I went in for a pedicure. The bowl had debris in it from the previous customer. I requested it be cleaned and she said she was going to put a bag over the bowl. She complied after I just sat with my feet on the floor until she did. She asked if I wanted them cut down. I said just a little and she proceeded to file them. When she begin to polish I asked if she was going to apply lotion. I was trying to figure out when because my heels still had mask on it and looked dry. After polishing my toes with regular polish the right big toe looked lumpy. They want you to get gel on your toes. Her and the guy who was not doing nails stated that if I didn't want it to look lumpy you have to use gel polish. I know that is not true. I never get gel. If it looks lumpy, either the polish needs to be disposed or the technician needs to work on his or her craft. When I requested she polish the right be toe again it looked much better. The shaping of the toes was mediocre. I understand everyone has to start somewhere, but when I thought I spotted a technician I had previously used at a different salon I asked her name. I had to make sure it was her because she was wearing a mask. I guess she was offended and told me I could ask for her the next time. Then began speaking to the man next to her in her native language. They had not talked the entire time until I was unsatisfied. I was planning on tipping her for her effort on the pedicure, but not after that sarcastic remark. I am well aware that that I can request another technician. It was a welcoming environment AT FIRST. My friend & I got Pedicures. I wanted a white toes w/ red french tip. As I started to notice that the shape of a fresh tip was off. The older lady that did my pedicure got a little irritated because I know what a straight line looks like and wanted her to correct it. DO. NOT. GO . HERE. If I could give zero stars I would. I'm absolutely disgusted in this poor excuse of a nail salon. I feel so dirty after getting a pedicure here. You NEED to read this experience that I had before you go! So this place was recommended to me by a friend, and I CANNOT see why. Let me go on...Ya'll... they are SO dirty there. And that is putting it lightly. There is a visible layer of nail dust, cuticles, nail clippings, sticky substances (and who knows WTF else) all over every surface you see and touch. You can SEE the grime with your own MF eyes. The pedicure chair I sat in was legit sticky and the bowl for your feet had a layer of sediment all around it from the last persons feet. I can promise you that they do not follow OSHA's standards. They do NOT use single-use sterilized utensils on their clients. THAT IS A HUGE NO-NO. Everything they use has been used on the last person who went before you and also before them, and so on. It's all re-used AND NOT CLEANED. Let that sink in. Let me explain... The guy who did my pedicure grabbed a nail file, pumice stone and callus grater THAT ALL HAD CAKED ON SKIN AND CALLUSES from the last person on them. I am not exaggerating. I watched him scrub it off IN MY WATER before he used them on me. Other peoples skin, calluses, fungus, bacteria, viruses, nails shards, etc were now floating around in my water where my feet are. What is the point of putting down a liner in the bowl if you're going to do that? Jimmy Nails has ZERO understanding of what Standard Precautions are. He continued to use them on my feet without saying a word. This was their norm. These are their standards. The foam nail file was literally falling apart. It had layers of nail dust from previous clients nails. He trimmed my cuticles too short and made me bleed badly. He literally took a chunk out of my big toe. Photo attached (finally healing now). My toe wouldn't stop bleeding, so he applied some kind of green liquid in a dropper to my toe...touching the dropper TO MY BLOODY TOE as he put it back into the bottle to get more. I WAS SHOCKED. My blood was on that dropper.. and he put it back into the bottle to be used on someone else later. WOW. Ya'll...That is how you receive a blood borne illness and infection! As a health care professional, I am absolutely disgusted and was cringing and internally screaming. He had ZERO understanding of standard precautions. Moments later, my toe is still bleeding because again, he literally took a chunk out of my toe. So he proceeded to put SUPER GLUE on my wound, which burned so bad. And I know that wasn't good for my exposed flesh. He then applied pressure to my toe with his thumb... and the super glue stuck his thumb to my toe. FUC**ING MORON. Ya'll.. I can't make this up. This MF yanked his thumb off my toe and went on about his business like nothing happened. Later, he was using a ratty/over-used- skanky lookin wash cloth to dry his arms off and dust off his pants from layers of nail dust & cuticles from the day. He set that same wash cloth on top of his cart where all the supplies was sitting. Ya'll... I watched him pull down his mask and use this wash cloth to wipe his nose with. Legit boogers on it. Brace yourself...He then proceeded to dry off my feet and legs with that same ratchet skanky piece of cloth. Ya'll... I about jumped out of my seat and hit the ceiling when he did this. I RAN out of there when he was done. That "service" cost me $36. Praying to God I don't get an infection or later learn I contracted a blood borne disease from him breaking my skin. Who else is this man cutting up so nonchalantly!? Also... who charges $90 for French tip acrylics!? That is what they charged my sister. Basic nails.. nothing fancy.. $90. Pretty sure they did that because we are approaching the holidays. Be warned. Do not go here. read more

