I feel extremely blessed to have been able to expose my boys to a wonderful Jiu Jitsu gym. The structure is amazing! Choka and his family are all involved with the gym. I have a 10 and 3 1/2 year old. My 10 year old went to a gym prior to this one and we paid double the price and he didn't nearly get as much education and knowledge as he's gotten in the past two months from Choka. My 3 year old is excited to start in May when he turns 4. They still welcome him in and involve him on certain things. It's amazing! You won't be disappointed! This gym is for all ages. They have different groups and times. I would give this gym a 10 if I could!

Mr. Thompson is a really great teacher and after watching him teach a class, it's easy to understand why this is the best school in the area, especially for children. I don't remember if it was the least expensive (they all seemed right about the same), but there is nothing second-rate about this school. The emphasis isn't just on fighting, which is probably better for kids in most cases, but more on focus, persistence, consistency and doing the best you can regardless of the skill level. I would definitely recommend Task to anyone, especially if you're looking to get a child into martial arts training for the first time.

If participants attend regularly they will end up with well balanced and full-body results. I will admit, my 5 star experience is the Sparta Eupraxia which is too new to be on Yelp yet, but it looks like they are standardizing these gyms so I'm sure the same 5 stars apply in Onalaska.

I got injured every few weeks and had to take off several weeks to let my shoulders, elbows,and knees heal. I could work out only ~6 out of 14 months that I signed up for. They make you do your own warm up at the beginning and there is no stretching at the end. Guidance is minimal. Seem like the guidance is given on the need to know bases. I brought this up with the management however I was told that this is how they will run the place. I would rather go to a place which has warm-up and stretching built into the instructed run exercise time. This place is run by a chiropractor who consider himself a doctor, a scientist and a nutrition specialist however he is a vaccine denier and preach to eliminate nuts from the diet. He sends out articles via email with his jaw dropping ignorant pseudoscience crazy theories about fish oil, probiotics and multivitamins. Being a GI doctor I have a certain level of competence in nutrition and probiotics and I always found this guy's ignorant and misleading spin on these topics appalling and dangerous.

I would like to explain why my son is no longer involved with this organization. My 11 year old son…read morecame home from karate class limping and unable to put his legs together. He proceeded to show me a big purple welt on his inner thigh, given to him by his 7th degree 'master'. The instructor was demonstrating bear-hug defense and purposely pinched my son extremely hard on his inner thigh, leaving a painful purple welt and leaving my son questioning why a trusted, respected teacher of martial arts would inflict needless pain on him. As a parent and a student of martial arts, I needed to know as well. 'Master' Jim explained to me on the phone, that by his choice, he does those things to the children to "toughen the kids up". How about wind sprints until puking? How about kicking a pad until you can't lift your leg?? You take it upon yourself to physically hurt our children with your own hands? 'Master' Jim was anything but apologetic on the phone and kept preaching that he's been demonstrating this move for over 20 years. At the age of 11, my son has been immersed in karate and kickboxing for most of his life. He's always full of new bruises and welts from competing, so I'm not too concerned with superficial injuries. We just moved to the area and thought Villari's would be a good fit for him. I was dead wrong. I would never subject my children to a martial arts instructor, who sends the kids home with marks that he intentionally left on them. This was during a demonstration in front of the class. They were not actively grappling or sparing. This was a red flag, not only to the injury of my son, but to be teaching a self defense technique that utilizes a pinch to the skin.... He declined to demonstrate the pinch on me, after I willing told him I'd love to come in to drill bear-hug defense with him. #mcdojo

This place is excellent for family's, kids and adults of all ages and abilities! From beginners…read morejust starting out, to intermediate and advanced martial artists, there is something for everyone!! My kids have been part of this program for over 5 years and the skills they learned are not just martial arts related, but my daughter who was shy and quiet has gained so much confidence and has absolutely grown into a beautifully secure and strong young woman who believes in herself and that she can do anything. My son just excels as well and it has helped so much with his speech issues he had when he was younger. They also have a little dragon program that starts at 4 years old, and my youngest started that. Excellent group of kids and adults there who all make you feel welcomed and included into the karate family! This was very important to me because your kids being surrounded by respectful, hardworking kids help them to do the same. . Excellent friend group!! I also started taking the adult classes- they have a fight fit ladies class which has truly changed my life and helped me become so much healthier! They offer two days of morning classes, and afternoons four days a week. Homeschool classes for kids and Mom can work out at the same time in the women's classes. Grappling, karate, pankration, weapons classes.. there's something for everyone!! Highly recommend all of their programs!!
