantage points, so they can satisfy the sports fan but also don't do it in an overwhelming "sports bar" type of fashion. They are a bit overhead, so not distracting at all. The decor here is really nice and they have an upstairs for private events, that I believe can adequately seat about 40-50 people. I've seen a few baby showers and birthdays happening there, which looked beautifully decorated and do not infringe on the diners as they also have a separate stairwell access. Good all around spot, especially to have a nice dinner on the cheap. read more

Love this place! The restaurant is beautiful nice setup. Service is always attentive and every time I go I am seated right away. The food is always good and they have $5 frozen or on the rocks drinks for happy hour. For appetizer, I usually get their nachos which are packed with yummy ingredient. Their sweet plantain cups are really good too they also substitute the beef for chicken. For entree I always get the salmon burger and fries which is great. I ask for chipotle mayo sauce because it comes with just lettuce and tomato. Overall I would highly recommend the restaurant if you're looking for a nice atmosphere with good food and cheap drinks. read more

The food is good here. I had the tostones rellenos and the calamari, very good and it filled.up my boyfriend and without an entree. The drinks were delicious, I had the spicy Margarita and the coconut mojito, I enjoyed both. The customer service was phenomenal , the only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because I did not like the desert all that much , I had the Seventh Heaven Chocolate Cake and it was OK , but I also have to add I have a very high standard for chocolate , my boyfriend loved it. Drinks were good, fish and chips were subpar. Definitely don't order the counterfeit truffle fries. They tasted like a below average batch of plain fries and when I pointed out that they were not truffle fries, the server tried to convince me that the only difference between their regular fries and truffle fries was that they sprinkled olive oil and mozzarella cheese on it - somehow that makes them "truffle" fries? Jimmys is a deceptively clever lovely loud restaurant. I was here for my Aunts birthday party she rented out the 2nd floor area. It was a nice space, they gave us two waitresses to help with drinks from the bar and to help clean up. This is loud restaurant, make no mistake about it. Like i said i was here my Aunts birthday party. That being said, music was pretty good. Good rotation of salsa bachata (I might have butchered that) hip hop and old school hip hop. Nothing offensive either. Drinks were pretty strong, I don't know if that was because we were with the party but my rum and coke was rum with ice and a wee bit of coke. No complaints at all on that one. My girlfriends vodka and cranberry was the same. Food was good also. We had your standard catered dishes of pasta, chicken, vegetables, fish, salad and something else im sure im forgetting. However everything i tried was good so I will definitely be back. read more

I came in with my mom last week and was disappointed. We frequent this establishment somewhat often and love it, but I don't know what was going on that day. We walked in and someone was with the cashier being checked out. We stepped further in and there was a waiter to the right leaned up day dreaming. After waiting I asked if we could be seated and he sat us with menus and left. Then no one came back to the table. A different waiter was on his cellphone in the back and everyone else was preoccupied. It was early in the day and not too busy downstairs. There was a red and white themed birthday party going on upstairs. It was very hot outside so I walked to the bar for water. We then decided to stay at there at the bar to eat. SANDY saved this experience. She was awesome! Food was hot and tasty as usual. When Sandy switched shifts the new bartender allowed a kid at the bar drinking a cola. I thought that was weird. Sure enough a different drink fell on the table, glass shattered and liquid fell right where she was sitting and almost got her. Poor girl looked stunned. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this place. We recently booked the party room upstairs for my mothers 50th bday. (Now we've been there before and had a great time, so we figured lets throw her party here.) When we 1st went, we gave the amount of guest that we would have plus we wanted the 2 hours open bar (which is more like an hour and 20min. b/c they take a while to bring you your next beer)and we were given a fee of $1350 with taxes and gratuities included. We put the deposit down that same day. The day of the party, the price suddenly increased to over $1,700! APPARENTLY the woman who told us the price for everything gave us their old price. That should NOT be on us. We were told a certain price and that's the price that you should have honored. From my POV it seems like you get your customers at the end because you figure "They're already here so they'll have to pay." Its not only poor customer service but it is also wrong to have your customers pay for YOUR ERROR. read more
