Found Michelle through Groupon. They were offering a $20 deal for eye brow wax and shape. I knew mines was in need of a quick fix as I had some portions of my brow running free rein. Emailed them after checking out their website on Sunday and managed to get an appointment the next day on Monday (due to availability and my own schedule). Went to the appointment place following Google Maps - and opened the door after looking up the suite and walked into a small serene waiting area. Music played in the background. Elena T Beauty shares a working space with other beauty salons - which get their own room. There was some water and also a sign that asked to be seated until called. Michelle came out after her patient and introduced herself. Led me into the room with 'Elena T Beauty' on the outside and I got on the table. The experience surprisingly wasn't as painful I thought. It was like a quick taking off of the tape and I was done in 10-15 minutes. I had worse memories of the one time I waxed my brows...so I was slightly fearful. The next few days were slightly itchy - but it's because the skin was healing. Overall had a good eye brow wax experience and my brows look neater and less all over the place. read more

Cousin recently got married and gifted her bridesmaids with professional hair & makeup (which is funny because a bottle of wine would have been an awesome gift). Elena was the make up artist that met us at the hotel we were getting ready in. I've had my make up done in the past but must say that Elena was THE BEST make up artist ever. She worked well with Asian skin tones and eyes. I appreciated how she took her time to apply the make up to each girl and would ask for input on what each girl liked (ie for the eyes). She even had fake eye lashes for each girl! I would say 100% of the girls (including bride) never wore fake eyelashes before so Elena had to patiently (but always with a smile and a chuckle) put up with 'omggg, this feels soooo weird on my eyes' from every girl. I believe each girl received about 45 minutes for the make up application and Elena used each second wisely & efficiently. The make up lasted so well until the very end of the night. My foundation still looked great and there weren't any usual dry spots you see when hours start passing from a long day. The make up was heavy but you need that for the wedding (& photos). I wouldn't wear this make up on a daily basis but would absolutely wear it for another special occasion or a fancy date. I liked Elena so much that I inquired if she offers a makeup tutorial. She said yes at the studio for $85. That kind of seemed like a lot until she mentioned that it was a 75 min tutorial where she goes through your make up routine, products, how to mimic her cat eye technique, etc. So I hope to do that with her soon (I noticed people purchased yelp deals from here before so please offer that again Elena!). read more

I came for a Brazilian wax, couldn't resist the $25 for $45 yelp deal :) The *only* downside was the location was slightly tricky to find, but if you're coming here for the first time, look for a brownish business building that has a parking structure on the bottom - her store is on the 3rd floor. Elena is great, very friendly, she's a genuine person who can carry on a conversation to take your mind off of the Brazilian wax. It's quick and the wax temperature is not too hot. And afterwards she will apply aloe vera to help with any (if at all) pains. Definitely would recommend anyone who is looking for a better esthetician. I booked an appointment online, and there were many times available. Super convenient! Elena T Beauty is located on the third floor in a large brown, office-like building. There is plenty of parking in the garage below the building, just avoid the reserved spots. I walked into her suite and was a little confused at first because there wasn't really a reception desk, but Elena greeted me right away and offered me water. I always dread trying to find a new stylist or esthetician, but I was immediately impressed by Elena and her set-up. The room was very welcoming and tranquil and Elena was very friendly and warm! She used a roll-on waxer for my legs, then soft wax for everything else. I felt a very minimal level of pain, which surprised me because I had not had a wax done in such a long time. She was very thorough and efficient, which my sensitive skin is thankful for. Afterwards, she rubbed aloe on my skin which made it feel very silky smooth and soft. I've been coming to Elena for probably almost two years for Brazilian waxes and an occasional eyebrow wax. She really is amazing, as in I drive 20 minutes to see her and I don't even care. She was recommended to me by a friend and since I started going to her I haven't seen another in SD. I never have any issues post wax in the bikini area: no ingrown hairs, no irritation, no wax left behind, etc. She is quick and can get you done in about 15 minutes. I recently did a trial run for my wedding make up with Elena, and she is wonderful. This was my second trial run; my first was with another SD MUA (that one didn't go well). Elena is a good listener. When I showed her pictures of the look I was going for, and why I wanted traditional make up over airbrushing, Elena understood. Elena is patient. It took a couple of tries to find a lip color that I liked. She was completely cool with that. Elena is friendly and an easy conversationalist.