A friend and I took a rather long trip to this shop after seeing the quality of their nail art. Our nails turned out just how we wanted which is great - BUT the staff (all but a younger guy and the woman that does the nail art) were rude to us, they ignored us even after having us sit in chairs. I came to get a fill, they said they couldn't do it because I was getting a color change. I said okay, no problem i will get a soak off and full overlay. As I am 30 minutes into soaking off, one of the workers tells my nail worker to check on my nails. He verbally refuses and continues to let me soak.... So a different worker comes up to drill my nails a little and speed up the soak off since he refused. Fast forward to me choosing a color. My nail tech brings me a powder and asks if i like it. I say not really, can i see the color book so i can see all my options? He proceeds to bring me another powder...... long story short, i had to ask him THREE times to bring me the acrylic color book so i could choose my color. Lastly, as we are finishing up , i notice he has filed one of my natural nails crookedly..... i ask him if he can please try to straighten it out as i got a square shape and it's super noticeable. He proceeds to say "that's your nail, your nail is crooked. I can't do anything about that" It literally got to the point where I had to tell him "I've been here before and none of the other nail techs had an issue with my nails being crooked. I've been going here since I was in high school. Stopped going when I moved, but I moved back and although they have nicer seats and great receptionist, they give terrible service. The prices change depending on who's chair you sit in. Every time I go either me or someone else is arguing with an tech about the price changing despite getting the same thing two weeks ago. I got an ingrown toenail from here, I didn't realize what it was and brought it to their attention a week later. I was brushed off and told I would have to pay for another soak. Richard does amazing full sets though, as well as a few others. But I can't get my nails done again until my toenail grows back. read more

My third friends nails started to come off within a day of getting her nails and the guy got mad because she didn't want him to redo her nails, but she had to let the original nail tech redo her nails because she wanted her money back. I gave this place one star because this is the only place in STL that can do elaborate designs and beautiful work. However, it comes at a price that seems to be a bit over what it actually offers. 1) This place charges extra for length, they don't inform you that a lot of the things you ask for will be extra, so you NEED TO make sure to ask. They also will automatically put gel on you before you have a chance to say no, so make sure you tell them you don't want gel beforehand if you just want a regular mani or pedi. The girl next to me found out the hard way. She asked for a regular color change, but they made it gel and was charged for it even though she didn't ask. My nails were a plain nude color, and they charged me $80. Apparently the breakdown was $60 for the full set at the length it was (so they charge more for longer nails), $10 for the actual manicure, $5 for removal of previous nails, $5 for powder. So be sure you take your nails off yourself, and DON'T expect a manicure. 2) The actual manicure is never included in your full set; it is an EXTRA $10. I thought it was included within the price, but it is not. So, if that's what you want, make sure to ask. Finally, 3) They are also extremely rough. As seen in the picture below, the nail tech I had burned my finger with the electric nail file and broke skin until it bled. I was not given a bandaid or Vaseline. He just ignored it. 4) Finally, they do not have a menu anywhere. That in itself is enough to make a nail place sketchy. Businesses will do this so they can change the prices on you, and you won't be able to argue by referring to a set menu. Again, although this is one of the few places that has great availability and beautiful work, it is not worth the price. I think it would be better to go to an independent nail tech which is what I will be doing next time. read more

If was at any other establishment they are entitled to repair nails that one of they're nail technicians made a mistake on the customer should not be held responsible or liable. Any available nail tech should've been able to fix my nail at no cost. Instead I had to wait for the owner to arrive and no one knew when she would arrive I had one nail that needed to be fixed with one simple color. Just left Jimmys nail bar ! Would have been great except I sat in acetone for 50 minutes while the man did another client and didn't once ask me if I was okay or try to send someone else to help me . OH & was watching a video on his phone. After trying to politely complain to a manager I was told that I still had to pay $10 for the removal and that she would "coach" her workers. I came in for a pedicure and manicure Ava was my technician. Ava offered me a gel pedicure several times and I continued to refuse gel with my pedicure because I was not keeping this color for long. Since I didn't want a gel pedicure I was told that I would have to wait an hour for my pedicure to dry before they would start on my manicure with gel polish because I didn't want a gel pedicure. Then when I still did not want a gel pedicure they told me they did not have the color I wanted. I received my pedicure and headed to Happy Nails off of Lindbergh for my manicure with gel because they offer great customer service and don't mistreat their customer because they don't want to be charged for a certain service they don't want.
