I had been using retinol serums (both over the counter and prescription) for years but the redness and skin irritation from the retinoids wasn't resulting in any significant positive improvements. During my consultation, Masami explained the process, showed before and after photos (anonymous) and discussed her credentialing. (Note that she is conveniently located in Waikiki in an urgent care clinic - the room she uses is extremely private.) She did not oversell her services or products - she was very matter-of-fact, discussed my responsibility (sunscreen and hats!), and was extremely knowledgeable concerning skin care (and she has absolutely gorgeous skin btw!). She was clear that I would need to come every couple of weeks for 7+ treatments to see good results. I've just completed visit 8 with Masami. My treatment includes a laser treatment of my face followed by a Vitamin C treatment. I also have the tops of my hands treated with the laser. The visit lasts approximately one hour. The room is pleasant, soothing music plays and the treatment is so painless I tend to drift off (a nice afternoon nap with benefits!). My skin is not red or painful when finished - I can immediately run errands, etc. I am seeing good, gradual results - my skin is definitely smoother, my spots are lightening, and the lines are diminishing. Masami takes photos at every session so we can track and assess progress at the beginning of each session. After finishing my first 7 sessions, I signed up for a second set of 7 - the progress is gradual but it is pleasant (and easy!) progress for me - NO reddening, peeling, irritation, chemical injections, etc. I now use only soap to wash my face (inexpensive powder soap recommended by Masami) as well as a high-grade petroleum jelly on my face if any moisture is needed (also recommended by Masami) - no more expensive products or dermatologist visits, etc. Seriously. They have you place lidocaine on a popsicles stick so you can put on yourself either in the waiting room or the bathroom/ how turn and burn is that? You'd think with HIPPA they would give you some privacy and anonymity. 3. Roughly 2 years ago give or take, they went through a number of nursing and support staff, they gave me double the amount of GLp that I was being prescribed. I know this for a fact as I am fully aware (now) of dosing and measurements. I was scarred at the injection site, had huge side effects and they took no accountability; rather they blamed me. (Use IVIM or HERS) When I asked the first time they told me I didn't understand how they added b-12 and other things to the formula so the dosage was always different -nope!!! They had to many staff in and out. And they completely dropped the ball between pass offs from the person who checked with me, the second nurse who gave me the vials, then the dad who had me pay- all in the same room with glass case and the payment desk. 4. When addressing the 2 scars they did 2 microneedling sessions (about 10 minutes) and amber thought 2 -3 more would probably take care of it, but wanted me to pay for the sessions out of pocket. I was told that there must have been a misunderstanding on my part and that I was told Botox units. Even though I was Sure I clarified the dose and pricing prior to injection. The women continued to repeat herself over and over in a rude manner stating there was nothing she could do and that technically I was given $5 a unit but for 60 units not 20. So beware they dose in Botox units no matter which product they provide to you and even if you clarify the price and dosing they will change it on you before you check out. This is deception marketing. This strategy is to confuse you and require you to do the math at bedside to figure out your actual cost. Huge disappointment. Extremely embarrassing situation that they exploited. This is suppose to be a treat.
