It's convenient to Hwy 26 and gas, but spendy. The prices are small town, tourist snack stop feels to them and the selection of items is more limited that I expected. But they had candy and soda so it's was okay. It would never be a go to stop, just a stop if need and convenience. read more

There's a mask mandate, we are in the middle of a pandemic, and none of the employees are wearing a mask as of today. I understand this is kind of a rural area and people don't have access to the best public school education, but things aren't looking great nation wide and it's well covered in public announcements and news. The potato wedges are delicious and the lady at the deli counter was polite which is why I have a 4 star rating. Before you go into this store, I think it's best to be informed of the risk. read more

I'm extremely appalled that a business would not follow a mask mandate. I agree there is only so much you can do about customers who come in, especially in a town like Banks, but as the local grocery store I kind of expected better. This was kind of the cherry on top of constantly ending up with expired product. I don't think they restock correctly. I've ended up with a package of bacon over a month expired. Jim's - I'm still going to shop here occasionally because you are close to my house but DO BETTER. Please care about the health and safety of your customers. I'm disgusted. read more

We love Jim's. They make their own jerky that we also love, well I accidentally put one package in our bait cooler while crabbing at the coast so I decided to add it to our bait boxes and this little red rock would not let go for the life of him. I took him out of the cooler to cook just over an hour later and he was still grasping it with a death grip. read more

I've seen liquor stores in little kiosk sections of other Thriftways (Garden Home and Strohecker's Thriftways in Portland), but this one out in BFE Banks, OR has it behind their customer service desk. I stopped in on the way to pick up my grandma from her nursing home to grab pumpkin pie. Then I noticed the liquor counter! The only liquor store that was open on Thanksgiving? Highly possible. And it's open the same hours as the grocery store, which I don't think is the case for other liquor-stores-in-grocery-stores I've seen. Prices are similar to other Thriftways, which means things are a good $1-5 dollars more expensive here than at other area gorceries. But Banks doesn't have much in the way of competition, and they seem to be well stocked. read more

This is a very stable and quite decent store. It's hard to rate it since in the middle of Portland, it would be more like 3 star, but out here there are much different requirements. I used to live about 3 blocks from a New Seasons, so my "norm" may be different from yours. They have very decent prices on canned goods (Pace Salsa is my favorite canned item). they have very good sale prices and you need to come in quick or the stuff will vanish. I do eat some of the fresh veggies here and I have never had a big problem. Their meat looks comparable to a standard supermarket and sometimes it's significantly cheaper. They always seem to have AngryOrchard green apple hard cider and that's a hard to find flavor so I really appreciate their consistency there. There is a liquor store inside the location (but you pay separately), look straight to the left as soon as you enter the store. read more

I wish all grocery stores were like this one. Extremely personable and friendly, helpful staff. Take a breather and chat with them when your in shopping. Not only do they know where things are around the store, while walking you right to the items, they will get you up to speed on local events and things. Really refreshing to find an upbeat store where in no time get greeted by name. **From time to time the deli has RED jalapeno poppers. They have more bite than the typical green. During summer weekends, you can get fresh BBQ right out front. Occasionally, you will find a small white trailer parked up next to the storefront where the Boy Scouts are selling hot dogs for a quarter each! read more

Yummy local eggs, fruits,meats,veggies. A couple of Unique features: They do fresh BBQ'd local meats every weekend in the summer, and have an alcohol counter in the store(which is rare in Oregon due to our alcohol regulations). Every time i visit the liquor store i am greeted with a nice smile from Renee, she is always extremely helpful! That's the good side. I have been burned twice on meat from meat dept. Ground beef was so horrible we couldn't eat it after we made & grilled hamburgers, extremely tough & gristly. Then thought I'd try them again & bought a cross rib roast. It was so bad we couldn't eat it & had to throw it out. I've used the same roast recipe for 15 years & never had this happen. Both times the package said St. Helens Meats which I thought was good meat. read more

Stopped by chance on a drive back from Tillamook to Portland. Purchased a full rack beef ribs for $12.00 They turned out to be aweful! Nothing edible on the ribs! And, I like barbeque ribs. I would not have used one star but could not do so. UPDATE Stopped by the store later in the week and manager gave me a full refund, but why they barbecue bare bones in the first place mystifies. read more

The staff is fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. The selection is somewhat limited, being out in the middle of nowhere as Banks is, but it's not bad. The liquor store inside is very convenient. Again, not the greatest selection, but they seem to be open anytime the grocery store is open so that's a plus! The only negative we've seen is the produce - looks good in the store but tends to go bad in just a couple of days. read more

Not the place to go if you are disabled. I have shopped at Jim's for 2 years. Recently I had surgery that put me on crutches for a long period of time. I started off needing a disabled parking spot. One of the occupants of the limited front store parking (most of it was an unused BBQ tent) was a vehicle without a parking permit. In the store there is no electric cart, bag with a handle, or any way other way of loading a couple grocery items. I asked an attendant if there was a local restaurant with a drive through window since I couldn't purchase my groceries. I was simply told no. Since this trip, I now drive to Forest Grove to Safeway. The employees are helpful and the store is set up for injured/disable patrons. In addition, the produce is fresher, the shelf life of food is not close dated like Jim's. Well worth driving the extra distance. Even when I am off of crutches and not in need of the extra assistance, I don't see myself shopping at Jim's unless it is an emergency single item. I was really let down. read more
