I've been to this store a couple of times and was able to find what I needed each time. The first time I went in search of some galaxy-themed fabric for a pin board I was making. I was able to find two fabrics that were perfect and an employee cut what I needed from the bolts. The wait was a bit long but I just looked at the other fabrics while I waited to be called. I went for the second time this past Wednesday night, about an hour before they closed. My friend had texted me saying that they had the ceramic goose statue that I've been looking for for months and I booked it over there as soon as I could. When I arrived the store was almost empty - I saw one customer walking around (possibly shoplifting actually, as I saw her leave and jump into a double-parked truck that had flashed its brights at me in the parking lot when I arrived...) and one employee who ended up checking me out. The item I bought was 40% off and the employee had said they had been flying off the shelves, which I believe since they're all the craze right now. With the store being so empty, I was surprised to get checked out so quickly. I was in and out in less than five minutes. The employee I checked out with was nice and friendly. The store was clean and quiet (obviously). The parking lot is big and there's a light right next to the store so it's super easy to get in and out of. It's a prime location so I'm surprised I don't see more traffic there over the weekends. read more

The woman behind the fabric counter is SO rude and did NOT help me at all. She answered customers questions walking by before helping me with a ticket number waiting for literally 25 minutes. Then once it was my turn she says "oookayyy...." Like it's an INCONVENIENCE I'm standing there waiting to be helped. How is the training cashier up front more helpful and polite? I had a poor experience at checkout with the customer service person named Shea. He rang up my order which had quite a bit of items in it, and I paid using a card. I then asked for a bag to put them in as I would not have been able to carry them out by hand. He had not asked me previously if I would like a bag. He looked annoyed and said there is a 5 cent charge for a bag because we live in Eugene, and asked if I had a nickel. I said I understand there is a bag charge but I don't have a nickle. When he said I could not have a bag, I asked if he could run my card for the 5 cents if he was not willing to give me a bag for free since he didn't ask me before running my card in the first place if I needed a bag. He charged me card for the bag and then just stood there. I asked if I could have my items placed in the bag that I just paid for and he threw them in quickly acting like I was making him do something that wasn't part of his job. read more

Sometimes the items available are a bit underwhelming but I've had good friendly interactions most every time I've gone in.

I've had trouble with this store in the past, but tonight confirmed to me to take my business elsewhere. The employees just can't be bothered to help you. The check-out line is usually quite long, so be prepared to stand there for awhile. There are a lot of tricks and gimmicks connected to there "coupons and deals." Ordering online with them is not any better. Once I ordered10 different items online with the apparently incorrect assumption that if they are showing it then they have it - wrong! When I went to the curbside pick-up they only had one of the ten items I had ordered and paid for. Having it shipped is no better. My daughter placed a large order and when she got it, almost ALL the beads were broken. Bye-bye Joann's, I for one will not be at all surprised when you too go out of business. I went into the Springfield store the other day and was looking for some fabric. I found something I liked. It was one of those trips where you aren't sure exactly what you're looking for until you find it, then you want to jump up and down because it's perfect. Anyway, I had that happen, but the Springfield store didn't have enough fabric for my project. They found the Eugene store had more. My first thought was, they have a Eugene store? Where the hell is it? I had no idea. So using the magic of Yelp, I found it, and had the ah-ha moment when I found it. The location used to be some sort of store like Video Only back in the day, and then it was a Halloween supply store for a few years, and then apparently it became permanently occupied by JoAnn. Cool, always good to check out new locations. I didn't exactly have high hopes for the store, given I'm not a fan of the Springfield store. But, I knew they had more of the fabric I wanted than the other store. I went in, and found the fleece section. The first thing I noticed was that the store is bigger than the Springfield location, and seems to have far better stuff, and more of a back stock too. I wandered a bit, as my mother had made a suggestion of changing up my design of my project a bit. Like, doing the original color I wanted on one side, and like a solid grey on the other. This was not only because they didn't have enough for my entire project, but it was to give it some contrast/depth to it. I loved the idea, and proceeded to browse. I actually found the exact same material I wanted, but in grey tones to it. That was even better than the solid grey idea/plan. I'm getting more and more excited as we go! So I have both bolts of fabric, and then mom manages to talk me into another project. Every damn time she comes up with an idea, it means more work for me. I encountered the same thing with my home remodel. Loved her ideas, but they cost me a lot. So we find more fabric for another project and proceed to have it cut. This would be where we met Myrtle. She was a sweet and very patient older lady. I had what felt like a million items for her to cut, and some of them large amounts too. She was absolutely patient and helpful. She scanned the barcodes to make sure she had enough product to meet my large demands, she told me the regular and sale prices before she started cutting on them. After that, I asked her to print some on one ticket and some on another, as mom was buying part of it and I was buying the other. You would think she'd be tired of me and all my requests to her. Nope, she's more than happy to help and do it right the first time. I'm sure there were a few people stuck behind me who hated me and all of the stuff I was having Myrtle cut, but she acted like I was the only customer in the store. I would bet she treats every customer standing in front of her exactly like that, as it seems like her personality. They've got a gem in that woman, and she helped impress me! I then wandered around the rest of the store to really check out what they had, and find some thread as well. I really liked this store. It seems bigger, and just a happier place to go. Like, there's life in this store. The Springfield location is just depressing and boring, and it seems geared toward old people. This one was a brighter and happier place to go. I actually enjoyed it. I was kind of amazed at the difference. Even my mother noticed it, and she isn't really a fan of these kind of stores since she doesn't sew or crochet. Would I return? Absolutely! In fact, I was so impressed, I am willing to drive from Springfield to this store, which is farther away versus going to the one in Springfield. I've only gone to this location maybe four times and at least three of those times I've had the rudest checkout clerks ever! I bought local Oregon wine for my brother's birthday. The only problem is that he lives in New York. I needed to get the wine home in my suitcase without it breaking. I went to a couple different wine stores in search of the hard cardboard wine tubes. No one had any of them. I remembered a couple years back I needed the same thing and only a craft store had them. Before heading over to Joann's I called up to make sure that they had them. I spoke to a nice man on the store and he said they had plenty of them. I got to the store and he wasn't kidding they had holiday and spring themed ones. The spring ones were 40% off and on top of that I had a 25% off my whole purchase coupon. It was a steal!!! I got 5 wine tubes for 11 bucks!!! I was super happy with Joann's. Now I know whenever I need wine tubes, I can just go straight here. read more

