Visited this place as we were passing through Port Perry. The appearance of the restaurant isn't anything special. It looked like a nice small town place when we walked in. The quality of the presentation and food for both my wife and me was excellent. My dinners presentation was a work of art. The sushi was very tender and nice tasting. I come here quite often, small little place, wouldn't suggest large groups. Come here if you have A LOT of time to spare. They make their food with love so it takes some time. The food is fresh and delicious and very authentic IMO. It is pricey too but worth it, i think. read more

First of all - WAY TOO MUCH WASABI IN THE SUSHI! Maybe they put so much to hide the taste of the fish, but every piece burned the hell out of my sinuses. So..the fish didn't seem bad..not fishy at all..but it could just be that the wasabi killed all my senses. (I stopped dipping in my soy/wasabi and scraped out most of the wasabi and rice after the first piece, and it was still over-powering) The only sushi/sashimi combo they had came with california rolls which were fine..(can California rolls really be anything more than fine?) The salad was tiny and dressing was way sweet, and the miso was very salty. Not worth the $20. - I did take-out so maybe that was a factor. Honestly, this was more of a 2-star experience, but I guess the standards and prices in Port Perry can't be the same as a big city..plus I want to see this place stick around since I think it's the only Japanese restaurant in the area. I may go there again and try the sashimi and different rolls. Or the Korean food which is probably better since it appears to be run by Koreans and their only other customers there was a Korean family...they must know what's good. read more

First of all, this is more of a Korean restaurant as very few of the dishes are actually Japanese. The all-you-can eat menu is very short, WAY over-priced and unclear about how much food you're actually ordering (apparently 1 yam tempura is actually an ENTIRE bowl of tempura). The food was so greasy that even the plate the sushi came on was slick with grease. On top of that, it had garbage on the bottom of it. The salad dressing was greasy, the gyoza was covered in panko and really disgusting (in all of the Japanese restaurants in Canada AND Japan both that I've been to, I've never seen that, and quite frankly, I'm glad...it was gross). There was more wasabi on the nigiri than fish and it was very poorly made. The service was horrible. It was 10-15 minutes before someone even asked us about drinks (we were the only people in the restaurant). We had three different people waiting on us, all of whom mumbled at us and I could barely understand a word that was spoken. The food was more expensive than all-you-can-eat restaurants in Toronto and the quality was honestly akin to a TV dinner. I will never go back there. I felt physically ill from all the grease and I'd rather spend the extra money in gas to go somewhere where I don't feel like I'm dying after I eat. read more

Good food which, sadly, was offset on our first visit, by a waitress that didn't understand Canadian - difficulty understanding a simple request for water! Our second visit was better - this time the sushi chef served us mostly - as the person that understood Canadian. I went to this place for the first time today with my parents. We loved it! Our waiter was very well mannered and attentive. The food was excellent and I loved that it had unusual choices as they had Korean food too. Their kimchi sushi was so delish! And after the owner came and asked us how we enjoyed our meals and he was really nice and friendly. We can't wait to come back soon! This is the best sushi I have ever had in my life and I have tried a lot of sushi. It always tastes very fresh and the rolls are a perfect size. We absolutely LOVE the spicy yaki udon. We eat at this restaurant at least twice per week. read more
