My friend went to Blue Ocean Music Hall night before last. She has #Parkinsons disease.The person taking tickets and assigning seats (40ish, brown shoulder-length hair) refused to let my friend sit in the closest open seat, because the owners or their friends "might" decide to come in and use it. She assigned my friend a seat all the way across the crowded venue. My friend asked if she could pull a chair up and sit down, and the manager told her no. In fact, one of the first things she said to my friend was, "If you're handicapped, how did you get in here?" My friend, who's in her 70s, walks with a cane and was afraid to traverse the venue in the dark, because of trip hazards. She stood on a ramp for 2 HOURS, holding onto a railing. This staff member stood 10 feet behind her. When my friend asked her for her name, she said, "I'm not going to tell you." And when my friend was leaving, this woman called after her, "Goodnight! Thanks for coming!" Little fact for you: my friend was in the music business for 30 years, and handled the biggest clients and their money when women were generally relegated to sex objects. She founded famous music venues! She put up with a lot and deserves your respect. This woman by her web image seems to be general manager. She's definitely someone who can fire people, because another staff member was afraid (!) to help my friend for fear of losing their job. Blue Ocean Music Hall, you need a new general manager. She's an ADA lawsuit waiting to happen and has no empathy, graciousness, professionalism or sense of hospitality. She behaved like a straight up bigot and has no business working with the public. Obviously, she knows this, or she would have offered her name like a professional. Do better. read more

It was a fun place to see a show even though it was the coldest day of the year. I'm sure seeing a show here during the summer is a lot nicer. Not such a great area, but they had some nice restaurants kind of cool venue tough on parking. read more

We went last night. Security was very rude. My sister forgot her phone in the car, they said if she left to get it, there is no re-entrance! Seriously at 60 years old being told you can't get your phone and return. A bit out of control. A cup of trail mix at $10.75. What happened to customer service and being KIND? This venue has really gone downhill in the past few years. The seats are more cramped then they need to be, the staff is rude (at least during Lotus Land On 10/14/23), and the bars are woefully not kept. The only decent beer on tap (Sam Adams) ran out 15 minutes after the set started. Budweiser, Bud Light, Miller Lite, Corona, and Heineken? Hey, how about revamping your selection to something that wasn't served in the 80's? The acoustics are okay, and the windows facing the ocean are nice, but it's not nearly enough for me to return. Good venue for a show but lousy chairs. Im not overweight or huge but the chairs are uncomfortable. Many people seemed uncomfortable or were constantly shifting in their seats. The poor obese lady in front of me kept holding her back with both arms and sitting back on her arms to alleviate her discomfort. This venue could be so much better if everyone was comfy. Intimate crowd experience is nice. Security seemed hostile towards patrons waiting for their group using the restrooms after the show. read more

Saw Entrain and deSol yesterday at Blue Ocean Music Hall- bands were awesome ! Haven't been to this venue prior to Covid. Boy have things changed! Horrible Customer Service & Staff from... Security, Parking Lot Attendant, Bartenders- especially Bartenders! Service and staff not only rude with major attitude but downright offensive. This was not something that I just experienced but other people at our table who I never met before shared the same experience. I will think hard and twice before going back to this venue- its a shame since its close and easy to get in and out. read more

What a terrific venue. I have attended many public events there and always enjoy the events with my guests. My companies Newburyport Bank and River Run Bancorp have held many corporate events (over 600 people) and business meetings from (10-75 people). the space(s) are great, the views amazing, the food terrific, and the staff and management are spectacular! Went Saturday night and had a great time. From the moment we entered the place it was a warm welcome. The staff was great from reggie who gave us our tickets to the nice woman who showed us to our table Mrs dellilo. I know i got the name wrong lol and laureen our bartender. The place was very clean and the set up is awesome. Like others have said every seat is very good. We had table 79. 2 bars if your not lazy to get up and get your own drink. Table service. Smoking area outside. Parking is right nxt door. We will def go again read more

The place is OK. We went for a concert and the place was hot, stuffy and little smelly. The table service was slow and the bar was busy. Drinks are expensive, the fishbowl was a joke with one shot of coconut rum and cranberry juice. The acoustics were OK, not the place you want to go for a great sound. Parking isn't included, you have to go to a lot off site and pay. The place is OK but not my choice for concerts. read more

