Got sick from major mold issue in my condo. A laboratory report on an air sample showed…read moreextraordinary amounts of toxic mold in the air within the condo. Had to throw out furniture because of the problem. Reported the issue to my insurance company. They hired Mr Rockwell to issue an assessment report the mold was "incidental" and needed no (insurance covered) mold Remediation. Meanwhile, the mold in the air was bad enough to force the doctor to prescribe 3 antibiotics to get me past the dark spot on my lungs X-Ray showed. Do not hire him. I doubt he knows what the word "ethic's even means. Just to let you know, another licensed mold remediator came in before Mr Rockwell, after the first mentioned report showed dangerous levels ofold contamination, give me a $17,000 Remediation estimate. Does tell Mr Rockwell's indication to the insurance company (WHO OAID HIM FOR HIS REPORT to deny me benefits of the policy) was at the very least incorrect in his reported assessment that the mold issue was "incidental " only!!?!

First I was quoted a completely different price on both the visit and then asked for the owner Scott Rockwell, that works solo to check with the lab how much it would cost to send them air samples ($30) and tape samples ($20).. because I'm a single mom and haven't worked since my little son was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I made it really clear that i needed prices before i commit to anything because of my financial situation - long story short all of a sudden the $50 home visit that was promised became $104 and the lab charges from the Rockwell statement were now $177 - totaling now from what originally was discussed 2/3 of this price. I decided to call the lab and ask how much they charged for my tests.. they said each air sample was $30 ( i had 2) and my tape sample was $20. Totaling in $80 not $176 as billed plus labor charges that were doubled. When I confronted scott he went on about how it was impossible to quote me those lab prices because apparently my tests were super expensive - lies. My $180 bill grew to $277... he denies this.. also told me if I pay now he will reduce the bill by $100. When I stated that I first wanted an explanation of these new and fabricated charges, he threatened me into collections - next morning I paid my full amount - this guy is a crook. Stay far away from him. Not only is he really unprofessional, he's rude, lacks communication skills and cheats people out of money.

I checked Yelp for a Moving company in Syracuse and ran across First Class Moving and Removal, as we not only needed her belongings moved to a storage unit, but needed all the junk-type stuff taken to the dump. I saw a picture of Shaun and his crew next to a meticulously blanket-covered and wrapped piece of furniture and immediately felt this was a company that truly CARED about people's things and was willing to demonstrate that instead of just making idle boasts. I spoke with Shaun on the phone (I was orchestrating this whole thing from California) and found him to be professional, courteous, and understanding of the need for a kind and helpful approach to this very emotionally charged situation. My sister is elderly and since I couldn't be there in person to oversee the packing and move, I had to rely on trusting my gut from not much more than a few phone calls and texts to get this started. Long story short, Shaun and his crewmember did a FANTASTIC job on all levels. The furniture was completely blanketed and wrapped, the items that were not quite packed were taken care of, and ALL the junk went quickly to the dump. They took pics of the whole process, the packed truck, and the filled storage unit, keeping me updated all along the way. My sister felt safe, supported, and acknowledged. The price was exceptional for what they had to do. They moved quickly to keep the time down and didn't even take a break until it was all done.
