Bizarrely, the entrance was on the back side of the store where it looks more like you're in a warehouse district. It wasn't the most impressive Asian grocery, and indeed the other one I visited nearby was better in selection on almost everything I look for: Asian produce, fresh noodles, hot sauces and oils. The notable aspects of this one were an owner who really knew his selection, and who commented on the fact that I must be a vegetarian. The reason being that I bought (and they sell) an absolutely enormous variety of tofu. There were frozen tofu bits, tofu sheets, fresh tofu, tofu with some kind of "lava" inside. I found at least four separate sections in the store with notable amounts of tofu products. So while I didn't buy a ton of other things, I will be flush on soy products for a while and would definitely recommend to any vegetarian looking for some high-protein products to come here. read more

The entrance is in the back! I'm glad I was warned ahead of time about where the entrance is. You walk up a set of stairs that was right next to the dumpster, which was a bit aromatic when I dane by on a weekday. The workers at this location were not keen on interacting, but when I did approach asking about dashi packs the cashier seemed friendly enough. There are a wide variety of teas available, but most of the meat is frozen. The produce looked like it was of acceptable quality and there was a good variety. For dried goods and teas, this market is a good option. There were not a lot of expiration dates on anything, so for sure I would watch out for that with packaged items. read more

This is a convenient place right off the highway but in terms of fresh produce or meat, it rates well below the neighboring Asian markets. It's nothing like a Ranch 99, H Mart or Mitsuwa so don't come in with high expectations. When I arrived, the owner's son was running around bumping into customers, shouting and pretending to block people at the entrance. It's a family owned place so that's all fine and good but it's definitely not good business practice. I normally shop at another local place but my friend asked me to pick her up some items so I needed pork, rice and veggies but couldn't bring myself to purchase the badly wilted veggies or the warm pork sitting out on the tables. I even found one with ripped packaging and when I alerted the owner, he assured me it'd be rewrapped and back on the selling floor-gross! Update from 12/2017... this place is getting better. Went to another near the Ft Gordon base and it was so limited.. virtually no fresh produce. Went back today and was pleased and found almost everything I needed to make a great dinner tonight What a relief to find a decent Asian Market! I'm from DC but occasionally in this area and I thought I would have to drive to Atlanta.. nope.. clean and pretty comprehensive store with a distinctive Viet flavor to many products but I think the owners are Viet-Chinese so there are lots of Chinese produce and frozen items. Very hard to locate since the front of the mall - across from one of those big home depot like stores tell you nothing.. You have to drive along the back of the strip mall and look for the large red characters, then at the nearest place open in the back, make a sharp turn behind the mall and you'll see an industrial set of stairs and the Chinese characters for Jinlong. read more

My family used to make several weekend trips to Atlanta for the Chinese grocery stores but when Jinlong appeared on the scene in Augusta a few years ago, my family was able to cut down the number of trips to Atlanta just for Chinese groceries. The owner here is very nice. I believe he buys most of the produce and whatnot from the Atlanta grocery stores and brings them back to the store to sell here. The aisles are a bit narrow but you can find a lot of products here. I don't live in the Augusta area anymore but I do remember the weekend trips to Jinlong enough to comment about it! The first time that I came to this store I didn't know about the entrance, so I want that to be the first thing you read when you see my review--to enter the store you need to go around to the backside of the shopping center and enter from behind. This store is not wheel chair accessible from that entrance, it is a small flight of stairs. Now, with that out of the way... I love coming to this store--I know that the standards that the US holds for décor and setup are not really satisfied in the setup of this store but I think people need to change their perspective when they enter it. I lived in Japan for a brief season and even though the owners are not Japanese, the store feels like home. The atmosphere is different than stores we have in the US but I still love it. They have Japanese, Chinese, Filipino and Korean products. And when I start missing Japan it feels nice to walk into something that feels familiar that also allows me to purchase some familiar products. Amazing selection of Japanese foods!!! :D They also carry things like bowls for soup, chopsticks, pressure cookers, and lots of other neat Asian things for your kitchen. I believe they accept EBT, and take debit/credit as long as you buy over 10 dollars worth of stuff. I'll take pictures the next time I go, but this place is awesome! This is our first time at Jinlong, and per others feedback use the back door. At first we were apprehensive to enter because we only saw two cars parked in the back, and it looked kind of sketchy, but we went up the stairs and opened the door and we were immediately greeted by the man at the door. I wanted fresh green leafy asian vegetables, but unfortunately a lot of the vegetables I saw today are wilted, but it made up for the friendly customer service of the two ladies that were putting items on the shelf. The place has a weird set up. The entrance is at the back of the building rather than the front. It'll be easy to miss if you don't drive in and look at the signs. The inside is rather small but they pack a lot into that small space. You can find a variety of things here from frozen food, to produce and even betel nut. Yes! Great store to get some vegan staples Has most of what we routinely buy, and at prices less than similar stores in Columbia, SC. We can also shop on base at the commissary but their Napa Cabbage and cilantro is less expensive and fresher. Their fresh ginger is $2/lb less than the commissary and significantly fresher. And no one can touch their tofu prices and unlike the commissary they always are well stocked, so it is worth a visit for vegans just to stock up on basics. Much of their Chinese desserts and packaged vegetables happen to be vegan so it is a great treat to pick up something fun and new. read more

Lady at the cashier is mean and rude at customer. Im also an Asian, and i know that she is a Chinese, and she is the boss there. But she is nice, saying thank you to Americans, greeting them only. I paid for the 2 items and asked for the receipt, she literally threw the receipt at me. Yes, she THREW the receipt on the counter and waited for me to pick it up. She did not even say anything. She did not bother to hand it to me respectfully at all. Maybe i only bought 2 items today and paid for them about $5 only. Thats why she treated me like that? What kind of that customer service? The other times I came there, there was her husband, and he was doing a cashier job, but he is nice and greet all customers. His lady is just mean, no smile, no speak at other Asian customers, only say to her Chinese. What is wrong with the "Hi, how are you doing?" "May I help you something?" "Thank you for buying our grocery" or "Have a good day"? This is not my first time that i get treated mean like this at this store. If i did not think i should come there to get Asian stuff I need and also support Asian, I would have giving up this place for long. I'm here visiting family and were baffled by how unprofessional the male employee was. He literally yelled at my mom multiple times. Finally, I had to confront the guy and tell him he was being extremely rude to paying customers. We didn't receive an apology or anything, he just argued with me! Not impressed! We bought a lot of snacks and did not checked for expiration date. The package that we opened did not have an expiration date outside then when we opened the inside the item showed 2017. We tried to return it since it was 2 years ago but they refused to provide a refund because it was already opened. They insisted that it was the manufactured date. Check the expiration first before buying from this place. Need FDA and Health Department check their products for expiration date to ensure they are safe for human consumption. A decent Asian grocery store that carries basic food items; however, be aware of the 'not so fresh' meats. We purchased meatballs there and noticed that it was spoiled when we returned home. This place is pretty good for your Asian cooking needs. They are getting better at carrying items that you may have to shop in Atlanta for but there are still some things they are missing. The overall store layout is cluttered and hard to navigate but the people are friendly. The prices, such as coconut milk, are lower than your chain stores so check them out and save a little money to boot. read more

I have never experienced rude staff here, as they have been very friendly and helpful, and they have a wide range of food I haven't been able to find anywhere else around here. Other reviewers have mentioned the meat, and honestly I haven't bought any besides some quail eggs so I can't really attest to that. They have a large selection of frozen fish. They also have a large selection of veggies you can't find many other places. In general I think they have a very good selection of foods and I think the prices are very good.