I love this venue for music. The cabaret seating ensures that there isn't a bad seat in the house. It's an intimate setting so if you like to feel like the artist is sitting in your living room then this is perfect. If you're looking for dinner and a show then eat elsewhere first. There are no culinary masterpieces here. It's cold chips and mediocre sandwiches at best. Go full or go hungry. read more

I was happy to see that the Blue Ocean started to re-configure some seating for shows in which table seating really isn't appropriate. The stinginess they've developed however is disheartening. We went to a show at the Blue Ocean with a group of people several weeks back. Now, it's important to note that the Blue Ocean, like just about any other venue of it's type, has a full bar and food service. Generally, the rule for these types of establishments is that drinking water should be made available to guests (unfiltered water, a water fountain, etc.). Blue Ocean has never had a fountain, and apparently they thought it was a good idea to do away with the unfiltered water as well. When someone from our party called them on it, they simply stated "we can't serve that", but they were more than happy to sell us knock-off bottles of water for $2.50 a pop. Give me a freaking break. We had a great time at the show itself, but it was very disappointing how we got nickled and dimed for the smallest commodities which are typically offered at part of the admission at other comparable venues. You're in Salisbury, not Boston guys. If you don't start offering more bang for the enormous amount of bucks you charge for admission and commodities, your patrons will find somewhere else to watch live music. read more

This is a really great place to see a show. Nice staff, really clean environment and the band is right in your face. It makes the Hampton Beach Casino look like a total dump (which it is...and the Casino's staff is on a Gestapo head trip to boot). Love Blue Ocean. Superb venue, small and intimate yet big enough to see a real performance not crammed onto an undersized stage....I don't think there are any bad seats and the ocean view is fantastic with restaurant next door if you want to make a night of it. Parking is right in front no problem. I went with table seating and the experiences was wonderful with great acoustics...will go again. I find Tupelo a little more intimate but both venues have their uniqueness and advantages one way or the other. Beats the Hot cattle drive confinement of the Casino ballroom for sure. read more

Went here for the 1st time last nite to see Marc Cohn. Excellent performance! The seating is a bit cramped though. 6 people per table and tables are pretty close. At least where I was (table 73). Very good sound. Can see the artist from pretty much anywhere. When you order drinks/food they take your credit card and charge you at the end of the nite. Will definitely return to see future shows. read more

The Haverhill Chamber just did an event for over 200 women at Blue Ocean. It was incredibly great! The venue is beautiful, the view is stunning. More importantly to me as an event planner - the staff was responsive, professional, and easy to work with. There were NO glitches. They were patient with our neurotic need to visit the venue a dozen times by a dozen different people. The support we got from the AV department made my job as emcee so much easier. They are TRUE professionals. And the food was great. I've done about 500 events like this in my long career -- and I never expect the food to be anything more than acceptable. This was 'restaurant good'. The veggies were cooked perfectly, the FISH was cooked perfectly. I would highly recommend Blue Ocean to anyone planning an event! read more

This venue is aesthetically very nice. The atmosphere, for the most part is great. The sound and stage are decent. The drinks are over priced and WAY OVER SERVED. There were very drunken belligerent people @ an Edwin MCcain concert. He plays mellow country music and two fist fights almost broke out! I can't help but blame the venue for over serving a crowd of obnoxious alcoholics. Edwin even said something about it on stage! As a musician & performer I felt so bad for him. He's a former alcoholic himself so I'm not surprised by his crowd. I don't blame him or even his crowd. This venue will get in trouble for this in the future. We probably won't come back. I've been here about 5-6 times now and never had a bad experience-in fact all were near enough great. Good music, good drinks and decent bar-food (well I guess that part of the review comes from girlfriend). They gets some decent musicians in and I strongly prefer this place to going to Hampton for live music. My only complaint is the house lights shine right on the musicians. I have heard several musicians complain about this. They are the talent that fills this place and they should have that fixed post haste. Right now though, I think they are doing a lot more right than wrong. I will be back. read more

It's a beautiful venue, but it is too cramped and the waitress service is horrendous.

