I took Reiki Level 1 and 2 training with Jissel this month, and I'm so glad I did. I signed up last minute due to my hectic schedule, and I'm very grateful that she was so accommodating and allowed me to join. The two-day training, held at her beautiful UpSoul studio in Midtown, was an amazing experience. I especially loved the living wall of plants--it created such a calming, vibrant atmosphere. The studio is also very convenient, with a small kitchen where you can store your lunch in the refrigerator, and filtered water available, which was super helpful. While I personally chose to eat out (it was too hot to carry food around), others brought lunch and ate in the space comfortably. Jissel also gave us thoughtful gifts, like a small teddy bear for practicing distance Reiki, a thorough training manual, and a starter kit that included sage and a palo santo stick. I'm excited to use these tools as I continue my daily Reiki practice. Since the training, I've noticed real shifts in my energy levels throughout the day--I feel more balanced and energized. Transformative is the best word to describe my first experience with Jissel during a workshop she was giving on inner child healing. I literally decided on a whim to attend that workshop, never imagining it would be life changing for me. The energy healing she applied lifted off a lifetime of negative energy that I didn't even realize was there to be lifted. I was hooked and I knew I had to see her again. About a month later, I started several one-on-one sessions, and I can't say enough about how it's jump started my personal growth which had hit a plateau after years of talk therapy. Talk therapy served me well, but it couldn't do what Jissel's holistic counseling and Reiki does, which is actually move/remove the energy in your body, clear out the negative, and leave you calmer, more peaceful, and able to think in a more positive and productive way. I had been dealing with an eye allergy for over a year. I had been to the eye doctor, allergist, general practitioner and dermatologist, and not one of them could tell me anything helpful about where or why I was dealing with this. My eye allergy was terrible - painful, itchy beyond belief most days to where I would want to scratch my eyes out on a daily basis. It was interfering with my quality of life, and there was no relief from anyone. After that first session with Jissel at the workshop, I noticed the next day that my eyes were not bothering me, and they got better over the subsequent days - a true miracle. They slowly started to get irritated again over the course of several weeks. When I started my one-on-one with Jissel and received energy from her, my eyes again cleared up. Since then, my eyes have not ever gone back to the irritated state they were in for over a year, and I am beyond grateful for this. If you haven't been successful with other modalities for mental and emotional healing, I cannot recommend Jissel enough. I had an amazing experience with Jissel. I hadn't experienced Reiki prior to my first session with her. She spends time in the beginning asking you questions and understanding what brought you to Reiki or what you're going through that you're hoping to heal from, if anything. I have been working with Jissel since July 2015, beginning with a Reiki Meditation group at Mind Body Soul Studio. Like other reviewers, I can say that she definitely helped me change my life, and this is almost and understatement. Energy work has always appealed to me because I have felt it in the past (through qi gong), but I did not realize then that it could provide the natural healing outlet I have been searching for and, until now, failing to find. Over the past eight months, I have experienced just how powerful reiki can be. At times it felt like nothing was happening, other times were challenging (I broke through several painful patterns, familial and personal). Many many times (including the first), I felt stagnant energy release so I could be free to accomplish things that I had been too anxious and depressed to do.
