When reaching out about a probate matter, I was referred to Cherika Edwards. I called seeking legal advice and was unsure how best to handle the matter. I was told it was a $250 consultant fee. The reception assured me that it goes towards the legal cost but didn't ask if I couldn't use a lawyer for legal services when that money was refunded. I was unsure if I needed the benefits and what the cost would be to represent on behalf of a mother who didn't have a will. The lawyer contacted me, and we spoke for 10 minutes only to tell me it was $4000 for representation--that $25 minutes money I don't have due to the planning of my mother's funeral. What I found out after research most lawyers don't charge a consultation fee. Her website doesn't state that a $250 payment is associated with the consultation. The worse part is I emailed the office to least ask for half my money back or get an explanation; of course, no response. So unless you are sure to use Ms. Edwards's services, I would consult with other lawyers about legal matters for free for the initial consultation. This issue people have with lawyers is they are more interested in making money than serving their clients, and this is true and how I felt in regards to her practice. Go with another lawyer who won't take advantage of you and give you the option and a feel of what it would be like to represent you.

One Star Review We…read morefound Richard after searching extensively online for an attorney. He had a couple of good reviews (which is rare for attorneys), and at first, he seemed like the right choice. He came across as very nice, professional, and capable of handling our complex case. Unfortunately, everything went downhill after we paid him--upfront and even more than he originally asked for. From that point forward, Richard became dismissive, arrogant, and unresponsive. He constantly shut down my wife, ignored or failed to read our emails, and treated us with a cocky attitude. Despite the fact that we were supposed to be on the offensive, he left us feeling like we were always on the defensive. Even when the opposing side acted blatantly against the law, Richard said and did nothing. The most shocking issue was that Richard actually negotiated with the opposing counsel without our knowledge or consent and even sent us an email documenting decisions he made without our approval. That was completely unacceptable and a betrayal of trust. After reviewing our billing, we realized we had billed us over $22kwhile he did very little to help us. On top of that, he came up with excuses, including health reasons, to explain his lack of work. We later discovered through the state bar that Richard had previously lost his license for similar misconduct with another client--something we wish we had known before hiring him. To make matters worse, Richard seemed to work in sync with the opposing attorney, running up our legal bills while accomplishing nothing. We ended up having to write our own rebuttals for him, as he refused to execute even the basics. He was consistently rude to my wife, gave us the wrong advice, and ignored critical points in our case. In total, we invested over $22,000 in Richard, only to be left with no real progress and the need to hire a new attorney to start over. We will be submitting our experience and documentation to the state bar for review. Richard is a one-man show with no staff, no support, and no accountability. He does not listen, does not care, and does not fight for his clients once he gets paid. This has been one of the most disappointing and costly experiences of our lives. Avoid Richard completely. I do not recommend Roger G Jain associates and specifically Renae Mundis-Mitchum. She quoted me around 5k - 7k for a contested divorce. She charged for every little thing while I did most of the work and digging and contesting. She ended up charging over 13k for a very simple divorce. She did not fight for me and even referred another lawyer, (more competent than her to my now ex-husband) who overpowered Renae, and thus, my ex was awarded more than he should have gotten. She did not fight back against the other lawyer and was pretty quiet during mediation and didn't give a fight or arguments, getting answers out of her was like pulling teeth sometimes and quite rudely too. I am not happy with Roger G Jain Assoc or Renae. Too bad I didn't find out more about Renae before from people/attorneys before, seems feelings mutual about her. .
