We hired David Messner with 1 Stop General Contracting to remodel our basement as well as a few…read moreother things in our home in December of 2022. We had some issues with him leaving some things un-done and our flooring and painting contractors having to finish these items for us. During the remodel we had him and his team replace an original 20 year old slider in the basement with a new one. By March we started having issues with water coming in through the top of the slider every time it rained. He did send one of his guys out to fix it and he said the flashing was not done correctly and he put a bunch of caulking in above the door. This was a temporary bandaid. For the next month and a half the problem got worse and worse with water going from dripping in to gushing in. We reached out several times to have him correct the issue since it had never leaked with the old slider and either received an argumentative reply that is was not his fault and must be our deck or a window or no response at all. He showed up today un-announced entering into our back yard and deck pulling on the siding prior to knocking on our door. He then proceeded to pull the siding off in anger while telling us that the leak was from the deck being built onto the siding. (Side note, we have had several other contractors and a home inspector come out and ensure that our deck was NOT built incorrectly and is indeed up to code. A call to the city inspector proved this as well.) He proceeded to call us Cheap Mother F*ers for "trying to go cheap on everything", cuss us out and storm off. We paid 1 Stop General Contracting $45,000 for a basement reno, a hall bath reno, and cutting out part of a wall in our kitchen. And that was WITHOUT having them do our flooring or painting as we already had other companies lined up for that. We currently have a contractor here fixing David's mistake as the flashing did not adhere correctly and he did not put ANY framing around the slider leaving an inch gap for water to enter in through. He put nails into NOTHING! We have documented all of these items and will be taking this further.

You would think that an honest person would admit that they were wrong and give you your deposit back, since they did not fulfill their end of the bargain. Not Jason, he kept the 25% and was a real jerk about it. Do yourself a favor and don't get involved!!

The fine craftsmanship of a custom window install by Maris Home Improvements:…read more -Two windows Maris replaced on back of house where no eave is present had window wrap caulked to siding and no aluminum rain caps. Caulk failed prior to first heavy rain. -Slider on back of house also lacked an aluminum rain cap and caulk when payment was requested for a completed job. I called and Maris came out and caulked. No capping on slider. -"Installation includes all caulking/aluminum capping-where needed" is stated on the Maris contract. -First heavy rain 3 weeks after install I had heavy water running down the sheathing and interior foundation wall below one window where caulk failed, and wrap was catching water. -Maris paid for Servpro water remediation to dry up the water and do a flood cut after I requested it. Maris and I agreed to have Alside's warranty contractor detail and repair all the issues from my install in April 2024. See after picture of the water intrusion window where an aluminum rain cap was never installed. Window was taped.
