if I could give 0 stars I would. I've really tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it's just gotten ridiculous, I would not recommend them to anyone unless you want to have constant issues that they either don't seem to have any idea what they are talking about and contradict themselves or just blame it on you and some magical elf that changes settings even though you know you didn't touch it. We had them come out and replace our unit through AHS, we have had nothing but issues since. We have been in our house 12 years and the only thing that changed was the unit installed by Joes. Our electric bill skyrocketed due to kicking into auxiliary mode even when that's turned off and they couldn't give us a reason why. Every time I had them out they couldn't seem to tell me what the problem was then I was told point blank oh the problem is the thermostat, we changed it and it didn't fix it and when he returned I told him he said it was the thermostat last time and he said oh I never said that which he clearly did and my friend was even here to hear it. I continue to still have problems with the unit running properly and when I called back to let them know, they told me that it's my fault that we messed up settings, when I explained we have not touched the settings they basically proceeded to call me a liar. I explained why would I call if I was changing settings and that was the problem, do you not think I have better things to do with my time, don't you think I'd give all the information so that I could be sure to have it fixed if we caused it by changing settings. She then proceeded to tell me it was time I call someone else and then hung up on me, because that's professional. I called back and told them as much that their customer service was disgusting, that I continue to have problems and all along they have shown no knowledge of the issue and made it a guessing game over multiple visits then he said oh well we didn't even install the thermostat which I quickly corrected her that yes they actually did the last visit, which she probably should have known before spouting that off. Every visit has felt like an actual guessing game and like they were completely unsure of what to do even with the most simple things that are common like cleaning out the drain line, which wasn't even checked the first two visits when I was told it was the thermostat. I literally NEVER write reviews, but this has been so awful and so stressful for over a year that hopefully this saves one person from making that mistake. Our A/C went out, so I called my homeowners warranty people and they sent out Joe Cools. They said my warranty company wouldn't cover it and then refused to work on it. I asked for a second company to look at it, waited over a week in the hot summer, and when they came, they had it running in 30 min. I also had 2 electricians at my house replacing several light fixtures, they were the ones who found the disconnected AC vent in the attic. Joe said the home warranty would deny our claim and it would cost a lot of money out of our pocket to fix it and pointed to my electricians saying they are probably the ones that disconnected it. He then said " I give you BOYS $20 to go and connect it back".. I told them they most certainly did not need to do his job for him. Joe cool was dispatched thru American home shield to my moms for a yearly service she switched from air masters, big mistake, two days after service her thermostat wouldn't work she called joes and asked if they could walk her through a trouble shoot but no they wouldnt said she needed a new service ticket so she paid home shield $125 to have joes sent out, same guy as before walks straight to thermostat takes it off and replaces batteries. mind you he didn't check or replace them on the SERVICE CALL 2 days earl !!! when my mom called him out on it guy got an attitude said we're dine and left. she called office and was told they don't check or replace batteries on a service call! my moms a recent widow and this is how they treated her. My ex in in Texas had used them several times in her home and in the business that she owned. She had bought a heat pump unit just a few years earlier. The guy showed up and the first thing he said was that her system used the old kind of freon so we should just upgrade to a new one since the old freon is so expensive. I asked him why he would have installed a unit with the old freon only five years previously. I told him that there should be some consideration. He dropped his estimate by several hundred dollars. I then noticed that there was a label on the unit that he was standing by that said the unit used the new freon. He rolled with the punch and started to look at the unit. I told him what I thought of people who take advantage of little old ladies and ran him off. Turns out that it was the coil and was under warrantee. The labor was a couple of hundred dollars. We also discovered that he had not wired the unit to the thermostat properly. He had hooked it up so that when the system was set to use the electric heat strip rather than the heat pump, it ran constantly. The new guy fixed it in a minute. read more

