Jodi is an incredibly skilled and vastly knowledgeable injector! I came to her a few months ago after having been to two previous injectors and still not being completely satisfied with the results. I had some asymmetry and lumps/bumpiness on my lips that I was very self conscious about. Jodi took time to explain to me about the different types of fillers offered and which one would best yield the results I was looking for. Then, I swear she worked some sort of magic on my lips, because the results were phenomenal! She managed to perfectly enhance my natural lips without it being at all obvious that I'd had them done! This business ran a great special for Dysport injections with Living Social. At my appointment I was assured great results and therefor convinced to spend an additional $300 because the original amount would not be enough. After 7 days my eyes were in the position of a permanent scowl. I went back and asked for help where Jodi Sawyer said I needed to spend an additional $500 on a filler to fix it. Otherwise she "could not help me." It has taken four months for this to correct itself. I will never go back there. I felt that Jodi was only interested in getting more money, not helping her client. So I'm a low maintenance kinda lady...I get my hair cut once a year (maybe), I don't get facials, or my nails done, or pedicures( I could probably use one!). I purchase most of clothing at thrift stores, Target, Forever 21 (even though I'm far from it anymore!) and Old navy. I hate the mall...I'll go for some nice shoes...but that's it. Anyway, I saw this women I know with brown spots all over her face and she looked horrible, so naturally I asked what happened to her face...she said she had a Harmony treatment. What the hell is that? I thought..."You mean you did that on purpose?!!" The lady said it gets out all the brown spots and evens out your skin. "Really?Hmmmmm...." She came back to my store a week later and her face looked so awesome! I couldn't believe it! I asked her who did it...Med Spa Blah blah... I have this birthmark thing on my forehead from taking birth control, and I have tried every cream to get rid of it! I'll skip all that, basically I hated this thing and was willing to give this a try. I made the call over to Jodi Sawyer, she zapped my face and yes, it smelled like burnt dog hair, and she told me to sit still with funky dark glasses, and cold goopy gel on my face. I left her office with reddish spots on my face and neck and chest where she lasered (like a rash!). Don't bother wearing make-up before your visit, it will come off...even around your eyes! Just do yourself and the world a favor and go home! The next day I look bad, the day after that...I look horrid. Like there is a case of rosacea with speckled mud on my face. I will tell you that no amount of makeup covered it up very well. Seriously, I looked terrible. The third day...terrible, with scaly,crinkled skin... The fourth day, better, but still old and dirty...5th day, I'm getting anxious! She told me no matter what, not to scrape the scabs off (did I mention they are scabs?) The sunspot mole thing on my face turned from reddish to black...and then by the 7th day, it fell off! No more weird mold on my face. My skin looked smooth and clear. The thing on my forehead bleached out a bit...not all the way gone, but pretty good. Unbelievable. People at work told me how much younger I looked! Holy smokes...this stuff works! I didn't go back for months...and did it again, and this time it wasn't as bad. She told me to get rid of the melasma on my forehead I need to hit it every few months. No time, I go back when I can. Also, side note apparently, the degree of ugliness it brings up varies...my girlfriend had it done after me (she loved my result and had seen my metamorphosis) and was pissed that she didn't look as "ugly or dirty" as me! Whatever, she looked like she had dirt on her face. 5-7 days later, she looked awesome. It works. It's well worth the price, and the way I see it, it's preventative care. I don't want to get a face-lift and have shrink wrap face. This is a great alternative, and it works. It's not a miracle cream, you have to do it 2-3 times a year and you will look amazing. Seriously. Jodi is talented and funny as hell, I love her to death. Book early, appointments fill up quick! She also runs specials so get on her mailing list, and Facebook for discounts. Still using Jodi after all these years!! Jodi and her crew are still astounding and warm. i love that Jodi realy knows faces and skin and will never make you look fake, phony or too surprised. I'm a big baby with needles and she makes me feel so at ease with her voice and she's pretty quick. As a woman of color, laser treatments are limited but I started doing the Harmony laser and I love the results of more even skin and smaller pres. Julie is an expert at exfoliating and I tried the facial where she scrapes and exfoliates your face. Trust me, if you're going to an event, this is the one! I visited Jodi Sawyer about three weeks ago for filler.She injected a totally different product than I asked for. She injected such a large amount that the product migrated under my eye. I had a lump there for 5 days. She told me this product never migrates.I would never consent to this much product in my body. I think she is after the $$$. I remain with pain in my ear that radiates to my head. I think The physician that backs this facility should be aware of what she is doing.I think this unprofessional, uncaring RN just cares about how much money she makes and not how it reacts with the patient. I have had Jodi do Perlayne filler several years ago and was really pleased with the results. Recently she used Voluma and I was amazed with how it made my marionette lines soften up. I am 54 and don't want to look like I have had a bunch of work done to my face. I want to look natural. Jodi completely understands this. I went to MedSpaXL for Dysport by Jodi Sawyer. I had the Dysport around my eyes and ended up with terrible bruising and a droopy eyelid. I have had to spend money at another office to get things corrected because Jodi was not capable of fixing the situation. After doing some checking, I now realize that it is illegal for a nurse to practice without a doctor supervising her treatments. At their clinic, I asked to see the doctor, but they said there is no doctor at the office. All I have to say is that if the doctor who owns MedSpa XL does not start supervising his nurse (Jodi) and his patients, then I will report this to the authorities. No one should have to go thru what I went through and receive illegal and inferior treatments. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way, but from now on I will only get my treatments done by a DOCTOR, not an unsupervised NURSE!!! read more

