I have no doubt that Javier is a good parts installer, but unfortunately I cannot recommend his services to anyone after dealing with him. I had known working mid to high end PC that I wanted to swap out the CPU and GPU with updated models. I've made many PCs before, but I ran into issues. I couldn't get it to post. After a month or so I lost faith in myself, which was the worst possible decision I could've made. I decided to bring it to JK Techs, thinking a man claiming to have 20+ years of experience would be better than gambling with Geek Squad, or taking it far away to someone else. I paid his diagnostic fee, which was admittedly cheap. However when he seemed to run out of ideas the computer would sit for weeks and weeks, while he complained about having other customers to work on. I get it, he needs to make money somewhere to keep the doors open, and time for parts shipments, but as time went on nothing much seemed to happen at all. I noticed it was difficult to reach the front desk. Some of my texts where unanswered and almost every time I called they would never pick up. Luckily I live within a few blocks but some of you may not be so fortunate. Eventually I had grown tired. Me and my Micro Center buddies had a lot of time to think. I decided I wanted machine back, and I picked it up the next day. At the end of my day I decided to take a look at it. I noticed immediately the unmistakable shine of not 1, but 2 bent pins in my CPU socket. At this point I was so frustrated. I did not want to go back, and I had experience with bent pins, so I documented the damage before attempting to fix it. I bent one back successfully, but upon further investigation a leg of the remaining pin was sheared, thus making irreparable trash. The next day I resolved to at least try to go there. I was graced with the presence of Javier, who doesn't seem to be there much. I showed him the bent pins. I explained to him that my board had no such bent pins before I gave it to him, which he tried to blame me for. He refused to accept the probability that they were bent in the store. I pointed out that a minute earlier that he claimed he would've noticed such a problem. Backed into a corner, he claimed he could try and bend the pins back, which I explained was impossible. He denied my request to replace the board so I walked out, I didn't know what else to say. A call a few minutes later made everything clear to me. He said if I brought the board to him maybe we could work something out. He went on talking about how he lost money. That is not my problem, you decide your fee. If you cannot afford to work on it anymore then tell the customer. I would've paid for more diagnostic time but we are well past that now. Even though he very well may honor me with a new board, I refuse to accept it. I am beyond frustrated, and my trust is broken. If he was honest with me from the beginning this would be a much different story, but that is not the world we live in. read more

Do not use JK Techs. They broke my laptop and will not admit it. I've never before had to leave a negative review for technical services but people should know that if they break part of your computer they will not admit it. I made an extensive mistake when I trusted them. I had a laptop with damage to one hinge and a crack in the case near that hinge. When I dropped it off the computer was working, it had only physical damage to the case. After the hinge broke I opened the lid just enough for me to power it down from the Windows menu using the internal trackpad. My sons watched me do this. The frame next to part of the screen had a crack but the screen was working normally. I dropped it off with them to get an estimate. When they called me back they told me that the entire laptop was broken. They had opened it, taken the components out and tried them in another customer's computer and they told me the memory was dead, the screen was dead, the hard drive, etc. 1: I didn't give permission for them to put my components in another person's computer 2: It does not make any sense that a computer that was shut down in a normal way would have multiple unrelated internal components suddenly break. I can only conclude that they cased additional damage while opening the case. I'm an IT professional with 15+ years experience. The only part of a laptop I don't repair myself is damage to the case. The reason why I did not open the case is because I am aware of how easy it is to damage a screen while opening a broken case. If you have experience with IT you will know that a cracked frame does not typically damage multiple internal components not near the damage in the frame. read more

