Tender, and no raw dough! Drizzled with maple syrup. The waffles themselves stood on their own with good flavor, but the sweet/hot connection was excellent! Music more appropriate for cocktail hour played while the food booths were open and people socialized. But at 8:30, the lights turned down and a full show of musicians entertained until closing. Parker Wheeler, known from his Sunday night residency at the Grog in Newburyport hosted A-list musicians. Myrtle, which I think is one of the coolest bars I've ever seen (it has its own in-house boutique!) was packed this morning. They served a $15 brunch which looked great but, since I had just eaten breakfast, I chose to forego and enjoyed a delicious Irish coffee ($12) instead. This might be my go-to bar from now on. After the lesson, the studio turned into an open dance featuring live music from Chelsea Reed and the Fairweather Five, an amazing swing band from Philadelphia! The floor was jumping and everyone was having a blast cutting a rug. I personally asked to dance with several people and was surprised to find how gracious and encouraging they were in accepting and subsequently dancing with my square self. The dancers here are very courteous and interested in the improvement of everyone in the club. The snacks and water were provided in copious amounts. The community is strong in this one.