I had used Joe multiple times in the past on numerous properties but was very disappointed in the customer service when things go wrong. A coil was replaced and prior to replacing it no leaks were ever present, after the replacement of the coil the hvac system leaked throughout the house causing over $1275 in damage. I hate giving negative reviews and ruining a perfect 5.0 rating but I did want the customer service be known when things go wrong that Joe Cool does not attempt to offer suggestions to make it right. Sheri the company manager mentioned that the leak was partially a result of the service of joe cool and The plumbing on the house. Although I was willing to offer suggestions on the $1275 in damage post repair(maybe split the cost of the damage), Sheri mentioned they would not be responsible for secondary damage. Secondary damage is defined as, "the damage that can be caused after the initial damage or failure of a not related to a direct repair." Because this was partially in relation to both parties I was willing to work with them with splitting repair cost and avoid this as well as a bbb complaint I will be placing later today. Unfortunately the manager was very defensive and did not allow me to offer suggestions. Sorry Joe Cool you will definitely be on my list of companies to avoid in the future for any and all people looking for service. Service with Joe Cool is good until things go bad. Came out from AHS. Got the part to repair my heat pump and fixed it really quick I would definitely recommend them.

AHS sent this company out to my new residence due to my furnace being out. I took a look at his truck and asked if he had brought a ladder. My furnace that wasn't working was located above my closet that didn't have any sort of ladder for permanent access. My home inspector as well as two different AC companies had all used ladders to gain access without hesitation. Joe told me that he didn't have a ladder because they are a liability. I was immediately skeptical of his ability to repair my furnace if he thought using a ladder was that dangerous. I asked him to leave immediately. That seemed to be the only thing we agreed on. If you don't have a means of 'permanent' access to your systems, don't bother calling these guys. I would steer clear of them even if you do though. read more

AHS contacted Joe Cool's ac to come fix our gas heating furnace. Joe came out with in 24 hrs and replaced the electric board all within 30 min. Great service Joe and his phone contact very friendly and knowledgeable. I plan on having AHS contact them again if I ever need service again. read more

Unfriendly and unprofessional. Despite the virus the technician would not wear a mask. I have a pre-existing condition, and found their disregard for safety unexcusable. Mis-diagnosed problem at a $1800 difference from actual problem. Their diagnoses "Leaking at Evaporation Coil and need to replace" Actual: by another company, hole in copper tube at inlet outside of home... had we replaced the good evaporator coil, the Freon leak would still have been there. The warranty for both in and out units did not cover problem. PROBLEM WAS INSIDE THE OUTER WALL. Always get a second and third opinion if you have a warranty company. read more

Joe was sent out by AHS for an AC problem. He said that it was a power surge and AHS Warraty would not cover, even though there have been no storms, I was home all day and nothing even flashed, much less stopped working. After arguing with AHS that there is absolutly no way to know if it was a power surg ( seems to be the new way to get out of fixing) I had my own AC guy come out. He could not find anything wrong other than the power supply had come unplug, maybe due to that same part supposedly being fixed by A-US Air in December 2021 and not being installed properly. All my trusted AC guy did was take the unit apart to get numbers off the part and put back together and it worked fine. These AC guys need to be watched. I do not know how they can sleep at night with all the stress they put on people. read more

Joe (the Joe) from Joe Cool's was no BS and diagnosed immediately a problem that had been mis-diagnosed the year before by a different company sent out by AHS. So thankful my home warranty pointed me to Joe. We've had such a warm fall this year that I have not needed to turn the heater on till last night (just days before a big freeze) - what luck I find that the heater is not blowing warm air. I set up a claim with my home warranty this morning. Within 1 hour I got a call back from Joe Cool's Cooling & Heating and was told they could fit me in TODAY. Joe himself came to my house at the very beginning of the 3 hour window they gave me. Greatest thing is that it only took him about 10 minutes to figure out the issue. Instead of deciding a big expensive part needed to be replaced - he dug deep and saw that a nest of dirt daubers had infiltrated the system and created a blockage. He cleaned it out and just like that our house is warm for the upcoming freeze. I cannot speak more highly of the company. read more