Okay so I called ahead to get a feel for if they had the fleece print I was looking for so I could make a blanket for my dad for his birthday. It was last minute as I called on Friday night and his birthday was Sunday. I was told that they had it and that it was on sale for $11.99. I zoomed over there since I had all of 40 minutes before they closed. Went in and found the fleece I wanted and the fabric was not only EXTREMELY soft (more so than normal fleece) but the print was fantastic!!! So I go to find the solid backing for the anti-pill for the back of the blanket. NOT MUCH SELECTION... booooooooooooo and the red was NOT good. So I asked someone and she immediately jumped into action and went into the back to look at freight. She explained to me that the freight had not been unpacked. Initially she asked me to come back in a few days but I explained the situation and she said that she would look for me. I went to the cutting area to get the Navy fleece cut for me. The gal who cut it said ok so here is your total and gave me a total that reflected a price higher than $11.99/yd. So I questioned it -- she said no it is $13.69/yd. I explained that I had called in and the gal who ran to the back from me came out right then and told her it was $11.99/yd and that there was a sign and she had been the one to tell me on the phone. So that was adjusted. Then she showed me another red fleece for the backing but I decided to go with a solid grey. The cut everything for me and gave me the corrected pricing. Overall this location was EXTREMELY helpful and friendly even though we were the last customers of the night. The Assistant Manager is a GEM! I went here several times through the Holiday season to get fleece, and a few other items for gifting. I had really never been to this location since they have moved here. I was actually kind of disappointed in the selection in crafting goods they have. I personally would rather go else where that has a larger selection. I only kept going back out of convenience to be honest, because the first day I came in the staff was really rude. I was happy with the sales prices on the fleece for blankets, so I went back several more times. It was hit or miss with customer service. There were some that were very pleasant to deal with, and others I could go with out their ba hum bug attitudes. One lady in particular I felt bad for was really sweet, was in the middle of cutting fabric for me, she was afraid to go over her time because she didn't want to get yelled at by management. She said all of them get in trouble like that. This was in the middle of the Holidays. I get they probably don't want to over pay their staff, but my goodness...their staff shouldn't be that nervous! And shouldn't have to trade people in the middle of a customer like that! Highly disappointed in that. Not sure how I feel about being a returning customer. I might go back, but it might be a while. They really don't have that great of selection, and the things that are not on sale are very high priced! read more

