Jiya is the best at eyebrows! Its a little pricier than I pay back home, but in their defense, I have a great deal at home. I've waited a little longer to get my eyebrows done here to justify the price (which again, isn't bad $13 for eyebrow and upper lip, but I'm used to paying $5). Anyway, totally worth it because Jiya is SO so good. I call in ahead of time to make sure she's available because she's the best. She isn't the type for small talk like some beauticians but honestly, I like that. I feel like there's then more focus on my service than the chatting. Easy, quick and relatively pain-free. I had only gotten my eyebrows threaded once before, several years ago on the west coast. The experience was one of the most painful things I have ever done, and it dragged on for almost 15 minutes. Since then, it has taken planning a wedding for me to suck it up and go get my eyebrows threaded again. So imagine my surprise when I popped into this little place and was finished in about 5 minutes without tears in my eyes and without the urge to ask the threader to stop. I now realize I must have gone to a very inexperienced person back in the day, but I had no basis of comparison. $8 + tip and it was super fast. Sure, they don't spend 5 minutes talking with you about what you're looking for and how you usually do your eyebrows, but the results were much better than I have even gotten with waxing/plucking. I have naturally thick eyebrows and she cleaned them up nicely without leaving my face looking ridiculous. I will take assembly-line style threading any day for the convenience this place offers. read more

I came to this salon only bcuz I was tired trying to find good place in Champaign (I had bad experience with my brows in other salons). I don't regret that I became their client. - Prices are very cheap. - If you explain them what you want, they will do it. - Even if you don't explain they will not thin your brows too much. I've been going here for two years only because I didn't know about the other place in town. Every time I come the workers never ask how I am, let alone carry a conversation with me. How could they with the movie playing in the background? Two of the three girls who work there always end up cutting my skin above my eye which already a sensitive area. They never smile. I have been a customer ever since they were in a kiosk in the mall years ago. I was thrilled when they moved to their new location because it is easy for a busy mom / business woman like me to pop in and out fast. The space is comfortable and service consistently good. They may not be super chatty but really I'm not really one who wants to make small talk during beauty sessions. I just want to go in, chill out quite, and be done. I have always loved how my brows look nice shape and not too thick not too thin...just right! I have sensitive skin and crazy thick eyebrows and brow hairs and I never have a problem with how they thread. I love how they take the time to make sure they get all the hairs. I tried the other place in town because of their great reviews. I thought I must be missing out but I hate the location and I had to go home and do a lot if cleanup work on my brows. And on top of that she had a nasty snotty cold that I ended up getting. Lesson learned.... read more

I was ANTI-threading til I let Gia do it. She is the Mistress of The Thread. It takes a certain temperament to do it. Gia has been leaving at night. I was skeptical & VERY RELUCTANT to get them done by one of the other two ladies in the shop. I was catching a flight out of O'hare at 5a so I didn't have much chose, they needed DESPERATE attention. Everyone likes what they like but I was NOT pleased at all. I pointed to 2 rogue hairs that needed to be plucked. She literally sat me back in the chair, combed them upward, & trimmed them...NOW there just 2 SHORTER, TRIMMED rogue hairs. I went home & plucked a total of 3 rogue hairs. What was the point of "threading" if all you are going to do is use a comb, lil trimming scissors, & a pair of tweezers when I get home!? Nonetheless, if GIA ain't there I'll suffer til she is. I'm giving them 4 stars because Gia is AWESOME & minus 1 because the younger lady doesn't have the skills to do a proper threading(practicing on PAYING customer isn't fair). read more

I did not have a good experience here. The threading took about twice as long as my threading place does back home. Also, it was hurting a lot, and when I sat up and looked in the mirror, my lip was bleeding! This should not happen from threading. They offer several other services, which may be fine, but I would not recommend their threading to anyone. read more

Not friendly at all walked in and didn't even greet me I sat down while the girl was watching tv and doing another person's eyebrows when it was my turn she told me to sit on the chair. I had to ask her to wipe off the man before me who had greasy hair and neck before I placed my head on the neck rest. My eyebrows came out good. Thankfully there was a commercial while she was doing them. I think they should clean and wipe off the neck and chair before someone sits and places their neck. $8 for perfect eyebrows every time, and you don't have to go into the mall anymore so it's easy in and now. Just tell them you want to keep them thick and only want a clean up. She usually has a line of people waiting just for her, so be sure to have a little time to wait, but she's so fast that she gets through the line quickly enough. I highly recommend this place if you need any eyebrow/facial threading, waxing, etc. done with amazing results. These ladies do a superb job and can I say, they are really friendly. I really like the fact that they greet you with a smile when you walk into the salon. Very affordable ($8 for eyebrow threading; can't beat that) while some places charge way more than that. They also give you a card so every time you go in they initial your card. After the 8th time, you can get your eyebrows threaded for free!! So, I will frequent this place from now on! read more

Agree with the below post - the ladies here consistently do a great job on hair removal. The building is not the fanciest place ever, but the quality of the threading is good every time and cheaper than when I used to do waxing. I usually just tweeze them myself and they were uneven for the longest time. Didn't think that could be fixed but she made them even and shaped them exactly how I asked her to! I just found this place today and it is fantastic!! One of the few places in Champaign to get threading (eyebrows, upper lip, etc.) and the only private place I know of. I prefer the results of threading to waxing but the only other place I know of is in the middle of the mall where all the people walking by can stare at you while you are in a strange position. This is a locally owned place and the owner did my eyebrows tonight. She did a perfect job and the prices are reasonable. The store is located in this little white building across the street from the mall (on the edge of the parking lot with Macy's, Sephora and Sears). It is kind of half-way between Sephora and Office Depot. I am so excited that I found it. I will be coming here on a regular basis. read more

I love how they do my eyebrow.I even went to her home to get my eyebrow done when they moved out of mall for short period.i think last 4 yrs they have their own location which is very convenient.They make my brow shape so perfect and make me look pretty :) I get so many compliments from my friends who used to pluck their own eyebrows. now most of them also go there and get it threaded. They don't listen to what the customer wants. I told them I wanted my eyebrows to stay thick but they made them very thin. I tried to go in many times to see if maybe it was a miscommunication and again I said I wanted thick not thin and each time I came out disappointed with pencil thin eyebrows. They are also rough when they thread the upper lip and don't try to make it less painful if you request that they not do it so rough, they just keep doing it the same and don't try to lessen the pain. Ive gone to many other places before where the threading is not as painful as they do it here and where they actually listen to what the customer wants. My eyes are always watery and red when I'm done. This is the last time I come here. If you like pencil thin eyebrows and painful threading this is the place for you. read more
