This place is okay if you don't mind being bombarded with right wing propaganda the entire time. I knew something was amiss when the first thing I saw when entering was large copies of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence displayed on the wall next to seals for all branches of the military. Okay, fine. That's their right. As you look around, however, you start to see Bible quotes and a hat embroidered with "FBI: Firm Believer In Jesus." Still, it's their right. The most obnoxious thing, however, was the large tv screen blaring a show on Fox News. It was inescapable. The proprietor evidently finds Fox hilarious because he and his old, white patrons were laughing and chiming in on the nonsense being spewed on the screen. Again, it's their prerogative. That doesn't mean I have to patronize them and I won't. Amazing that so-called Christians relish such hatefulness. The coffee was good. The breakfast sandwich was reminiscent of a McDonald's Egg McMuffin. There's too much competition in the coffee business these days to patronize places you find obnoxious. read more

The bathroom was more like an old school sitting room, the soup was perfectly seasoned and chunky, and the cheese was the perfect consistency. The pride the owner has in this cafe was amazing. I stopped while passing through Aberdeen because I wanted to support a local coffee shop instead of Starbucks. I was initially amused to see a patron sleeping in the window in a sunbeam as I approached, which I thought was funny for a place named "jitter house." But that was the only sleepy thing here! The owner opened the door to welcome me in a refreshingly friendly manner, and when I was indecisive at the counter, he recommended the cafe con azuquita, described as Cuban coffee. It was strong and delicious! I took it to go, but I can note that the bathrooms are clean and spacious, and there is lots of inviting space to chat with a friend or get some reading done. Love this place! If you come here, order the cafe con azuquita. I live in Portland and the quality of the coffee here is comparable (if not better) to what you can get at the local shops there.