When you take on a customer service position, it's key that you actually like people. I called and spoke with a woman who was rude and annoyed from start-to-finish. My call was simply to ask if my husband could pick-up my online order for me. Very simple question. When he arrived to pick it up, he informed me that the woman who helped him was extremely rude and made a nasty remark about his name not being on the order when it was placed online. To the manager of Joann Fabrics on Green Acres, I think it's time to look at your staff and make some adjustments. That is, if you intend on continuing to have customers. One bad experience can have a ripple effect, especially when there are plenty of places to purchase fabric online. read more

The new store is fantastic! Bright & clean, and very well organized. Their cutting table no longer requires one to wait in a never-ending line, instead you take a number and continue to browse & shop. Parking is more easily found, and the line for the cash registers is set up in a way that keeps the line moving. The employees were nice & helpful, even on a busy Saturday afternoon! Super understaffed and not very helpful. I went in looking for macrame cord, and after not being able to find it I went to check out for my other item and asked where it was. The ONE cashier, obviously flustered, told me non-descriptively that it was in jewelry making. I proceeded to look for another twenty minutes, but to no luck. I couldn't find a single person on the sales floor so I went to the place where they cut fabric and asked a girl who was cutting something where it would be. Her answer was "I don't know. Come back another day it's probably in a box somewhere." I understand that it was busy, but lack of friendliness and lack of staff is not acceptable (this is coming from someone who works in retail!) I love to shop for fabrics, but I need to use a scooter to get around the store and since I don't own one I can only shop where they are available to the public. I think that for stores without them it says to larger people or disabled people that they don't want our business. They offer a weelchair, but if you are like me you won't use it as someone else may need it more. Also, don't bother shopping online for their fabric cause if you only need a yard of something the least you can buy online is 2 yards. If you want a higher rating make your stores accessible to everyone...not just those who can walk. read more

Sometimes a project just needs a trip to Jo-Ann Fabrics, but this store is always so unpleasant. Every time I go I'm amazed at how unhappy the employees are. I've never had fabric cut by someone who wasn't rude or had a bad attitude. It doesn't matter how polite you are, the staff will treat you like a huge inconvenience. I've also noticed that a large number of shoppers here seem miserable as well, which is really odd. Sometimes I come across diy craft ideas through Pinterest and 1/10 times I actually get off my lazy bum and do them. Yay go me! So I purchased some mugs and headed off to JoAnn's for some oil based paint sharpies. I found what I was looking for but it took three sales associates for one to point me in the right direction! The first worker I asked pointed at the paint sign across the store and said "over there" and walked away. She didn't give me enough time to tell her I was just there. So I go back and look a second time. The second worker once again said "paint stuff should be in the paint aisle". I told her that I couldn't find it and she said she didn't know, then quickly turned to a different customer beside her. Seriously it can't be that hard. If you don't know where something is take the initiative and find out. That's good customer service. I'm completely miffed at this point and start walking out the store. But I spot a third worker in the corner of my eye and decide third time's the charm. She tells me that the sharpies I'm looking for are at the front of the store in the display. Finally! After that my mood was somewhat lifted until I got in line to check out. As I waited I had a great chat with the other 6 customers in line about the terrible service we each received. Probably one of my new favorite stores in Eugene, I was dazzled by the wide selection of craft supplies. There were quite a bit of good sales going on, the best being the sale on clearance fabrics, so 2 huge bags of supplies came out to just under $50. I also got 5 scented hand soaps for $5, what a bargain! The cashier was very friendly and helpful, so overall, I had a blast on my visit here! read more

So, I love this place. I'm a cross-stitcher... probably the only one left in the world... and they carry tons of patterns, thread and fabric when most fabric and craft stores don't. I totally geek out in the cross-stitch section and love every second of it. Also, the staff is very helpful and friendly and they all seem to enjoy working there which is always nice to see. Also, they have a wide selection of other cute things for the home... I love their liquid hand soaps. And the prices are very reasonable. read more

This store is the new site for the JoAnn's that had been on River Road in Eugene, OR. A very nice selection of fabrics and crafts. I have however found that the craft products that I have bought are often substandard in quality. Their return policy for defective items without a receipt is the same as a regular return. They give you store credit for the lowest price that item has sold for during the last six months. That is what I was told by the salesperson/cashier and the Manager. It has been my experience in Retail that when a store is sold a defective product they return the product to the vendor/company that has sold the defective product to the store. The store suffers no loss or penalty. They need to revisit this policy and adopt a more consumer friendly policy. Meanwhile I will plan ahead and go to Salem when I can. Hancock Fabrics accepts competitor's coupons like JoAnn's as well as their own so, I benefit form both ads at Hancock Fabrics. and they have been more responsive to my questions and concerns. read more
