BEWARE of Phoenix Ave Tire & Auto!!…read more Worst Experience-Zero Accountability & now a Destroyed Engine ​I brought my Gen 3 Prius to Phoenix Ave Tire specifically because they claim to specialize in hybrids. Knowing these models are notorious for head gasket failures, I wanted to fix a rough startup early to prevent engine damage. ​After charging $1,390+ for an EGR cooler replacement, spark plugs, and coils, the knocking returned immediately. They repeatedly assured me the head gasket was not the issue. Their advice for the knocking? Colton told me to take it on the interstate in Power Mode and floor it to "burn off carbon." When the knocking continued, he told me to do it again. Days later, the temp light came on, the engine overheated, and--surprise--the head gasket was blown. ​To make matters worse, I discovered they used a Dorman EGR cooler that didn't fit properly, forcing it on by stacking 5 copper washers and damaging my engine block threads in the process. Along with coolant splattered all over the place from being careless and just ripping off hoses to get done as quick as possible. ​When I confronted them, Tyler Casteel (the owner) gave me bizarre doctor analogies instead of accountability. They misdiagnosed a textbook hybrid issue, forced ill-fitting parts onto my car, gave destructive advice to floor a failing engine, and blew my head gasket. Avoid this shop at all costs!