Javier was great! My laptop screen started glitching a few months after I let my AppleCare expire and Apple wanted to charge me a ridiculous amount to replace it. He gave me a very reasonable quote and replaced the screen in less than 24 hours. Now it works as good as new! Our computer was overrun with spyware, and refused to work, and after the insane prices of the Geek Squad ($70 for diagnostic, flat $200 for virus removal of any kind), and Hudson Valley IT ($100/hr avg. minimum of 2 hrs) we were at our wits end until happening upon the website of JK Tech Solutions. It was too good to be true. They do business the old fashioned way, the way it should be. They don't charge for diagnostic if you have them do the service. They do absolutely quality work. They are fast, and efficient, and friendly too. I can't say enough about the experience we just had. I, too, would give 6 starts if possible! One day, my laptop made that sound that says you've unplugged from power supply. I THOUGHT is was just my old ratty power cord finally got kaput. When the replacement didn't make a difference, I was told by several people(not copmputer pros) that you could not fix it if the problem was "inside." I took it to a local shop to see if it WAS inside, or perhaps the new power cord was bad... They said that the cords both worked, and that if the dc jack was the "cable kind" they could fix, but if the "solder kind" they could not. They said - without any inspection, they thought I had the solder kind. Now - they did not charge me for this. but it turned out, as I learned at JK Tech, it WAS the cable kind, but even so - they could ALSO fix the solder kind! And they quoted a VERY reasonable $20 for part, plus the $59.95diagnostic fee, which would be transferred to cover labor fee. They ordered the dc jack but it didn't do the trick, so they ordered a second one, thinking perhaps the piece they got was bad. The second one didn't fix the problem either, and that the issue must be with the motherboard. Now - I feel very confident that if they put in the new board and it didn't work - I would only be charged that $60 diagnostic. But the good news is that it DID fix the problem, and my computer is now fine! The total charge was $139.95(diagnostic/labor fee and $80 for board). NOBODY I know of works at those prices. TRUSTWORTHY SERVICE AT VERY REASONABLE PRICES. My Macbook Pro stopped working altogether 1/19/17. After spending about 4 hours on the phone with Apple Support just to realize I wasn't going to be able to take the next remedial steps I started looking for local tech support near Rhinebeck. Javier was the first person to return my call and the only one able to help. I was in his Hopewell office the next day dropping my computer off for a new hard drive. Unable to get back down to his office 40 minutes away, Javier delivered my fixed computer to my home for a nominal fee on the 26th. He charged me no more than he said he would: the cost of the new SSD and his very reasonable labor for installing it. Everything worked well. For a day. Even though the glitch turned out to be the brand new SSD which was outside of his control, Javier assumed responsibility of the situation and replaced the faulty SSD with a brand new one, at no cost to me. I was and am very grateful to Javier for looking after me. I was able to collect my fixed Mac before leaving the country for several months - hence the delayed review. But now I can testify that my mac has been working perfectly ever since Javier fixed it 5 months ago. When my hard drive died, I took my laptop to JK Techs on the recommendation of a long time client of theirs. From the beginning of our interaction I appreciated their small business customer service. Karen updated me along the way, was honest about what I could expect, and despite my problem happening a week before Christmas, she called with good news the Friday before the holiday to put me at ease. While the data rescue wasn't at that moment complete, it was working! Karen saved all my data. My Sony Vaio Laptop was long overdue to get the jack fixed (it was very shaky and sometimes wouldn´t charge anymore). My husband found JK Tech Solutions on Yelp and called them considering the good (few) reviews they had. At the beginning everything sounded good. They would pick up the laptop in 2 days, fix it (+/- a week) and deliver it back.That was the theory. After a week we had to call the company to ask what´s going on and when they will be ble to fix and deliver the laptop. The female employe said that she fixed the jack but she still can´t charge the laptop and turn it on so she will need a little more time to figure out the problem. Fine, no issues with that. A week later after a few calls, voice messages etc. without any answer from JK Tech Solutions the same lady finaly called us back saying, that she thinks that the motherboard is damaged and that there is nothing more she could do beside saving the data on an external. I already accepted the fact that I´m going to buy a new laptop but then, 2 days later my husband got a call from the company in whick the same worker explined him that my laptop is fine. How?! Well, it turned out that other couple came in with the same laptop/problem and that JK Tech Solutions again wasn´t capable to figure out what the issue is till they realized tht their universal chrging cable that they use to check the laptops was damaged! You will say it´s ok, accidents like that happen but no. I almost lost an expensive, working laptop because someone was too incompetent to check EVERYTHING. After that the same female worker told us that they will charge us only for the service and that she already ordered new cable nd will call us and deliver the laptop as soon they have the new cable. I don´t know where they ordered the cable...I had to wait over a week (again) without any informtion from JK... till one morning I left a very angry voice messge. She called back asking when would it be covenient to bring the laptop. I got my laptop back after over a month. The jack works but it´s still wobbly (I would expect better after such a long time and after paying the full service price). The overall experience with JK Tech Solutions is terrible.
