So let me tell you about how UNPROFESIONAL this worker Juan is. First of all, today, 4/27/26 he…read moretexted my partner and I on the group chat saying that he is coming at 10:00 am when last week we agreed 09:00 am. I HAVE TEXTS OF THIS ATTACHED. I initially was flexible and just accepted that this guy was gonna be late. I TRIED TO BE UNDERSTANDING. HOWEVER, I needed to set boundaries so that IT DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. I had told him that it wasn't okay that he didn't commit to the time we agreed on which was 09:00. He apologized then went on to say that he wears many hats on this job, that he does a lot of the roles but that it wasn't an excuse. He also said that he's only been doing this for 6 months. Mind you, my partner and I gave this guy a chance to work for us, even with less experience! So just cos we gave him a chance, that doesn't mean we don't expect professionalism in all aspects! THEN, after I paid him $90 he didn't proceed to remind me of the landscaping measurements that were supposed to be taken LIKE WE AGREED ON OUR PHONE CALL LAST WEEK. He was supposed to measure the area in the backyard where the mulch was going to be exchanged for black rocks. He planned on doing this after finishing the yard maintenance BUT GUESS WHAT? When I called him he says, "You seemed very upset and was walking away so I wanted to give you your space." HELLO YOU ARE A MANAGER AND ALSO THE ONE DOING THE YARDWORK SO YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO COMPLETE YOUR JOB AND TELL ME THE MEASUREMENTS!!! NO MATTER HOW UPSET A CUSTOMER IS! He then tells me that he can do the measurements after my errand instead, LIKE UHM... FIRST OF ALL JUAN YOU ALREADY SHOWED UP AT A LATER TIME LAST MINUTE THEN U EXPECT ME TO JUST HAVE YOU IN MY BACKYARD AT A LATER TIME ON THE SAME DAY?! WHEN YOU SHOULD'VE DONE THE MEASUREMENTS WHILE YOU WERE HERE ALREADY. REGARDLESS OF HOW UPSET I WAS! YOU SIGNED UP FOR THIS JOB! After all this, I told Juan that we no longer need him to work for us. And THEN hahaha he proceeds to address himself and anyone that does yard work as "servants," on the text he sent my partner and I. WE NEVER EVER EVEN CALLED HIM THAT NOR DID WE EVER THINK OF HIM AS THAT. HE IS PLAYING VICTIM! ATTACHED ARE THE SCREENSHOTS OF THE TEXTS!!!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS GUY. HE WILL TRY TO PLAY VICTIM AND TURN THE MISTAKES ON YOU LOL WHEN I'M JUST THE CUSTOMER PAYING HIM!

Second, you'll be working with Everton, the owner. That makes communication easier - he's not always on site, but responds quickly when you reach out. In our case, it was a good size project: demolishing a concrete patio, installing a new drain system, two sets of steps, adjacent to a pool, and with a narrow alley access (no truck to the back yard). It took a little longer than expected, but the final result was worth it. The demo crew was efficient, neat, and worked safely. The prep crew spent a good deal of time installing the drain system, note the photo of the tie-in to the downspout - that was not in the proposal, but they felt it was the way to go. Too, they spent hours grading and leveling to insure the base was prepped correctly. The install crew took their time, and I was really pleased with the detail of the odd cuts required - see the angles and corners. As well, when I mentioned it, Everton made a special order to get grey drains for me (see photos), as they just looked better with the paver we chose (stock is black). The install crew even ripped up a section to install an additional drain right below the downspout for the patio cover I was having another contractor install. No one asked them to do that - they just felt it was the right thing to do. It's the extra details like these I feel set them apart.
