EXTREMELY UNHAPPY - JMB Plumbing did a reinstall of my toilet, pedestal sink, and tub plumbing In my upstairs bathroom in July 2022. The person they sent to do the work the first time did okay on the toilet (I think), but the sink was not installed as I asked and the tub spout & drain were not installed at all. The sink wiggled on it's base, the tub spout hung there & pulled right off the wall, and the stopper for the tub did not work. It did not drain properly OR stop up the tub completely. When he left, he said not to touch the sink until the next day so the (putty?) could set. He said NOTHING about any trouble installing the tub hardware.
When I discovered the problems the next day, I called the office, to schedule someone come out and fix the sink and tub properly. I was told the owner would come take a look. When the day arrived, he never showed. I called the office, and they said that somehow I was not on their schedule, though she remembered our phone call. I tried to be understanding, because things happen sometimes. She rescheduled me. The owner, Jason, came to the next appointment to look and said obviously the tub installation was not done properly and apologized. He put the spout on properly (I think) and tried to install the plug but couldn't do it. He speculated that maybe something was wrong with the hardware, and he called the manufacturer. He had them send new hardware for the plug. Jason said he fixed the sink and would come back to the tub hardware when I received the hardware from the manufacturer. When I did receive it, I called and scheduled Jason to come back out. I also told them the sink was still wiggling.
I got a call from the office on the day of the appointment that someone with a broken furnace needed help, and Jason couldn't make it. Still trying to be understanding, I graciously accepted that and rescheduled. After all, having no furnace in the winter is more important. The office and Jason had told me several times throughout this process that they were appreciative of how nice I was being about everything. And yes, it WAS winter by this time, and I still didn't have my bathroom working properly.
When THAT day came, they called to say they needed to reschedule me because he couldn't get there. I don't remember why. He came for the next appointment and tried to do the work on the plug, but the new hardware didn't fix the problem. He talked at length with the manufacturer, and when he got off the phone he said they were sending another new plug and he would try again on both the sink and the tub plug when that hardware came in.
Well, it never did. I waited and waited. After some time, I called the office again. She said she had to speak with Jason and call me back. When she called back, she said that Jason could come out again -BUT HE WAS GOING TO CHARGE ME!!!!!!!
I had done NOTHING to inhibit the correct installation of this plumbing. I was there when they didn't bother to show, and I was both understanding and nice about the situation. All I wanted was for my sink not to wiggle and to be able to take a proper bath in my new tub. I told her it was not acceptable that I should have to pay anything further on an installation that they had never completed correctly. She said she would speak to Jason about it again. I have not heard a word from ANYONE at JMB Plumbing since. It has been more than a year since this installation began. I do not recommend JMB Plumbing.
Note: The excuses for them not showing might be in the wrong order, but they all happened. In fact, I think there was an additional time they rescheduled me, but I can't remember why. read more