Initial contact was good, appointment was made with same day service however when the technician arrived he spent all of 5 minutes looking at my outside AC unit and determined I needed a whole new unit. After inspecting the upstairs unit (attic) he informed me the units weren't compatible and that it also had to be replaced. I was quoted $4200 for a new outside and inside unit. My second opinion was able to fix the problem in less than an hour and it only cost $176. BEWARE of the "AC whisperer". read more

I was quoted $4200 to replace some heat pump components and $5600 for a complete inside and outside unit by a big name company for one of my rental properties in Arlington. They said they can fix it but will just break down again. My heat pump is only 5 years old. I called Joe Cool for a second opinion and a quote for the replacement. Technician came to check the system and said there was a component not installed correctly so it was not working properly. He fixed it and said I don't need to replace the system. Unfortunately they have earned ONE star from me. The reason being is that Sherry wanted to charge me a $75.00 service fee just to tell me that my air filter needed to be changed. Now, I have done business with them previously and had no issues. However, this time, the tech that came to my house LIED about services rendered. Sherry told American Home Shield that the tech changed my air filter and moved some vents that were supposedly facing the wrong way. The only issue that I have with that is....I only have ONE vent in my hallway, which is where the 20x20x1 filter goes, which is built into the ceiling and you have to unlock the clips in order for the vent door to drop down and open. And I bought my own air filter from Lowe's, which was $19.99. Also on my receipt, there is a ZERO for the service fee and my husband was at home to be able to pay the fee as well as they could have called me once services were completed--which we have done previously with them. Therefore, money was no issue...it was the lie that was told and the fact that I have a receipt with no signature and a ZERO where the service fee would have been charged. Now her tech told my husband the filter needed to be changed. Yet the tech told Sherry that my husband was sleep. If that was the case, who did he talk to? Because I my husband was home and would have paid the fee with no problem. My warning to future customers: Be there, look over their shoulder and make sure that ZERO means ZERO, and not we will bill you later!!!!! We have used him in the past and he "seemed" honest. Called to come out when air was out.... he said he added 15 lbs of freon even though there was a leak in the hose said he would not repair the hose and charged us $750. Less than 2 days later it was out again!!!! He didn't tell us the cost or about the leak until after he added the freon. We never would have agreed to add it and pay that much for a band-aid fix. I can't even begin to describe the amount of unprofessionalism by the owner of the company. I called in to inform them about one of their drivers in the company vehicle driving erratic. When the lady answered the phone and I informed her of what was happening, she said "oh well there is a family emergency so that's why", to which I asked her "Surely you're not justifying the driver almost hitting 3 cars as okay because of a family emergency? She stated "well we don't really care so its whatever." I asked her "what if he had of hit someone?", and she was said "well he didn't so there's no problem" and hung up on me. When I called back and asked to speak with a manager she stated she was the owner of the company and that she really didn't care what I thought and told me to "Go write a review or post it wherever I wanted because they really didn't care" and hung up on me again. I can't believe that someone would be so rude and have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS or say GO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR COMPANY EVERYWHERE. I understand in an emergency we sometimes forget about others, but to not at least act concerned to a potential customer who is calling in, Ridiculous. Even if you know that your employee does have an emergency, the decent thing to do would be to act like you care and tell the customer you will take care of it, even if you don't, and thank them for calling you. But to get irritated and upset with a potential customer who is trying to let you know that your employee who is driving your COMPANY VEHICLE is driving horrible is sad. It shows their level of unprofessionalism and if that's how they treat customers over the phone I would never want to speak to them in person or even use them for that matter. The way you handle phone calls reflects how you do business and I can only imagine the way they have treated other customer's issues in person. read more

AC compressor stopped working on Saturday June 13. Called Joe Cool and was told they would put me on the list for service Tuesday June 16. Tuesday came and went without anyone calling or showing up.
