The Beaver Dam Antique Mall just kept going and going and going!…read more The "mall" is comprised of several antique sellers who each have their own little area inside the store. Once you think you are done browsing through all the shops, you notice a set of stairs leading to more finds upstairs and then a third floor! Wow, I could have spent all day here! There are various items from all different time periods and some great deals. I scored a red "train bag" with a 70's style Amtrak button still pinned to the outside. My friends Carolynne and Andy also both found some great stuff. If we had more room in our car, we would have bought some great furniture. I found a cute telephone desk and a writing desk in need of refinishing. Carolynne had her eye on a mammoth set of mail sorting shelves, which would have made a cute bookcase. This will definitely be a stop on our next trip and we'll make sure to rent a U-Haul for all of the great furniture finds.

The few furniture pieces lacked character, and were significantly overpriced for their state of disrepair. It's also super offsetting to walk into a store in small town Beaver Dam and to be asked to lock your purse in a locker. The story gets better. After finally ordering the download I wanted over the phone at the…read moreadvertised price, I thought the problems were solved. Then yesterday, I was looking through my Visa account to make sure there were no odd charges. Whadya know, there's a mystery $28 charge from Nancy's Notions. That was odd, since what I had ordered was $3.99; that charge also appeared on my account. Later in the day, I got a shipping confirmation from them, for something I didn't order, and probably never would have ordered. I called their customer service line this morning. They say they don't keep credit card information for security reasons, so this couldn't have happened. The only thing I can do is refuse the package, and they will eventually credit my account. They did say that they show that the order was placed over the phone; I'm guessing that someone else's order was charged and sent to me. Bottom line - don't ever order anything over the phone. They've really gone downhill over the past few months. If I could find everything I buy from them somewhere else, I would go there.

I have purchased my Serger and one of my favorite machines from them and the service is top notch. I know they have been in transition since the sad passing of Nancy which may explain some of the bad reviews. I only had one bad experience and it was a serger class that I took. The instructor was not someone from the store but the company. I thought there were too many people in the class and the instructor was not prepared enough. I can not blame the store or the girls for that. Do not be afraid to check this store out and purchase products.