I was talked into a series of Harmony laser treatments, with Jodi assuring me it would make my broken capillaries disappear, and lighten my few brown spots. Even though I wasn't seeing any results, she kept assuring me I needed more treatments and that eventually I would see improvement. I had seven treatments at a cost of $500 each. Finally I wised up and confronted her about the lack of results. She refused to admit fault, saying I needed more treatments. I sought a second opinion from a dermatologist, who told me right away that the Harmony system is a very mild laser, and that for my problem I needed a pulsed dye laser. After one treatment, the majority of my broken capillaries are gone, and the pulsed dye laser was $600. Ms. Sawyer, with years of claimed expertise, must have known her laser treatments would be ineffective for me and should have acted professionally and referred me to a dermatologist who could help. Either she is not very knowledgeable in her claimed field of expertise, or she kept seeing me trying to make all the money she could before I wised up. I would avoid her and seek help from a real dermatologist. read more

Do not go to this place. They are completely incompetent. I made an appointment for their La Jolla office. I got a call a couple of days later saying no one would be at the La Jolla office that day so I needed to re-schedule. They said they needed to re-schedule me for their Encinitas office, which was much farther out of my way, but I scheduled it there anyway so I could get the treatment done. The morning when my first appointment (in La Jolla) was supposed to have occurred, they called me saying they didn't receive the product I was to get so they needed to re-schedule. I reminded them they had already called me to re-schedule (because they supposedly didn't have R.N.'s in the La Jolla office that day) and that I had a new appointment set for their Encinitas office. (Have to wonder what the real reason was for them to be rescheduling) The receptionist said "oh, they must have forgot to cancel your original appointment in the computer." She confirmed my new appointment in the Encinitas office. I showed up (7/1/13) for my appointment in Encinitas (which took me 30 minutes to get there) and when checking in was told that the R.N. was in the La Jolla office and unavailable! They asked if I could drive down to the La Jolla office right then. It was unbelieveable. They offered no apology. I have requested my money back because if they can't even schedule an appointment how can they competently provide a treatment. Don't go here. Not worth the aggravation. read more

Im so thankful to have come across MEDSPA and their employees. I recently got my eyebrows permanently tattooed by Julie and I could not be more happy with the outcome. I have an autoimmune disease which causes my hair to thin out and fall out, and was currently losing my eyebrow hair.
