What's not to love about a liquor store that is fully stocked with beers and spirits and wines? We stopped in late in the day to pick up some "thinking beverages" to bring back to the apartment to make our work go better. ZERO STARS! The rudest clerk ever. If you don't like your job, LEAVE and let someone who wants to work have it. Three customers in line and clerk no where to be seen. One customer has to go find him. He is rude, dismissive and didn't even thank the two customer's ahead of me. I will gladly go elsewhere. read more

Every time I come in to this store to people behind the register have been nothing but rude. Came here once two years ago, same experience and another time recently same exact experience. You can tell they don't even care about their customers, no greeting what's so ever. They could care less about the money and business you give them. I do not recommend this establishment. read more

Of all the wine and liquors stores that are within walking distance from where we live in the West End, we always shop at Jobi Liquors. This family owned store has the one thing that I value the most in any wine shop-- an owner that really knows her wines. More often than not, the owner, Dorothy Ryan has recommended wines to us that were exactly what we wanted for any occasion. An uncorked bottle of wine is a mystery waiting to unfold. There is simply no way to know if any bottle of wine will be right for any meal, without opening the bottle and tasting the wine. This is why I value a knowledgeable wine merchant, such as Dorothy Ryan, as much as I do. Her many recommendations have saved me from wasting my money on wines that were destined to disappoint. For this and many other reasons, such as great prices, friendly service and a willingness to order wines and liquors for us whenever asked, we always shop at Jobi Liquors. read more

I have to give this place some credit. In addition to having a decent amount of hard liquor, they're the only liquor store in the Beacon Hill area to stock Beck's Premier Light. It's the 64 calorie beer that isn't that bad! I have to give some credit for that. Simply put, if you're on that side of the Hill (near The Red Hat and Suffolk), it's definitely a good option to explore for beer, wine, or harder stuff. Upgrading to 4 stars due to really friendly service. I've been back probably 5 times or so since my initial review and felt like the last few times the employees made a much better effort to be friendly and cheerful. A woman even gave me free glasses from Kettle One one night. Beer selection seems to get better every time I go. I actually will walk to extra distance to Jobi's over the much closer BWX. The latter location I've found has much worse service as the employees often act like you don't exist. read more

I was arranging a trip to Boston for 150 of my closest friends. I live in Florida and wanted to have the alcohol ready to go. I called and spoke with a wonderful guy named Jim. I told him my little dilemma and he said no problem - he'd be happy to help. He set me up and steered me right with a good selection of wine and beer and told me he'd have everything iced down and ready to go. He even offered to deliver it to our hotel but we were boarding a party bus so I told him I'd have the driver stop by to pick it up. It couldn't have been easier! The service here was amazing when I came in for the first time, they made me feel like a regular! Their wine selection is the best I've seen in the city and that's pretty hard to do! The owner is always in and always assists me when I'm looking for a new drink to spice things up! Even when he was on crutches he came from behind the counter and helped me look for a beer my friends and I had been looking for in EVERY store, of course I knew Jobi's would have it. Somewhat small. Not a huge selection. But by far the best prices in Beacon Hill. I was out one night looking for a particular bottle of whiskey. Since I had some time on my hands I went to 2 places on Charles Street and 2 on Cambridge Street. Jobi has prices 10% lower than the other three. Friendly and down to earth staff. What more is there to say? If you're looking for the basics in booze don't go anywhere else but Jobi. read more

I love this place SO much. The service is super super friendly, especially the owners. I make it a point to go here for everything and only visit other places for small specialty items and beers they do not carry. If I had trusted my first impressions of this place upon walking in the door, I probably would have walked out again just as fast. For being a stone's throw away from Beacon Hill's best, the overall appearance reminded me of a little place in Jamaica Plain I once visited before a party (small, dirty, unpretentious, and a bunch of "neighborhood" guys lounging behind the counter looking like they just walked in off the street). But I'm made of sturdier stuff than that, so I boldly marched onwards. And to my infinite surprise, the selection they offered is probably second (a very low second, albeit) to Charles Street Liquors. The back room has a large variety of wines from all the major regions, and they had a convenient shelf of cocktail mixers like Vermouth and bitters in the hallway (this is what I'd originally come for, so I was a happy man already). The beer selection looked more generic, but they had all the bare necessities. I'm pretty sure I got a weird look for only buying cocktail mixers and no hard liquor, but the guy didn't card me and I was out of there without any hassle, so I can't really complain. read more

I'm not sure what it says about it me that I'm reviewing a liquor store, but I like this place. The people working are always friendly and willing to help you find something. The selection is OK, nothing too expansive, but it gets the job done. Prices are higher than outside the city, but they are comparable to other stores in the area. read more

LOVE Jobis! Newly living in the area, I wanted to find somewhere that I would be able to find all of my favorites from home at while not going too far. A friend recommended Jobis to me so I gave it a try and I'm so glad I did. When I called and asked if they had a certain vodka available, the owner was so nice and had it ordered in for me the next day. When I went in to pick it up, I was greeted kindly behind the man behind the counter and he immediately helped me get what I came for in, and also had a TON of knowledge about the many wine selections that were available. I don't know a lot about wine, and he helped me pick out a good price wine to give as a gift. Great service, options, and experience. Highly recommend read more