Pleasant cabaret-style music venue - good sound & comfortable, social seating - The place actually looked pretty nice once we were inside. The view over the beach could not be beat!. I was surprised because all day we had been looking at this hulking aluminum clad rusty cinderblock of a pier plunked right down in the middle of Salisbury Beach, thinking whoever developed this monstrosity has no regard for their neighbors. What an eye sore! I will not comment on the wine, other than to say it should've been a bottled beer night. read more

6 of us attended the "Winter Blues Festival" last night...The musicians were all very talented but there wasn't enough "Blues"...I was excited as were the rest of the party about an night full of Blues...It didn't happen though..My husband and I have been to 4 show there. We have sat at the same table 3 of the times and we love it...The waitress assigned to our table was so slow in getting our drinks to us...Average wait for a drink was 20 mins.. I even had to send a drink back it was terrible, I waited another 20 mins for the correct drink to be served. Then when it was time to leave I had to get up from the table and hunt her down for the check...We will go again, and we hope to get better service.. read more

I've attended a few shows at this establishment over this winter and last fall. I want to bring it to your attention that the PA vocals from the front row are horrible. I love sitting in the front row, but at this establishment the house PA rack of speakers are placed in the wrong spots. The front seats are in the same position as the side of the PA speakers, so all you can hear is the amps of the instruments and not the singers. If the PA speakers were positioned on the back walls instead of the front stage wall the singer could be heard. I'm surprised that this sound quality has not been addressed by their audio staff. Everyone in the front row seats were complaining about not hearing the singers. I complained to their management and all I was told was to buy tickets for other seats and not the front row!? WTF? The most expensive seats are in the front row but you can't hear the vocals. Buyer beware. read more

I attended my third show here this week. The first two were several years ago, when it was still Tupelo Music Hall, and I could definitely see the difference. The venue itself is beautiful, and right on the beach, so you can't beat the location. There is plenty of parking available right outside the door, and it's decently priced considering you can arrive early in the day, pay one price to park and spend the day on the beach before attending the show. The drink I had was absolutely delicious, albeit a bit pricey, but I expected that since it's the case at most venues. This is definitely several steps above the divey Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom, which I avoid like the plague after several awful experiences in a row. My only complaint is that one of the "security" staff members after the show was over was clearly cranky and wanted to leave, and was taking it out on patrons who had paid an extra $60 to stay and meet the band. He didn't even allow my friends and I to make a quick trip to the bathroom, regardless of the fact that there were still about 70 people lined up to meet the band behind us and we would have been in and out long before they were through. Besides that, though, it's a great place to visit and I had the most fun I've had at a concert in many years. read more

The Kenny G. Show was good. But the bar service leaves something to be desired, I ask for a named bottle of beer and to my surprise is was served in a plastic cup with out the bottle. How do I know if I was served the beer that I ordered. I have never in all of my life time have every seen this kind of bar service. read more

Went to see Jeffrey Adams, an Elton John Tribute entertainer. He was better than I expected, if you didn't know better, you might think you were actually seeing Elton John on stage. The venue was ok, we had reserved seating for four. Six seats at a table, so we were seated with a couple we didn't know. It is a round table, so we had to turn the seats around with the table to our backs to see the concert. The chairs were not comfortable to sit on for the whole concert. We also had an obstructed view in the form of a column. Servers seemed very stressed to keep up with drink orders, but ours was friendly and she made the best out of the situation. Gladly the show was good. I would go back for a show I really want to see, but would be more critical of where I would be seated. If you're going to eat at the restaurant first, you can park in the lot, if you're there only for the show, then you have to pay $10 to park next door. read more

Attended the NYE event at the Blue Ocean. Entrain was great and we really looked for ward to them. But we made the big mistake of paying extra for the buffet. It was not only boring, it was cold. and they had the nerve to place an unpleasant man at the front of the line to tell everyone you can only come up once. tacky. I had to drink an $8 glass of wine from a plastic cup. Our waitress hardly ever showed up because they had her spread over all the tables. so we tried to get drinks from the bar and until he told us we couldn;t if we had a tab with the waitress. So when we finally got our waitress we had to cash out with her in order to get a drink withthe bar.... this is how I spent my NYE. sucked. Then to top it off,,, there was no champagne toast or hats,,, just a few ballons. cheap,,poorly done , very unorganized... even Entrain was still setting up while we were eating.. with a ladder looming over the tables. I am so angry with this venue that I will never go there again. I was so embarassed that I brought my friends there to spend NYE with me. read more
