This place just keeps winning me over. The owners are great, and I'm now hooked on their cookies!

Nice new option for coffee and pastries in Hoquiam, right off the 101 North. The turn into the parking lot will sneak up on you quickly as you come around the bend, so slow it down and watch carefully for the signs...miss the turn and you'll have to cross the river twice circling back around for another chance. I had an Americano and a delicious oatmeal raisin cookie. The coffee was "solid" (just like the name of the business) and the cookie was moist chewy and delicious...check out the size of their cookies in my pics! They are as thick as two normal cookies! The shop, located in the historic Vasa Hall, is comfy and casual with a nice view of the Southbound 101 bridge over the Hoquiam River.

    16oz lavender latte

Solid is a great description. The service was professional and timely. We got a hot Carmel macchiato and a lavender latte. A gluten free lemon cake(huge slice!), a large portion of oatmeal(bananas, raisins and cinnamon), and sausage, egg and cheese grill sandwich. Great value and everything tasted amazing. Seating-5ish circle tables with about 4 seats per. Old, eclectic building too.

I'm telling you. This is not your ordinary local pub…read more Gastronomically, Gorgeous. I could only decide (because there were ingenious choices) when our bar server, Hannah, suggested "Sweet Heat." Listed under "Pinsa Flat Bread" it came out 12"x6" thick bread perfectly browned in oven with gooey garlic/mozzarella but, wait, caramelized onions, thick-diced grilled chicken that tasted like bacon. Every two or three inches, one pickled jalapeño perfectly placed for heat that didn't burn, and over it all, drizzled HOT HONEY!!! My mouth was ecstatic. Pretty soon I couldn't wait to cut with my fork and knife to have my third and fourth triangled piece. Sitting, leaning over the high long bar, I just held the sticky, sweet cheesy spicy bread with all ten fingers tipping my head to catch the drips. Passion Orange Guava Cider washed it all down. I made a trip to the restroom and wash my hands then stopped at the kitchen window to rave about the menu with Clayton, the cook. This was all on a summer Monday night in June, low west sun shining into the cozy wood space, baseball silenced on the three screens, fun, toe-tapping music the whole two hours we stayed. The Gibbons couple have scored the times with their courage to do local, unusual creative food with a dialed-back vintage vibe.

I recommend ordering it with the fries. Love, gravy and fries. Would recommend some mushrooms, onions and carrots with the meat. Everything was wonderful, but the platanos and tacos were especially yummy. Everything was very affordable and the menu was set up small-plates/combo style, so you can try a couple dishes for a good price! It was pretty busy while we were there, but the young lady who helped us was killing it! She was there alone, but we were impressed by her hustle and work ethic. She spoke fluent Spanish with other customers as well. 100% recommend this place. We were just passing through Aberdeen, but if we lived closer I have a feeling we would eat our way through the menu in no time!

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5…read moreAmbiance: 4.5/5 For the food, we had the quesobirria tacos, a slew of papusas, carne asada tacos, and an adobada taco. The best bite, the quesobirria tacos, BY FAR. My daughter said it was "the best birria I've had in a long time." The meat was tender and (not to sound too cliche) the consommé was packed with flavor. The papusas the chicken and cheese was the best one, followed by the jalepeno and cheese, the rest were not bad, just nothing to write home about. As far as the tacos go, the carne asada was fine, the adobada had great flavor and a decent char on it. This made for a great post-crab fishing meal and will likely come back next time we're in town. Oh! This place is on the pricier side, just so there's no sticker shock. The service was decent, but I'm pretty sure our papusas were dished up wrong, but such is life when they all look the same, the inside of the restaurant is all of we the place but super clean.

Not sure how this place is sitting at 4.7 stars because, in my opinion, this is a 5-star…read moreestablishment in every sense of the word. And I'm a tough critic. As a flight attendant and an unapologetic foodie, I've eaten my way through cities all over the world. You learn pretty quickly when a restaurant is simply serving food versus when it's serving something made with genuine care. This place falls firmly into the second category. The customer service? Just the sweet Rainier cherry on top of an already incredible experience (and yes... go look at their bakery case while you're there). Jocelyn was phenomenal. I asked how this little slice of heaven came to be, and she happily shared the story behind it. One owner spent years as an executive chef at a casino, while the other built a career as a professional baker in Aberdeen. Boy, does that expertise show. I ordered the fried chicken and waffles. A little context: I mostly eat pescatarian these days, so when I do splurge on chicken, my expectations are sky high. I've built it up in my head as one of the foods I miss most (right alongside a good ribeye), and it's almost always disappointing. Not this time. This chicken is absolutely ridiculous. They debone a chicken thigh and fry it into the crispiest, juiciest piece of fried chicken I've had in a long time. It's made with a gluten-free batter, which means more people get to enjoy it. And before anyone assumes "gluten-free" means sacrificing flavor... think again. Plenty of great chefs will tell you the best fried coatings come from starches like potato or cornstarch anyway. What really made this meal special, though, was that my partner is vegan. If you've ever dined out with someone who's vegan while you aren't, you know how rare it is for both people to walk away feeling like they had an equally great meal. It almost never happens. Here, it did. She ordered the vegan Indian tacos with corn tortillas, and they looked incredible. She was excited to try the fry bread, and instead of simply serving it, the staff thoughtfully explained it wasn't vegan and helped her choose an alternative. That's the kind of attention to detail you don't forget. Our service was perfectly paced. If you're looking for food in five minutes, there are plenty of places where "cooking" means microwaving something that arrived frozen. This isn't one of those places. Everything tastes intentional, and that takes time. Our food still arrived in under 20 minutes, maybe even less. Slow down, talk to the people you're with, and enjoy the experience. Great food isn't supposed to feel rushed. We stumbled across this gem on our drive home from Ocean Shores, and I'm so glad we did. I only wish it were closer to home because we'd become regulars in a heartbeat. I can't recommend this place enough.
