Terrible customer service. Their answer for anything and everything is " you go call someone" UNLESS they're trying to SELL you a policy. Then they wont stop contacting you. Their mindset is WRONG here. First, resolve issues, then once you have done so, discuss solutions. I pay $600.00 per month which isnt a small sum but once they arent selling and generating commission you have to use way way too much time to get then to pay, to get them to do anything that you pay for. They try harder not to help then it takes so much longer. Wouldn't it be better not to work so hard not to help? Moreover, from the outset, although the driver, who has no license and caused the wreck, SF did everything it could not to cover it, and only after Demand for Adequate Assurance of Performance did they finally stop trying to avoid their obligation under the policy. read more

Specifically, I wish to commend Shekhar Williams for his thoroughness, professionalism and follow up. These are difficult times. Having received a significant increase, I have been calling various agencies to evaluate options. Hands down, my experience with Shekhar was the best of any agencies I looked at. Not only was he thorough in his fact finding, ensuring that the coverage was correct, he advised on improvements. I moved to Boulder from downtown Chicago in 2014. My family has been loyal to SF in general and I've worked with a few agents due to moving. I forget how I found Joe and his team, but I'm so grateful I did. They have helped me with my business and growing family needs in an approach that is always very straightforward and human. Plenty of 'insurance salespeople' out there try to scare you into adding/increasing plans. They never pressure me to make any decisions, are always helpful in showing options, and follow up just the right amount to never be annoying. The few times I've needed to activate my plans, the process has been ridiculously simple. Which is needed, because if you have to call in your insurance, it's usually for a stressful situation. I can tell Joe takes care of his team and they all take pride in what they do. They see it for the greater purpose of providing care in uncertain situations. I could get cheap insurance if I wanted to gamble on it not covering in the way I expected or having to run circles around activating coverage. No thanks. I feel my rates are reasonable, but even if they were higher, I'd rather pay a little more for peace of mind and the best care I've ever seen. I can't speak for other SF agents, but we've never had a problem with SF in general and the agent/team does make a big part of the decision to stick with them! read more

We were customers of the Chrisman agency in Boulder for 8 years, and State Farm for decades (25 ish years). In that time we insured multiple homes, cars, personal umbrella, etc with no issue or claims with State Farm. Imagine our surprise when we sold our home and tried to insure our new Colorado home with State Farm and were denied, for excessive claims! In 2019 a visitor to our home had had a car totaled by another insurance company, (nothing to do with us or our policy,) due to a freak hail storm which could happen to anyone. Because she was staying at our address at the time, State Farm held it against us, years later!! Although Marcia at Joe Chrisman's office, tried to help, Joe himself never called or in any way tried to assist us. Basically they said, "nothing we can do, sorry." Remember, we were good customers for a long time. Zero help. Is that what you want in an insurance company? We changed companies and our premiums went down by almost half. New agent laughed when I told the story, we had no issues with new company issuing insurance. "Like a good neighbor"? Nope. Suggest you look elsewhere. read more
